Title: Aggression Deck
Post by: GarrisonofGondor on November 18, 2008, 07:10:29 PM
Ahha, figured out a deck around this card.

 Starting:
Gandalf, Bearer of Obligation w/ The One Ring, The Binding Ring
Dain Ironfoot, King Under the Mountain
 Gimili Dwarf of Erebor
 Dwarf Guard

 Fellowship:
 Thrarin, Smith of Erebor
 2x Dwarven Axe
 2x Hand Axe
 2x Dwarven Bracers
 Ring of Fury
 Ring of Guile
 2x Belt of Erebor
 4x Defending The Keep
 4x Saved from the Fire
 4x Lord of Moria
 4x Dwarven Emmisary
 4x Aggression
 Proud and Able

Love this. Use Saved from the Fire to pull Thrarin, Aggression and Proud and Able. Pull Ring of Fury with The One Ring. After Thrarin is Loaded then you use Agression + Defending the Keep to draw your drawdeck. Then use Gimili to put all shadow cards beneth the deck. So mods, do you think I made broken Open deck?

well, you can only draw 4 cards per fellowship phase, so that hurts you. maybe gandalf isn't the best choice of ring bearer because you have to discard a lot of cards when you move.

Needs Memories of Darkness.

You can only draw a max of 4 cards in the fellowship phase. But, the broken combo is this. You have a damage +4 dwarf. You have Memories of Darkness. You play all your cards, lose initiative, (Rohirrim Guard helps here) and voila. Condition back.

So pretty much, its an auto draw 4 cards per turn for free.

I do like the Gimli idea, though. If you can cope with the opponent having virtually infinite twilight.

At this point, you may even consider Rest by Blind Night and Preparations.

See my point exactly about errata. This Gimli apparently has errata too. You can only use his abilty if you can spot fewer than [2]. So NB, obviously didn't know of this claiming that gimli is nice if you can deal with the opponent having 'virtually infinite twilight'. Death to Errata.

GASP! Dang errata.

Meh. Never touched that Gimli before. DIE EVIL ERRATUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good catch. Scratch that. Go with the one that protects your conditions. actually, I'd cut the Gandalf thing and go Gimli RB. Gimli RB + Ring of Fury = Aggression's starting to work now. :D

I'd probably use Frodo. Using a Gimli RB reduces the effectiveness. Stupid errata though. Should have just X-listed Dwarf of Erebor so anybody who plays Open can use him. :gp: for the awesome brokeness though.  :uh-huh: :D

Well the Point of this deck is to hope you pull enough possesions and stuff first turn. That way, you keep using aggression + Defending the Keep and draw your whole drawdeck first turn. Then use Gimili to place shadow cards back. If you use Fiend for shadow then this is a good filter deck. Another option is to run 2x Dwarf Guard and burn the second one to pull 3x Defending the Keep.

but what we're saying is that it doesn't work. according to the rules you may only draw 4 cards per fellowship phase. not to mention there is an errata on gimli, dwarf of erebor so you can't drop your whole shadow side back into your draw deck.

Oh, well could a mod move this to the Pre-Errata and Pre-X-list child board. Then it could work.

No, Garrison.

The rules say that you can only draw a maximum of 4 cards per fellowship phase. Once you draw 4 cards, it doesn't matter if you have the ability to draw another, you're not allowed to. Its there to prevent a massive cycle engine like you got.

But still. Operating on 4 cards per turn is pretty sweet.
