Post by: Yanko Markovic on December 20, 2008, 04:52:10 PM
is there any good (not extra-super-powerful, but good gandalf deck I can make without spending more than $60? (if there is one that costs LESS than that, it's welcome )

Um...almost all decks anymore can be built for under 60.

I recommend expanded ents. You can build that for like...uh...$10 or so.

Try Gandalf-Starter-Deck of shadows. You can add some cards:
Glamdring, Foe-hammer
New Authority
Prolonged struggle
Pallando, far-travelling one
For a while less dark
Pippin, brave decoy
Tom Bombadil, the master
Shadowfax, greatest of the mearas
Stern Words
Phial of galadriel, star glass
Borne far away

Strategy: Pippin replaces each skirmish - you can push him with events (so you actually just needs Hobbit events. Sworn Companion!!!)or cancel his skirmishes with Tom Bombadil.

Agreed with ents. A c/u ent deck usually does the job, and gets people mad at you cause ur deck is so stupid and vanilla and still they are having a hard time beating it :p

And if you can grab some new-age stuff for it (G for Grand, Gandy R-B perhaps?) then you've got yourself a really hardcore deck.

I hear this quite often, but Sitenumbers (needed for bombadil`s action) do not apply in post shadows sites or do they?
because if they do I`m quite happy with my Grimbold marshal of rohan. that means he can also do his thing in a standard game.

I know that Tom may not participate in archery fire and skirmishes at site 2. But I never thought about his ability at post-mountdoom sites.

But even the "new" sites get sitenumbers. So do number 3 and 6 get sanctuary.

An other question: There is an Gollum condition, that says each site nine gets mountain or so. Are the newer ones not affected by this cards?

Thanks a lot,
Elrohir

Cards that say "any site X" still work, like Anduril, FotW and Final Strike, but I'm not sure about the exact rulings for it. I know for sure that Grimbold and Ulaire Nelya, LoM do not work with the post shadow sites, but I can't explain it :D

The new sites don't have a site number until they're played on the adventure path. Cards like Tom Bombadil and Final Strike work because they deal only with site numbers there. However cards that deal with site numbers in an adventure deck won't, such as Grimbold and Ulaire Nelya, LoM. (You don't have a "site of the same number" because the sites in your adventure deck don't have numbers.)
