If I'm not mistaken, inhabitants of the Magic multiverse don't use B-17s...

Yes, hence the term "planeswalker."

Although there are plains in MtG as well.

Yep, they live in Planes, not Plains. Plains is a kind of terrain you'll find in each and every Plane of Magic, but they're not the same. Also, Planeswalker and "Plainswalk" written on a card make one HECK of a difference! :P

Ya, planeswalker = cool broken stuff to pummel your opponent if it goes of correctly, plainswalk = evasion (maybe).
