Yeah I'm back. It has been a while and then a again, it passed by like in the wink of the eye. I saw a lot, heard really tragic stories, saw beautiful landsides, met extraordinary people, was overwhelmed with all of it together. It has been really special, take a look at these pictures...
#1 is me giving balls away in the refugeecamp, and yeah they liked it.

#3 is a campsite in the middle of the jungle. Poor houses, close to gether, filled with people with sadning stories in a beautiful environment..weird

It's good to have you back, and it's even better that you were doing such great things while away!
Obama won the election. Did you hear?
...haha.

Wow it looks amazing. That school is quite incredible. I'm really jealous now.

Now THIS must be the most humble statement of the year! I doubt there is ANYONE with an internet connection that DIDN'T hear. :D
-
Hey, welcome back!
Looks like things worked out pretty well. I bet it was great to be able to do that.
-
Holy crap man, how tall are you? Or are they all just really short?
That looks like an amazing place, must have been a fantastic experience!
-
1,95 mtr....and yeah they are also very short. It has been a mixed emotions like experience due to the beautiful people, beautiful countryside....and yet these terrible stories about burned down villages, people hunted like animals, torture, people missing bodyparts etc, etc....
But thanks for all the warm welcome backs folks....appreciate it a lot!

Do not forget, some of us live in europe! We can not care about all politicans of all over the world. But you are right, even here, we had this news in the newspaper! I for example do not know the leader of brasil... shame on me!
Hey, Heije,
do you have more pictures about your journey? What are your impressions, what had you experienced?
-
Well at the site www.wubsnaarthailand.tk you can find some pictures. At the top of the site just click the word foto's and you'll see quite a few pictures.
My experiences, well, too much to name...I was invited by this refugee organisation to see the work they're doing. It has been a rollercoast of experiences, because not only were we treated like kings, also we have seen tragic things.
People who were banned from their villages in the middle of the night and had to see how their houses were burned down. People who were gathered in a barb-wired coral, and for a few days only got some water in the burning sun, escaped and walked in the jungle for 2 weeks so they finally found a safe place to stay.
A man who was sentensed for 8 years, only because he gave shelter to a rebelsoldier. After 6 years he died in prison because of leukemia and they think he was drinking led-poisened water.
A boy at the age 15, born in a refugeecamp, father died of torture, mother disabled due to a land-mine and he was taking care of his family. His hopes? Maybe to get out, to the US or somewhere else.
And I could go on for a while and in this way it has been quite heavy. Othersides, it has been wonderful, people being extremely friendly, hospitable and sharing even when they have almost nothing. And the countryside was impressive. I slept in a house of local people, in the middle of the jungle surrounded by darkness and noices of the jungle....
So you can imagine the mixed feelings and it has been so much that it's almost like I've been away for a month
-
That must have been an awesome, yet appaling, experience. In many ways. I wish I had a job that allowed me to travel around the globe... :( I'll go look at some photos now.
-
I'm glad to see that you're back safely. [-o< That was such a life enriching experience for you. Just out of curiosity, did you feel like you made a difference to anyone there? Or were you just there to learn about a different culture?
Thanks for sharing the pictures, the one of the school is a real eye-opener.

Me being there didn't change their lifes...immediately. But here, back in holland, I will be working on fund-raising, and today I have written an article in a newspaper, read by many people about this organisation I went with. So overall I'm working on rousing some attention for this problem, and money as well. So hopefully, I can make some kind of differnce and even the smallest is more than welcome!
