Title: So, I Love Winter.
Post by: Elf_Lvr on January 16, 2009, 08:13:36 AM
Temperatures around here have been around a high of like, 3 degrees Fahrenheit for the past couple of days. For where I live, that's unusual. Plus, we had some pretty heavy snowfall the past couple days as well. Yes, it is very pretty.

But the most beautiful part of it is the fact that it extends my weekend to 5 days, as I got out of school yesterday and today.

So, I'm very happy.  ;D More time for TLHH!

So, how's the weather around the REST of the world?

8° F around here today. Yeah, doesn't usually get that cold in the DC area, either. No snow, unfortunately. I love snow, but much of it gets caught up in the Allegheny Mountains and doesn't get this far east.

Stupid Alleghenies. >:(

Well, they DO have a funny name. Don't hate 'em!

Try saying "Alleghenies" ten times fast. You probably could, but I'd still probably get a kick out of it.

Down to 7? last night. Actually lost power due to winds but got it back. Currently hanging in the low 20s, but tonight it's gonna drop near zero.

We have here -2 to -11 Celsius degrees - all covered in snow and ice. I love it. But it is still much warmer than it was in the last years due to the global warming  :'(

Temperatures here are ranging from 21ºC to 31ºC. However, I DO live in a crazy city, so for the last 3 days (and probably today, as well) I get to work around noon with 31ºC and a bright sun, see as the sky darkens until around 3-4 o'clock, then a storm drops, heavy HEAVY rain, temperature around 18-21º C, then by the time it hits 5 o'clock it's bright and sunny again, closing in on 28º C, and by the time I leave, at 7 p.m., it's around 25-26º C, with no sun and the sky beggining to darken again for the night rainstorm. Seriously, it happened EXACTLY like this the last 3 days, and today it's coming down to it again.

I. hate. you. all.  its much colder than before, just like last year. record setting.  hit -34  water yesterday, with wind chill it was -50 at times.  We get a 4 day weekend.  we're at a balmy 0 right now. (Fahrenheit)  and the snow. don't even get me started on the snow.  At the bottom of our driveways its hard to shovel cause it roughly 6 ft tall on either side.  the lowest points have around 18 inches of snow, 2 ft isn't uncommon.  its ridiculous.

Next spring I'm burning tires. we need some global warming around here ;)

lol.  because I stay inside, or risk certain death in the freezing cold. no joke.  yesterday when I did my paper route I had ankle socks, socks, boots, jeans, snowpants, underamor shirt, T-shirt, coat, balaclava, 2 pairs of gloves.  And I was still cold.

I biked some forest trails with some of my friends yesterday. It was 19º F for most of the day.
I made the mistake of wearing a thin pair of gloves and thin socks... *brrrrrrrr*

kick...well, I'll stop whining about the weather then...Though freezing that would mean an Elf Stedentocht over here, an heroic iceskating contest over 200 kilometre...but the last one was in 1997....

I read online a few days ago that it was on, the canals were all frozen so it could be done.

Microwave some baklava and stuff it down your shirt and pants, that'll keep you warm, uncomfortable, but warm nonetheless.

Not really, allthough a lot of people, in Fryslan, a province I'm working -also the first foreign state ever to recognize the US, were hoping. They are very much into skating, consider themselves to be 'real' Dutch -all the others are lame-  and they allways hope for an Elf Stedentocht. If weatherconditions were the other way around, in the south of holland temperatures dropped to -20 degrees, there might have been one. For now we just wait....

It's pretty cold where I'm at with it being only 60ºF-70ºF.

Winter is an especially rotten time for me to be alive. Not only am I as thinly-built as a person can be (not a pinch of blubber to be found) but my thyroid condition makes me much more sensitive to cold temperatures. I wish I could hibernate.

It's pretty cold where I'm at with it being only 60ºF-70ºF.

Do not anger me, young Uruk.

Yeah. And here we're seeing temperatures that are setting record lows.

Must be continental warming.

Hey, we are in the middle of the winter (well, in the north, however...).
Normally it gets about -18 C degrees (during night).

If we are cold, we can put on some "baklavas"  :uh-huh:

But what will we do, if it is getting hotter and hotter? Running naked to work? :o

do you have to have a coffin of fresh dirt?
Title: Re: So, I Love Winter.
Post by: FM on January 17, 2009, 08:08:39 AM
Actually, the rules state that we have to sleep in the grounds where we were created, so the coffin would do, but the dirt is to transport the coffin for other locations, you see, we lawyers have a way to distort and get around even THAT! ;)
