...to build a [good] deck using only ARBs as companions - and at least 5 of them in your fellowship!
-
*The One Ring, The Ring of Rings(11R1)
*Gandalf, Bearer of Obligation (RB)(13R33)
Fellowship (33)
2x *Narsil, Forged by Telchar(17R31)
4x *Boromir, Bearer of Council(9R+31)
1x *Erland, Dale Counselor(11R30)
4x *Faramir, Bearer of Quality(17R28)
1x *Gimli, Bearer of Grudges(9R+4)
4x *Isildur, Bearer of Heirlooms(9R+33)
4x Inspiration(11C36)
2x Out of High Airs (10R17)
4x Sharpen Your Swords(7U47)
2x Traveled Leader(12C34)
2x *Glamdring, Orc Beater(17R18)
1x *Shadowfax, Greatest of the Mearas(17R24)
2x Armor of the White City(18C39)
I wanted to be first. However, this deck is not good, so I dont know if it meets your requirements.

Erland, Dale Counselor [-X
-
Yeah, cheater. I know he's a Ring-bearer in the books, but Erland can't be one in the game!
-
The problem I was having was starting fellowship. Either Gandalf starts with another ARB, the rest cost 3 so you cant combine them >:(
-
The RB Gondor/Shire/Gandalf deck: (32)
Starting:
[Ring] The One Ring, The Ring of Rings (Ring)
[Shire] Sam, Bearer of Great Need (Ringbearer)
[Gandalf] Gandalf, Bearer of Obligation (Starting)
Companions: 9
[Gondor] Boromir, Bearer of Council x2
[Gondor] Isildur, Bearer of Heirlooms x2
[Gondor] Faramir, Bearer of Quality x4
Artifacts: 4
[Gondor] Narsil, Blade of the Faithful x2
[Gandalf] Gandalf's Staff x2
Possessions: 4
[Gondor] Blade of Gondor x1
[Gondor] Glamdring x2
[Shire] Sting, Weapon of Heritage x1
Conditions: x9
[Gondor] G for Grand x3
[Gandalf] Saved from the Fire x4
[Gondor] Gondor Bowmen x2
Events: 8
[Gondor] Dagger Strike x2
[Gandalf] Servant of the Secret Fire x4
Strategy: Burn Faramir, BoQ to fetch Narsil, BotF, Blade of Gondor and Gondor Bowmen.
Then play with your mixed bag of [Gondor] and [Gandalf] stuff. :P
-
You sure you can burn a [Gondor] companion to play a [Shire] card (namely, Weapon of Heritage )?
-
Oops. I changed it to Gandalf's Staff.
-
You still can't burn a [gondor] companion and grab a [gandalf] card. If you burn a [gondor] companion you have to grab [gondor] cards.
-
ooo, i'll give this a go sometime
-
Hm....the problem is that all the Gondor RBs are 3 twilight, making it difficult to start them.
But lemme think.
Gimli RB is the best splash RB for cycling purposes, automatic access to Calculated Risk.
Then the Gondor RBs with an artifact for Isildur.
Armor of the White City x 3
Sam, Bearer of Great Need for use with Robin Smallburrow to clear out any pesky minions that survive.
DOUBLE!
I'll put it together later. Still trying to rack my brain cramming 3 companions in the starting fellowship.
-
for 3 comps in the starting fellowship I would say Any non-shire ARB (Faramir or maybe Boromir) and the Bilbo, Sam and a pretty useless Smeagol (since he will toss all none ring-bound comps when you move and his special ability only works when he is the ring-bearer). Are the ARB still considered ring-bound when they aren't the ring-bearer since they all have the ring symbol around their resistance? If so then all the ARB will be safe from Smeagol's text.
Run Daddy Twofoot and No Vistors if you can find a good way of peeling the burdens that is . Best way to run an ARB deck and not get killed quickly. Maybe even run Boromir ARB and find ways to pump him up strong and cancel the skirmishes the the hobbit and smeagol face and let Boromir take the wounds when assigned and run Citadel of Minas Tirith to reheal him each turn. I guess I might give this a try after awhile if noone else works my idea out before I can .
-
Nope, ARBs aren't ring-bound unless they're the RB.
Here's an idea.
Gimli RB
Start Bilbo and Sam
Boromir and Isildur come out with some Armor of the White City and artifacts for Isildur, making them the beatsticks.
Gimli draws cards, Bilbo does Tale thingy with Hardy Garrison racket thrown in to wound all the minions to death. Sam takes care of any left over minions.
DOUBLE!
Perhaps? This is the best way, I think, to have each companion actually be useful and not just thrown in b/c he's an ARB.
-
start with frodo, resolute hobbit and great ring + smeagol + bilbo + sam and run the ringbound hobbits with smeagol super choke. as 5th comp you could take isildur + narsil for fighting.
what do you think?!
-
No Frodo allowed, though. That's okay, but Smeagol's text isn't really able to be used. Perhaps try this with Gimli, Bearer of Grudges, since Frodo isn't allowed, and Isildur for the fifth companion.
I love how nobody likes Galadriel. :D Die stupid elf.
-
why frodo isn't allowed... did'nt read it??
-
He is not an alternate ring-bearer.
-
He is not an alternate ring-bearer.
got it, thx.

I love how nobody likes Galadriel. :D Die stupid elf.

Well, I am sure it is not the best deck, but I like it, as I can tell so far....
Galadriel might have strength 6 and resistance 11
