Title: Book of Mazarbul
Post by: maverick2909 on January 16, 2014, 11:22:25 AM
Got a quick question. Does the Book of Mazarbul work when I am past site 4 for any block or just the original block?

Only in Fellowship block.

Only in Fellowship block.

Thats what I thought. Our play group was considering how to do the site path for our games. We all quit right when Shadows came out for a number of reasons but decided to pick up the game again and play Movie block.

We were discussing different ways to work the site path including just playing King path, everyone brings their own path as long as it is all from one block, or have every month devoted to a different path. What does your play group do? What would be the best way in your alls opinion?

If we do where everyone brings their own site path from what ever block then you run into the problem of how to treat cards like Book of Mazarbul.

Yeah, maverick, my goup faced the same situation with Goblin Domains. We always ask if we're gonna use "old sites or new ones". If we choose new ones (which we prefer because of the region mechanics), he just switches Domains with another card he keeps behind it, in the same shield. Guess this is the way...

Yeah I think we will just have to sit down as a group and discuss what we think is best. None of us have anything past set 10 so I think the new site path is out of the question for now (until we get some of the newer sets any way). I think we might just play King for now and rotate to a different site path in a month or so.

I do see that on some lists Book of Mazarbul is banned so I assume if we played with fellowship block it would be banned there as well.

Nope, Mazarbul is not banned. :^)

Here's a topic with both x and r-list: http://lotrtcgwiki.com/forums/index.php/topic,120.0.html

I'm not sure how popular multipath is though. Thanks for that link. I'll print it off and bring it to the next game night!

As its text is only usable in Fellowship block, the only reason you'd use it in other formats is an extra tale for Gloin or Pippin, or an extra possession for Durin.

That banlist is a custom made one by the French. Its is not viewed as official. There are more cards on there that are questionable. My suggestion is just go with the official x-list and r-list; and from there create house rules with your friends about what is and is not allowed.

Ah I see. Good call and I think that is what we will do. Just double checking, but for Movie block there is no R-list right? We have a copy of the X-list now but I didn't see anything posted about an R-list. Thanks again guys for all the help!
