Post by: menace64 on December 05, 2008, 09:27:05 AM
Any of you play? I'm currently trying to talk myself out of buying into the game...

Not yet. I'm getting paid today, and I'm thinking of taking $40 of it and buying the game. If I do I'll play for that free month and longer if I like it.

I dunno. I'm pretty poor - living as the undercurrent of society is rough!

yeah, i started a couple online games, but pretty much decided that they don't help me get anywhere in life. (unless you count the 800 gold a week for being head of the mage's guild...)

and i too am poor, so every bit of money i can save gets put in the bank for important things, like college, cars, houses, wives...

Do you mean LOTRO with the recent expension Mines of Moria?
I play about 9 months now and i'm loving it. Close to the lore, great graphics, great storyline.

You can always try the trial. :)

This does look sweet but MMORPG just seems to time consuming!

by the way, i think this polygamy topic needs to either die, or be split. we are jacking up menaces thread, and i know i wouldn't want this going on if i had started the thread, so out of respect for menace, lets get this off of here.

In fact, I went ahead and deleted it all.

Back on topic... I very nearly bought the game but had a moment of maturity and decided against it. The economy is so shaky right now and my job is such that I'll probably be laid off in the near-future (who really *needs* arcade game repair men?). I am taken with the idea of spending three-dimensional time in Middle-earth and can't wait to see what comes out next.

Right now you can explore Eriador and Moria. I don't know what expansion is next. I hope that some day the whole of Middle-earth is open - at that point I'd be crazy *not* to play.

Oh, and this game isn't 5 years old. It came out about a year ago and has only had 1 expansion so far, with many more planned.

Yeah. It's always a mistake to derail a mod's thread. I've seen it a hundred times and, sadly, it just never ends well.

I tried Middle-Earth online for a couple days, but with my hectic schedule (school fulltime and work full time) I just couldn't find the time to play. I do love the idea of being able to explore Middle Earth though.  \:D/ I will probably give it a try in January. I used to play Warcraft and Dark Age of Camelot online, so a game with no Pvp will be interesting.  :-k

I used to play lotro. It is very similar to wow. Lotro is very Fun but very time consuming. If you are into all things Tolkien, which I assume you are seeing you are posting on TLHH, then I am sure you will enjoy lotro.  I have been very tempted to start again myself since the new expansion has been released.
