of Magic today. It was interesting, I lost the 2nd one, but won the first one. partially because the kid who taught me brought his good deck out for the second one.
I played with a water deck both times...it was certainly a lot more easy to learn than LOTR...
-
heeh, hehe, water deck... hee... you mean blue, right?
-
whatever ;)
-
Magic IS easier to learn, at least enough to get the first few games rolling. When you start playing better, however, is when the game gets trickier. What I like about MtG is that games tend to go fast, don't you think so?
-
Faster than LotR, especially when you're learning. Though a pro-level Magic game gets over really quick, sometimes, eh?
Well, if SoP embraces MtG, we'll have quite the crowd, eh?
If you're artifact obsession extends into MtG, man, I'd suggest some (B) / (U) / (W) Esper stuff. Hah.
-
Oh yeah, that's the way to go! Sanctum Gargoyle, Esper Charm, the annoying zombie, Tydehollow Strix, Salvage Titan, good stuff, good stuff.
-
what's the annoying zombie?
-
I can't remember his name for the life of mine. He's a 2/2 artifact zombie from Shards of Alara, costing BW, that lets you look at their hand and remove a card as long as the zombie remains in play.
-
Hollowtide sculler? no, wait. TIDEHOLLOW sculler! yeeeeahh...
-
THANK YOU! It was driving me INSANE trying to remeber his name. Yeah, that's the one. Esper is really fun to play with in block!
-
its really annoying how the cards don't link anywhere here.
I'm not planning on buying any magic, but...how many artifacts would you say there are?
-
Roughly a thousand, I'd guess.
Artifacts are very common. Like, in this last set, i'm pretty sure there were uh...probably 30 or so. And then with Mirrodin Block, everything was artifact, so...a lot more than LotR.
-
never mind than ;)
-
Plus, if he wanted ALL of 'em, he'd have to find a Black Lotus somewhere.
-
I could get you one for about $120
-
I'm good
-
I could get you one for about $120
SERIOUSLY? I'd want one.
-

that sounded like sarcasm ¬¬...
No, really :suspect:
-
No, it really was. It drove me nearly insane because I couldn't access gatherer from work, and I KNEW it was one of the cards I loved the most when Alara was spoiled, and also I play it in my BW aggro, my Reveillark AND my Extended Domain Zoo, so I SHOULD remember his name.
-

Totally! Last I knew the cheapest were like $600.
Not to mention he'd also need all the moxes though, so be ready to dish out about $3000-$4000

I played a couple of games. If I were to buy a starter deck from say, a local Walmart, which one should I get?
-
I suggest a Shadow Starter; Gandalf or Eowyn are those I prefer.
-
I meant MtG...But thanks. Unfortunately, nobody in my area sells starters anymore.
-
I would suggest that you buy 2 Naya Behemoth decks from Shards of Alara.
7 Forest
2 Jungle Shrine
3 Mountain
2 Naya Panorama
3 Plains
17 lands
1 Bull Cerodon
1 Cavern Thoctar
2 Cylian Elf
2 Druid of the Anima
1 Mosstodon
1 Naya Battlemage
2 Rakeclaw Gargantuan
1 Spearbreaker Behemoth
2 Wild Nacatl
2 Woolly Thoctar
1 Blaze
2 Giant Growth
2 Gift of the Gargantuan
1 Naturalize
2 Rampant Growth
1 Titanic Ultimatum
Then you can make it a full set of Jungle Shrine, Wild Nacatl and Woolly Thoctar, Druid of the Anima and a pair of Bull Cerodons. But I prefer Steward of Valeron over Druid of the Anima anyways. From that point, you can add a bunch of the extra cards to help it along.
-
Ok, Thanks. When did the Naya Behemoth decks come out?
-
Alongisde the Shards of Alara expansion. A while back, maybe 4-6 months?
-
OK. THe reason I asked is because I might be able to get them at our local Walmart, but it normally doesn't carry stuff for too long in the trading card/sports cards department.
-
It should have Shards stuff. Conflux is the only other set to come out, and they usually carry two sets at a time.
