Hi guys,
what do you think - what is the most valueable single card - from all sets - perhaps ex- or including this one Aragorn Promo card?
Let us know your opinions!
-
The (arguably) most valuable card The One Ring, Answer to All Riddles when it was accidentally printed in foil.
-
Don't some foreign promos/releases go for insane amounts? Not sure if they became easier to get later, though.
Looked up the "Most Wanted" list on Mahasamatman. These might not directly translate to "most valuable," but for what it's worth:
30 Arwen, Maiden of Rivendell
26 Frodo, Mr Underhill
25 Éomer, Forthwith Banished
25 Gandalf, Stormcrow
25 Bilbo, Aged Ring-Bearer (foil)
24 Gimli, Dwarven Delegate
23 Boromir, Steward's Heir
21 Gimli, Eager Hunter (foil)
19 Theodred, Second Marshal Of The Mark (foil)
19 The One Ring, The Ring of Doom
19 Relentless Warg
19 Gil-galad, High King of the Noldor
19 Beorning Axe
18 Saruman, Servant of Sauron
18 Ordnance Grunt (foil)
18 Isengard Marauder (foil)
18 Faramir, Prince of Ithilien (foil)
18 Faramir, Bearer of Quality
18 Aragorn's Bow, Ranger's Longbow
17 Úlairë Otsëa, Duplicitous Specter (AI) (foil)
17 You Do Not Know Fear
17 Watcher at Sarn Ford, Ranger of the North (promo) (foil)
17 Uglúk, Ugly Fellow
17 The One Ring, Answer to All Riddles (foil)
17 Saruman, Agent of the Dark Lord (foil)
-
18 Isengard Marauder (foil)

*LOL*... that's a promo foil, isn't it? And not, like, some regular foil.
Man, I thought Relentless Warg would be one of the easiest cards to get back when I was thinking about building a Troll swarm deck. And then I saw the prices.
-
I put my spare Relentless Warg up for trade and had about 9 emails in a few days.
-
Foil versions of Noble Leaders and AtAR fetch hefty prices. And any Masterworks stuff is big money too. I sold an Aragorn DoR MW about two years ago for $22 USD. Can't imagine what it would be worth now.

[shameless pitch]I have 4 for sale if youre interested, and no im not joking :D[/shameless pitch]
If you dont count promos i reckon the aforementioned Warg, Saruman the follower, Bill Ferny or Giant among the Swertings possibly.
Cheers

Aragorn's Bow, Ranger Longbow too

For Rizzle? I have one that I don't really need...lol.
anyway I remember litbro, BTO and myself bought 8 hunters boosters. BtO got a RF gorbag, I got Rangers longbow, and litbro got Thorongil. Needless to say we got a ton of stuff, litbro has 2 decks, both ok that were basically made from that trade.

What about the common one ring in foil?
-
I know Olorin said it but 0P127 is the single most expensive card hands down, due to it being one of a kind.

Funny, Centurion just pulled a foil ATAR a few weeks ago...
-
I doubt anyone knows the answer to this question but...
Speaking of the Aragorn 0P127 unique foil...
If there was one printed that leaked...could there not be a box of 500 of them laying around somewhere waiting to be found (or knowingly stored up that will begin surfacing on e-bay one by one like the Bilbo, Aged Ring Bearer foils that used to be impossible to find?
Anyone have any clues or guesses?
ghhhk

I think it is very hard to say which card is the most valuable, because there are lots and lots of cards that cannot be priced since they are hardly being sold and are simply off the radar of most people.
I am collecting foil sets 1-10 and many cards I am looking for simply do not show up or are buried in bulk deals when people sell off their collections. Those that still take an interest in the game are after the later sets and promos whereas the cards from the movie block are by and large impossible to price. Once in a blue moon someone like me comes along who is looking for a particular card from those sets apart from the very few prestigious chase rares.
The same is probably true for the price of complete foil sets. They are being sold not very often so prices for those are all over the place as well, since so few people are actually aware of them. It is just too bad that the foils are so scattered and pretty hard to compile :(
I don't know where that leaves us. We'll probably know more if decipher relaunches the game when The Hobbit opens in theaters...

I know what you mean by "lesser" cards sometimes being harder to find. You mentioned STCCG in another thread; eBay / online stores have pretty much every 1E rare imaginable, but commons/uncommons have been insanely difficult to find. I was half joking to myself that if I wanted to load up my Battle Bridge side deck with Plasma Torpedo, it might've been easier to scoop up the promo foils on eBay, rather than hunt down the regular Blaze of Glory commons (but sanity won out). Thankfully someone on TCC was able to help me out with my wants.
On the LotR side, I've been searching for Green Hill Country foil on eBay for 2 years. Might've missed it, but I'm starting to think opening up the page one day and landing on it will be a miracle.

You guys are so right... sometimes the rarest rares and promos are right on our face, we just don't have what it takes to trade them or buy them, but it can be found. But there are those stupid cards nobody cares but you want for some reason and you just can't find it :(
-
Oh yes, the infamous Tactic commons from BoG. I got used to playing with proxies. It may not be pretty, but it works. And it beats the time and trouble hunting down those commons.
Cheers!
P.S.: Elessar'S Socks, if you pm me your address, you just might get in the mail what you are looking for on ebay.... ;)
