I read a writing-inspiration book a while back that said something along the lines of "you are a writer if you've put a word on the page - you don't need to be published to be a writer."
Since I've actually started writing my book, I've begun referring to myself as "a writer" instead of "an arcade game repairman" or "a college dropout" which has been refreshing, to say the least.
What do you consider yourself? "A student"? "An assassin"? When somebody asks you what you do, what do you say?

An apprentice. preparing for life.

New father. In other words: exhausted, confused, and yet amazingly happy. Thin line between new fatherhood and insanity, and it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between the two. :P

Nerd. What else can you say when you sit and program computers all day long.

"Hardworking man"? ;)

English Major.
...which isn't actually true, given that:
1. I haven't declared a major yet (I'm still in my first year of college)
2. When I do declare a major, I'm gonna be a history major, not english.
Oh, yeah. And writer works, too.

Other than that, hacker or geek will do nicely.
