What kinds of music do you guys like?
-
Good music.
-
I'm a weirdo: I listen to mostly soundtracks. I am John Williams' #1 fan. Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park...I own em ALL, even some of those re-recordings and re-re-re-recordings that are played by bands like the Oregon Symphony Orchestra or something. I'm also own soundtracks for Bond movies, Star Trek films, Matrix, The Mummy and its sequels...tons of others. They get me to and from work many days.
I ain't COMPLETELY off my rocker, though. I also like more "normal" music by groups/individuals like U2, Smashmouth, The Wallflowers, Steven Curtis Chapman, Michael Card, and the Newsboys.
Yeah, I'm still a weirdo.

I like mostly soundtrack as well. Indy is good, the Transformers is nice, Gettysburg, Star Wars, Patton,
Star Trek: Voyager, Pirates of the Caribbean, Independence Day, and when I'm in a goofy mood, Spamalot.
I also like waking up to the 1812 Overture.
-
Yeah, I have Pirates and ID4 as well. Good stuff.
Patton would be a good one. I'll have to look into that. :-k

Good music.
Could you please be a little less vague? I'm sure everyone thinks of the music they listen to as 'good music'.
-
Good music.
So he doesn't listen to opera or country...
-
Opera is cool! Especially ones by Wagner or Verdi. Country however, is not...
-
There are gems to be found among opera and, yes, country songs. You just need to be somewhat selective.
-
Eh...refer to a few posts back for my musical preferences.

Another Soundtracks nut.
Hans Zimmer, James Newton Howard, David Arnold, James Horner, Jerry Goldsmith, Joel Goldsmith... occasionally Danny Elfman. And, of course, the great master of all modern music, John Williams.
Oh, yeah. And Explosions in the Sky and Sigur Ros are nice bands.
And Wagner. Wagnerian opera is great. [Starts humming Ride of the Valkyrie]

Amen! [-o< This man speaks much truth. Good choices all...and I know exactly what you mean with Elfman. Very "on" sometimes, and very off at others.
How could I have forgotten...? I own as much Lord of the Rings movie music as possible.
-
c'mon EL, let's ditch these crazy geeks. ;)
-
Awh! But I LOVE the LotR soundtrack!
I know! We can make a LotR dedicated rock band!
Pippin's song would be so HARDCORE!

I agree I own a lot of soundtracks I am partial to Randy Edelman John Williams and Jerry Goldsmith. I also like Z.R.E.O. (Zelda Reorchestrated) and a lot of other game soundtracks such as: Warhawk, Lair, and Battle for Middle Earth 1 and 2 =D>

Hear, hear! Though it makes me even more of a nutcase, I LOVE music from the Zelda series, as well as the Halo series, certain Mario music, and oddly enough, the old-school Sega Genesis Sonic the Hedgehog games. The music brings a silly nostalgic smile to my face. I actually have a number of remixes and original tracks of all of the above which I'll sometimes fire up on my PC and rock out. :uh-huh:
Yeah, I'm a weirdo. I warned you guys! :P

Jordin Sparks- One Step At A Time (http://www.imeem.com/people/2W-ICi/music/ewKGcaFV/jordin_sparks_one_step_at_a_time/)
Anyways, yeah, Hardcore is awesome, but the light stuff makes you take a step back from rocking out and take a look at the message the music is conveying. Like...
Lifehouse- Broken
Run Kid Run- Freedom
Thousand Foot Krutch- This Is A Call
etc.
Hey, you got me onto the subject of music, I'll probably never let this thread die.
-
Argh I wondered how long before someone mentioned Jordin Sparks... I hear it all the time at work :-X
And I will admit to owning all of the Lord of the Rings soundtracks. And Star Wars. Duel of the Fates =D>
-
Argh I wondered how long before someone mentioned Jordin Sparks... I hear it all the time at work :-X

Its kinda sad that a music junkie like me only has 216 songs on his iPod, but I'm extremely picky about it. I want to be able to turn my iPod to shuffle and not skip any songs, because they're all awesome. So...yeah. I'm planning to buy some more music once I got enough cash, primarily this joint... As my friend Gate Troll said it is Mr. Centurion and thank you very much for your welcome I have had no trouble fitting in.
-
Okay, so who likes music other than soundtracks?
Jordy, if you're into hardcore stuff, you may wanna take a look at August Burns Red. They're pretty good, though metalcore all sounds the same to me.
-

Wow. The first thing I thought of was goth...
Then I remember that that stuff flies over in Europe. :P
I'm halfway between the soundtrack geeks and the metalheads. Is there room for alternative rock, raprock, pop, acoustic, etc?
Where's mm? I think he likes the music I do...
BTW, song that's been going through my head for forever.
Snow Patrol- Take Back the City (http://www.imeem.com/snowpatrol/video/vWScGeLJ/snow_patrol_take_back_the_city_music_video/)
-
This is lucious (http://www.musiclyricsatoz.com/viewvideo.php?id=ZbGw3A9Dg-Q)
What the...?
-
I saw Lostprophets when they first came out, like 2003 I think. They were really good back then... now I think they have gona a bit too 'poppy'
@ VeBu Cradle of Filth played there first ever gig at my local LOL
-
@TJ dude lost prophets are awesome i seen em live twice and the latest album liberation transmission, whilst admitedly is not as hardcore as start something, is not "pop". And also they been around since 1997 with the fake sound of progress so you didnt see em when they started out they were 6 years old!
@NB snow patrol are ace, i have seen them live too and were great. However i think take back the city is a weak song to come back with their new album. If you like that then the album "final straw" will blow you away. The last album was pretty good " Open your eyes" the song Youre all that i have is amazing.
Bands i seen live: Disturbed, Foo Fighters x3, Green Day x2, Jimmy Eat World, The Music x2, Feeder, My Chemical Romance, Staind, Arctic Monkeys, Linkin Park, Lost Prophets x2, The Coral, The Verve, Led Zeppelin, Hard Fi, Thousand Reason, Snow Patrol, The WonderStuff
...AAAANNNDDD just bought tickets for AC/DC next year... The tickets i got are on ebay already for well over 300 quid and i got em at face value of £40 each. So pysched. Gonna be awesome.
In the last 2 weeks i have seen live, The Music, Disturbed and Feeder. All packed full of awesomeness.
-
It was the 2002 NME Awards tour I saw them at. And yeah, they suck now sorry.
-
Yeah, bands I've seen live are all Christian, because that's what I listen too mostly. So you guys probably wouldn't care, but anyways..

Superchic[k]
Not very many...I'm more of a flat broke music junkie. Plus, not very many concerts out in my area. :P Rural midwest isn't usually the place that people go while on tour.
lem0n: I like the sound of Take Back The City. I'll check out what you mentioned.
-
Here is my CD collection if any of you want to take a look:
http://www.recordnerd.com/lists/leonardokula/
I might have about 20~30 more since I last updated, but that's about it.
-

Well...I took a quick look at it, and I'm not seeing much acoustic sound to it...any particular songs there? The reason I like Take Back The City is because of the acoustic intro, pretty much, and because it kinda transitions perfectly to the rest of the song.
As I said, I'm very picky about music. I found that I usually only like 1-2 songs on any given album. A "favorite band" means I like about 5-10 of their songs.
Exception would be acoustic rock or rapcore bands. Like TFK's Phenomenon...I like probably 8-9 out of 12 songs, and that's by far my favorite album.
-
I got to see Hawk Nelson live. Along with Run Kid Run and some local band, I think. Front row. It was awesome.
Hawk Nelson got the whole audience to start playing kazoos. It was hardcore. :P
-
Hardcore kazoo playing?
Lemme guess. You were at the Revolve tour? ;)
Hawk Nelson is pretty good. I like 3 of their songs, Zero, Friend Like That and The Show. And I like 1 Run Kid Run song, Freedom.
-

-
no linkin park?
I'm actually starting to really like rise against, even though they are very left and environmentalist, i really like their music.
I tried coldplay, but the only song I liked was viva la vida...
-
Actually, no. I decided that Linkin Park wasn't something I needed to listen to. I like the music, but Manafest is a slightly more positive alternative to the suicidal and/or obscene Linkin Park message.
-
I would have to say that Metallica is by far my favourite band....
Which would make Metal my prefered genre... but I will listen to most stuff....
Except I dislike:
Most rap. (1 or 2 of Eminem's songs are good for a laugh...)
Most techno.
Basically if it has 'real' instruments it's OK.... Anything with turntables / 'doof doof' is crap.
Metallica S&M would be the album I have listened to most.
-
You guys should try listening to classical. Chopin FTW.
-
"Requiem for a dream" :uh-huh:
-
I listen to a lot of soundtrack music (The Lord of the Rings, etc), as well as some jazz and Christian rock. Classical is good sometimes too. I can't think of a single metal or rap song I like, and hip hop is very low on the list too.
-
I just got Viva la Vida (Coldplay) and it rocks.
Anyone like Coldplay? I like Lost! and Death and All His Friends a lot.
-
most definately...I have tickets for a concert in september....woohoo
-
I just got Viva la Vida (Coldplay) and it rocks.
Anyone like Coldplay? I like Lost! and Death and All His Friends a lot.
coldplay does have some really good songs, like "speed of sound". but they are too soft to say they "rock". bands with fast and heavy e-guitars + trashing drums really rock. ;)
Metallica, Korn, Children of Bodom, Korn, NoFX, Rammstein... to name some famous which definitely rock, to my mind.
-
anyone listen to disturbed?
"TEN THOUSAND FISTS IN THE AIR!!!!!"
-
"Give your soul to me, for eternity."
Yeah...guilty pleasure. :P Indestructible is good, though.
-
Disturbed are good, especially their early stuff. I'm like that with most bands... I have been trying to enjoy Black Holes and Revelations by Muse but its not a patch on their older stuff, and I end up skipping right to Kinghts of Cydonia most times.
I used to be (still am) into HEAVY stuff, like Obituary, At the Gates, Emperor, Vader... and for those of you into a brand of music called 'Necro', Anaal Nathrakh
-
I heard Viva la vida about 2 weeks ago. within an hour I was in front of my piano with sheet music playing it.
Also like house of the rising sun (the animals version, not the muse piece of crap version.)
also hotel aquarium by falling up. It was buggin me for so long what it was called.
-
I was in the same school as the guitarist for Coldplay... I know, I know I'm really cool 8-)
-
Anyone like post hardcore stuff? :)
-
Yes! Project 86 and Blindside for starters.
-
Dude, AYREON!!!! has anyone listened to it? It's great! it's not actually a band, really, but a project made by a multi-instrumkentalist guy from the netherlands. He invited many artists and singers from various bands to make his albums. They play some kind of prog-metal/rock most of the time, but some of their songs are folk or pop-inspired
Seriously. listen to it. Some of their best albums IMO are Into the Electric Castle and 01011001.
-
I also like mild-screamo stuff: Saosin, AttackAttack!
Then there's other stuff like Relient K & Search the City; those guys are so gosh darn cute lol
-

"TEN THOUSAND FISTS IN THE AIR!!!!!"
Duuuuuuuuuuuuude, theyre awesome live, have you seen em? Saw them on the indestructible tour this year, they wheeled Draman in like hannibal lecter was class.
Its cool when they play that song cos the venue held about 5000 so with both hands up it was 10k fists in the air!
Love all four albums, its hard to pick a weak one. Even though they lost fuzz after the sickness it didnt really make much difference to me.
-
Down with the sickness!
