Title: UWB Control
Post by: TheJord on January 04, 2009, 07:23:37 AM
I was thinking of an Exalted control deck

Jhessian Infiltrator
Rafiq of the Many
Assorted Exalted crits
Giant Growth

Possible a Clarion Ultimatum for the finish, but I think a double-strike unblockable 6/6 Jhessian Infiltrator should do.

I've seen the theme built, and there's also a nice article on mtgsalvation, from last week, that mentions an Exalted build, but I must say I'm still less than impressed by it. You have all those creatures lying around there, and really, just smashing face with them would do the trick anyway most of the time. Exalted is an AMAZING Limited mechanic, one that you CAN build around in Drafts specially, which can break the stalemates Limited games usually end up being, but as far as constructed go, I'm not fond of it. I'd much rather simply drop an Overbeing of Myth and smash in than have to protect 4-5 creatures to be able to smash in for the win.

I've seen a variant of the smash deck run with Shorecrasher Mimic. Tons of removal, Rafiq = 6/4 doublestrike mimic, even more if you've already dropped some Akrasan Squires.

The deck I saw had Shorecrasher and Rhox War Monk

The monk rocks as a defensive move. He blocks and lifeswings and typically beats the weenies/tokens running crazy in t2 now.

Not to mention he dodges Firespout, Agony Warp and Infest, basically any removal spell outside Terror and Flame Javelin.
