Title: Ringbound Hobbits
Post by: King89 on September 28, 2008, 07:50:57 AM
Sam, Hoffnung in der Not (13R158) + The One Ring, The Great Ring
Frodo, Frenzied Fighter
Bilbo, Agened Ring-bearer
Smeagol, Pitiable Guide

2x Gandalf, Wise Guide - maybe i'll add his horse and/or his ring
1x Pallando, Far traveled
1x Daddy Twofoot
1x Frodo Gamgee

2x Hobbit Sword
1x Sting, Bane of the Eight Legs - or Elven long knife
1x Mithril-Coat, Dwarf-mail
1x Lutz das Ponny, innig geliebt (13R143)
1x Salt from the Shire

3x A Promise
3x Sudden Fury
2x Scouring of the Shire
2x Simple Living
1x Verbundene Schicksale (13U148)
1x Tale of The Great Ring

3x Consorting Hobbits
1x Second Breakfast
2x Still Far Ahead - alternative: There‘s Another Way

TOTAL: 32 karten

Sites: mainly Forests and Dwellings
Shadow: best will be Forest-Naz. (with Gollum Splash)

the strategy should be clear, shouldn't it?

i'm looking forward to all ideas which will make this deck more stronger.

Definately needs One Good Turn Deserves Another, Community Living and No Visitors.

Bilbo + Daddy-twofoot + No Visitors = mega cancelling burden removal engine. Its higly annoying.

Drop Gandalf and Pallando, unless you plan an initiative style to the deck, but RB Hobbits arent the best for initiative decks.

thanks for you comment.

i included gandalf in this deck to be a bit saver against nasty events like "Lost to the Goblins".
pallando is used because there are some shadow conditions you have to destroy if you wanna win. best example: SHARPS SLOWLY ADVANCING !!!

"No Visitiors" is a good no question, but it doesn't help to win skirmishes ;) i'll be thinking of put it into the deck.
"Community Living" is good too...
"One Good Turn Deserves Another" makes me add a burden to take it back into hand - there for i've got smeagol.... and it doesn't make site number -1.

i also thought about "Little Golden Flower" but 3 twilight pool is quiet heavy.

Yeah look at the combo

Burden for Smeagol
Daddy-twofoot pulls back No Visitors
Bilbo cancels after peeling burdens
Smeagol plays next site
Safe Passage!

Put Safe Passage in.

....
Put Safe Passage in.

this combo is nasty, my friend. :D

although it's a completly other strategy: choking insteat of fighting.

I think you can combine the 2. If you want to go straight fighting, go Westfarthing Businessman with Sudden Fury. With 4 of them and 4 SotS out.... huge.

i think i will test some of your ideas to see how they fit ;))

Vermisse Pippin, Merry, Tom Bombadil und Goldbeere. Neunfingriger Frodo ist auch gut. Effekte abzulegen ist Pflicht -Entweder Gandalf oder Elben. Außerdem muss Galadriels Phiole rein!

look (to speak english here ;) ) how this deck work. you will see that most of your idea's do not improve it, mainly pippin or merry ... maybe i sholud think about tom, but what's about gold berry? i just have one river in my advanture path deck ;)

Tom Bombadil: removes burdens or threats! You can exert him for ninefingered Frodo!
Goldberry: heals Tom Bom, on Mithlond twice, and she pushs the companions which might be helpfull
Pippin may replace Gandalf, just in case...and get his skirmish canceld thanks to Tom Bombadil
Ninefingerd Frodo removes threat and burdens. You may exert you allies. Threats are dangerous in damage or archery decks. So be aware!

Replace sites with Gandalfs event.

I dislike Ringbound hobbits - but it is the main theme of this deck. Otherwise, I would ignore Smeagol and exchange Bilbo for Bilbo 12R... But this is another Deck.

Do not forget to take Galadriels Phiol! Merry and Pipin are nice for "We will see us again soon" (or like this).
Good Luck,
sincerly
Elrohir

i made some changes on the paper which should improve the deck and make it a bit more nasty.
... but i'm still looking for a condition discard without pallando! any ideas?!

I think you should run Sam, Great Elf Warrior and the Frodo ring-bearer Weary from the Journey. Because Sam just gets huge, and that rocks.

Ring-bound hobbits typically choke and fight simultaneously, which is what makes them powerful. They can take on a lot, but they also choke very well.

Methinks that Safe Passage should be run with One Good Turn Deserves Another and perhaps some Golden Perch Ale. Ring-boun hobbits are notorious for abusing burdens and peeling them off like crazy. One Good Turn Deserves Another is absolutely awesome, and Bilbo + Golden Perch Ale ensures you'll never have a problem with burdens ever.

And yes, No Visitors with Bilbo and Daddy Twofoot is absolutely amazing.

Gladden Homestead is the only removal card this deck could use, and its more clog than removal.

Clog rocks.

uhm... i think i wont drop Pallando because Gladden Homestead is not that good and also to much based on  [Gollum] cards. the transfer costs of P. are not as that high, because i've got a good healing engine and i'll add Little Golden Flower, which might be a vitality push-up.

LttG is not included in Standard format (or am I wrong)

and get his skirmish canceled thanks to Tom Bombadil
I thought Tom only cancelled skirmishes on movie-sites due to the fact that Extended sites don`t have sitenumbers. (or am I wrong)

You're right about LttG, but Tom CAN be used to cancel skirmishes on any sitepath. Since it doesn't specifically say it's on Fellowship block sites, only the site number matters, and EVERY sitepath has site numbers going from 1 to 9.

If you need a condition for Pallando, you can alus use Strange Meeting...but it would only work on Gandalf
or am I not hearing you right?

I think what King wanted to say is that he didn't want to use Pallando as his conditiondiscard.

@GE:
yope, that's right... was my english so bad?

@elrohir:
both cards are too much based on [Gandalf]. it's sad, but to my mind pallando is the only way to get a well-working conditiondiscard. maby i'm going to add some more healing stuff... :

Still, much better than Bilbo, Well-spoken Gentlehobbit or ally Elrond / Vilya.
