Thought I would take a poll.
tell me your thoughts, and I'll chip in my 2c later on, to avoid being pounded by zealots :hey:
-
Well, I'll vote, but considering that very few people here have even tried GCCG...
-
GCCG, lobby, nice images, good system, no need of direct connect.

I was afraid of that. But a little experience (for me) shows that pros WAY outweight the cons, and that it is way more stable the SdA. SdA has crashed 1 out of 4 times.
The gui/ui can be a bit intimidating at first, but takes some getting used to. My game with Kralik tonight was weird, whenever I wanted to add a token an infinite loop would happen and the game would add, like, 40 burdens...

It only happened right at the beginning of the game, and I haven't seen it before (I've played around 15 games so far), so I suspect it was either a fluke or something with your computer. :P
EDIT: Were you using the mouse or a keyboard shortcut? If using the keyboard shortcut, keep in mind that if you hold it down your keyboard will start repeating the lettersssssssssssssssssssssss sssssssssssssssssssssssssssss .

I voted for GCCG, and yes, I have played extensively in both platforms. GCCG's lobby, shortcuts and the fact that you can watch other people's games makes it superior.
-
I just start at gccg, but i think it´s a way ahead of sda (which i have been playing for more time). One good thing of it is that you can talk directly with the programers to make suggestions of improvement, and it´s likely you will be heard.
I didn´t experience bug problems (drop-out in the middle of a game) like a had on sda, at least until now. And i like the chat and the possibility of just watch the games. I think it´s a nice plataform to run some kind of online tournament.
For all that and some things more i have to go with GCCG!

Actually, then I hadn't found out that moving the mouse over the card while pressing the shortcut activates it. I thought I had to hold down the shortcut while clicking the card. I know how it works now.
I hear that Kralik and WLK are working on an update to GCCG later today. I'm pretty sure that certain "cosmetic" changes will take place, such as "add/remove 1 red token" will be replaced with "wound", etc. I'm excited for the announcement from wlk.

Those changes are done, so you should see that update shortly. As you said, it's not really a change in functionality, just trying to make the interface cosmetically more LotR-like. :)
Note: There's really no reason to left-click a card on the table since the shortcuts work when the mouse is simply over the card.

SdA for the moment. It has a cleaner interface and works just fine,
I don't like how Gccg displays your hand and I'd prefer it to be
cleaned up a bit. In the future I'm sure it will, for now though, SdA!

What were you wanting? It could probably be done. In any case, I have my hand displayed in wide/small format (not diagonal). Looks like a real hand (spread out horizontally).

Well having tried GCCG yesterday, all I can say is I'm amazed!!! SdA is really poor compared to GCCG and all it's possiblities! The lobby is great, the collection manager is great and the stuff to buy is so much fun!! I just spent my whole 100$ yday :(:(
-
Play and you will get more.
AND Gatetroll: You can rightlick on your hand and choose another layout, that helps. I usually have my cards diagoanlly stacked above ach other. So you see card titles.
-
GCCG is by far the better.
-
wait stuff to buy? does gccg cost money? what is this stuff you buy?

No, there is a for-fun virtual collecting and trading system. Playing games gives you virtual money (more for wins) which lets you buy virtual starters/boosters and open them. It does not cost any real money. And you can always play games without doing all that, but it is fun to open packs. :)
-
ah IC. so how many cards do you start out with than?

You are always able to use all cards. But to buy packs, collect, and trade, you have $100 to start.
-
You get promos, though if you only use cards you bought, right?
-
Yup. SO play a sealed deck or so :)
-
Imho this poll is biased. If you vote SdA people are constantly trying to convince you to change your mind.
-
People is just giving away their opinions, answering questions, and of course encouraging other players to use GCCG because they think it helps the community more than SDA, what's wrong with that?

OTOH, I wonder how many people voted SdA who haven't yet played a game on GCCG. Logging into the lobby and giving up doesn't count. ;)

Hmm, we should make a youtueb video tutorial or so :)
