My old FOTR - TTT Hobbit deck
« on: April 05, 2013, 06:42:05 AM »
Hi,

After years of catching dust, I finally found my old hobbit deck back.
Take a peek and share your thoughts:

Frodo, Old Bilbo's Heir
The One Ring, Answer To All Riddles

Fellowship:
1x Sam, Proper Poet
1x Pippin, Woolly-Footed Rascal
1x Merry, Learned Guide

Ally:
2x Treebeard, Earthborn
2x Hobbit Farmer
2x Bounder

Possessions:
1x Thror's Map
1x Mithril-coat
1x Sting

Events / Conditions:
4x Knocked on the head
4x Warmed Up A Bit
2x A Talent For Not Being Seen
4x Deft in Their Movements
4x Hobbit Stealth
4x Hobbit Intuition

Sites:
1 Green Hill Country
2 Buckleberry Ferry
3 Council Courtyard
4 Moria Stairway
5 The Bridge of khazad-Dum
6 Valley of the Silverlode
7 Anduin Wilderland
8 Anduin Banks
9 Summit of Amon Hen

Tactics are simple. Just run towards Mordor, adding as few as possible Twilight. So whenever an opponent plays minions, frodo could be saved by Merry, Pippin and Sam, discarding them, and next turn make them come back into play for free (except Sam) because of the hobbit farmer and green hill country.

Treebeard is a great addition to the team because of the stacking ability. Making him return merry and pippin several times.

I saw something similar in action recently, a friend played a system in a ts game, which worked for the most part.  However, how would you go about discarding sam here?  He's ring-bound, after all...
Otherwise, I love the twilight limiting, seems to fit well with these cards, particularly hobbit farmer.

I'm assuming this is Pre-Shadows Multipath?

Welcome to the site, rydhus.

I'm assuming this is Pre-Shadows Multipath?

It didn't exist until recently, so it can't be.

Thanks, had much fun back in the days.
Had 3/4 of those cards in foil, and sold it for loads of money back in the days.
Now i've reconstructed it.

Haven't been playing for a long while.
Not even know what the Multipath rules mean.

I can't recall that Sam was ALWAYS Ring-Bound. Perhaps i just forgot.
Any ideas on how Sam would work better? Or a way to discard him?

Since it is just for fun, i found this sam for burden removal (Pippin)
And i was thinking about using Frodo. Kinda nice if you could use mithril-coat and Sting at the same time. ( Frodo = 3 + 2 + 2 from sting +2 from the ring).

Ill read into this Multipath rules :)

Sam is always ring bound, even if the fellowship block versions don't specifically say it.  It's somewhere in the TTT Starter deck rulebook.  Sadly I don't know of any way to discard him. At all, actually.  Not even a Southron Commander can do it.

Proper Poet is used mainly as a sac, when you're out of other cannon fodder.  You can use the defender +1 to take a few minions away from the others.
If you put in A Promise, perhaps frodo and sam can have a better chance at surviving skirmishes until that point.  Just an idea.
(note: a promise is in mines of moria, so this is assuming you play casually enough to include fellowship block cards.)

And if you don't want to be pure fellowship and go the Movie block route, Make Haste can help you getting Sam out of the way. If your deck really chokes, it also helps getting rid of minions...

@Zurcamos Thanks. As I said before, haven't been playing for a long while. But it's nice to see so many players still active!

@TheNinthPlayer. Thanks, A Promise seems pretty good in this. Ill be boosting my frodo even more.

@neopium Make Haste is pretty awesome. If i get the chance to discard a minion, i do not have the need to discard sam. I'll test it out, if i choke enough.

Still trying to figure out how to discard sam in the skirmish phase. (and still trying to collect more foils :P)
Thanks for the tips and info

I removed 2 Warmed up a bit for Make haste. Since it is a fun deck ( I only play with others vs. my other decks and against one other friend atm.) I also use Sam, needer of vittles and Frodo, Weary from the journey.
