Does it work? It seems... unstable. Then again, so does Elfball, and it's wrecking Extended left and right.
-
I'm working on a sideboard right now, actually, because it is a bit unstable.
I'm gonna maindeck Gilt-Leaf Palace, run Thoughtseize, Guttural Response, Glen Elendra Archmage and Vexing Shusher sideboard.
-
Well, it's not really a "combo" deck, seeing as it doesn't really kill in one shot unless the game goes absurdly long. Also, it dies horribly to Pyroclasm, Charms, Wrath, Firespout, not to mention killing/discarding/countering the key cards. I don't really think it's reliable, perhaps go for a token deck and splash for the red sorcery as a surprise finisher, tops.
-
No, actually, it goes off turn 3 or 4 often. Llanowar Elves ramps to Elvish Harbinger on 2, and that means a turn 3 Druid into a Promenade, turn 4 Melody into a Promenade into Roar.
-
Wasn't able to pull it off.
-
Huh?
-
Wasn't able to reliably pull off that combo you suggested. Most of the time the game dragged itself until I could combo off, the combo is highly disruptable since it requires many key pieces and specific game states (key pieces and game states that most decks have maindecked answers to) and the deck does not have enough gas to recover and try to combo again, NOR to pack a punch if combo'ing out is not an option. I think it might be doable, but it needs quite a bit of work.
-
Perfect + a horde of tokens isn't a big punch? :S
-
Not when a two-mana Pyroclasm wipes the floor with them or a well-timed terror leaves you with a bunch (and not THAT big bungh) of 1/1 losers on the 3rd-4th turn, and not much else.
-
So how do you run a token deck then?
-
I saw a great one revolving around Imperious Perfect and Intruder Alarm to make tokens eot. Of course, it was Extended back then. For token decks, you either need to produce them with few resources (like, for instance, a trio of Thallids, churning out 2-3 tokens every other turn), or produce them quickly enough to win on their back (like Crapstorm did, with Empty the Warrens, back during Ravnica/Time Spiral/Coldsnap/9th Standard). Or you could simply make tokens a subtheme, for instance, a deck packing black and red can either try to swarm with tokens, finishing with burn, or slap a Loxodon Warhammer on top of a Nantuko Husk and start swinging.

oh gosh
i guess you gues know this stuff is dead confusing fpr a beginner like me
what kind of deck would you recommend me to start of with?
elv - nazgul?
-
Arwen91: This is about Magic!
I would recommand a starter deck - choose one, that contains cultures you like to play with. There are a lot of starters, indeed. However, I recommand you far more to play the "special-for-Arwen91" composed deck. I was very hard working on it. :uh-huh:

You Do realize that's probably a bot, right?

I doubt it, actually, there's no sig or anything to advertise. :P
