Ick. Linkin Park used to be a sweet band. They were pretty family friendly and had a sweet sound with Hybrid Theory and Meteora.
Then with Minutes to Midnight they decided to simultaneously introduce new (bad) music and offensive lyrics. Well that was stupid.
And then I listened to their new album and I'm no longer a fan. They open with a slew of profanity, not to mention the Numb/Encore mashup ft Jay-Z, and later in the album, they keep up the trend of frequently using the f-bomb.
I'm really disappointed in Linkin Park. I used to like 'em a lot, but then they released this thing called Minutes to Midnight and its unfortunately been downhill ever since.
I'm gonna go listen to Meteora, the last great Linkin Park album. Maybe some Hybrid Theory.

Sorry to disagree, but Minutes to Midnight is an amazing album, it's really astonishing how they were able to push the boundaries of their style and accomodate different kinds of songs. When Meteora came out, I thought it sucked until I gave it the proper attention. Then, I thought it was their best work. Same thing's been happening with Minutes to Midnight lately. Seriously, how can you not like a song like Hands Held High? It's so amazing it almost brings tears to my eyes when I listen to it.

They were good until they started making songs on politics. That song is SO a socialist manifesto.
I will give them one good song from the album. What I've Done is really good.

You wouldn't be saying that if they were writing songs about how glorious capitalism is. You don't have a problem with political songs you just have a problem with political songs you don't agree with. Plus its not really socialist its just anti-iraq and anti-bush.
I have been a fan of Linkin Park since I was 11 and Hybrid Theory came out and I got to say Minutes to Midnight is by far my favourite of their albums. Its much more positive in its lyrics. I mean you say you have a problem with the swearing but they only say the f word twice on the whole album and the lyrics themselves are a lot less depressing than those on their earlier albums. The Little Things Give You Away is an awesome song as are Shadow of the Day and In Between.

NB, all of those reasons you gave for why you believe MtM is a bad album are the exact same reasons I gave for why I love it more than anything else they've released.
Using "offensive" language, which isn't really offensive because just about everybody talks that way these days, pushes away the younger crowd and immediately brings an importance and strength to the lyrics. It's not abused; rather used to specific importance. They talk about their dislike for Bush because they obviously feel strongly about it... and that's a great thing. Not liking it because it might not line up with your political ideology is silly because it's music, not debate.
I bought MtM opening day and my already-high expectations for it were blown apart. It's deeper than their earlier work and in my eyes they can only get better. I respect your opinion (everyone is entitled to one), but I do think it's rather silly to shun a group for using the "f-bomb." It's a word with a meaning that mostly overprotective mothers have made into something evil.

Actually, not. I don't think that musicians should be into politics really at all.
But dropping the f-bomb does make me mad, yes.

It should have the F-word written on the side. Then again, Kralik would drop Admin bombs. Everyone loves A-bombs. :D
