Title: movie block far-fetched shadow
Post by: daisukeman on January 30, 2009, 11:19:38 AM
I'm wanting to hear observations about this idea (is it really to hard for it to work?):

4 x Freca
3 x Hill Chief
3 x Saruman, Rabble-rouser
2 x Dunlending Headman
3 x Hillman Rabble
3 x Hides
2 x No Refuge
2 x No Retreat
2 x Constantly Threatening
1 x A Fell Voice on the Air
3 x Wizard Storm
1 x Uruk-hai Marauder
3 x Uruk Trooper

I know the multi-culture shadow part has issues. But that's why I'm trying to work it so I can see combined the hateful push at site 6K ( No Retreat ) with something like this:
Wizard Storm + Saruman, Rabble-rouser + Minas Tirith First Circle
Thus, not healing in sanctuary site 6 and getting a lot of extra wounds with minions and twilight around has got to hurt.

if you could pull it off I could see it killing an entire fellowship

with hides preventing wounds I could definitly see it happening.

The combo seems pretty hard to pull off, as it will HAVE to happen at site 6. At least in Expanded and Crags of Emyn Muil you have all of region 2 to try.

You need Saruman, Rabble-rouser, another [Dunlend] minion, an [Isengard] minion for the Wizard Storm, and the 2 [Dunlend] minions need to survive... you already thrashing the twilight as it is.

I like the idea, dont get me wrong! Decks that cause this much punishment in one go are always great, but I recommend Expanded, use Crags of Emyn Muil and the Deceived Wizards.

ok.. I'll apply the advice. Anyway I already have a change: 1 extra hides for 1 less wizard storm.
About:

You need Saruman, Rabble-rouser, another [Dunlend] minion, an [Isengard] minion for the Wizard Storm, and the 2 [Dunlend] minions need to survive... you already thrashing the twilight as it is.

I only really need 2 [dunland] men minions at the end of regroup site 6K.
Saruman is an extra that hits really hard, and helps in order to not having a wizard storm in hand and playing it with a fell voice in the air. Hides are the way for those [dunland] men to survive.
I expect on site 6K shadow to have an Uruk Trooper stacked on a site so I can play him from the site and therefore see the [isengard] minion to exert for the weather condition.
Dunlands are cheap and if not there's No Refuge to work.
well, at least that's my thinking of how it should go.

 ;D
My problem would be stuff like sleep caradhras..

Maybe instead of Uruk-hai Marauder, put in Uruk Ravager. He's stronger and not much more expensive.

Gotta remember that Saruman, Rabble-rouser cant play Wizard Storm as it requires an [Isengard] minions exertion, so even with A Fell Voice on the Air, you need some White Hand action out there.

OK, so this version is now:
[32 cards]

4 x Freca
3 x Hill Chief
3 x Saruman, Rabble-rouser
2 x Dunlending Headman
3 x Hillman Rabble
4 x Hides
2 x No Refuge
2 x No Retreat
2 x Constantly Threatening
1 x A Fell Voice on the Air
2 x Wizard Storm
1 x Uruk-hai Marauder
2 x Uruk Trooper
1 x Uruk Ravager

I will try it with a fp meant to run too, in case I see the "pushing" doesn't: a) work (there is no pushing) b) kill companions.
This means I won't probably use Pippin's return to hand ability as much. Only if really needed.
Good thing is, the fp can discard well (gondorian sword) so shadow combos has more probability of working..

frodo reluctant adventurer
the one ring atar
ranger of osgiliath
pippin wearer of black and silver
merry from o'er the brandywine

4 x aragorn wingfoot
4 x shadowplay
2 x pathfinder
2 x escape
3 x hobbit sword
3 x gondorian sword
3 x change of plans
2 x unheeded
1 x birthday present
2 x deft in their movements
2 x hardy garrison

Pathfinder is in there to place site 6 in case I go ahead.
Plus, I want to screw up the fp hand with change of plans, so the fp's doesn't get cards that can help in liberating sites/healing, ... More so, this deck can choke a bit and if I'm running, then minions in shadow player's hand are gonna get shuffled and I will be wrecking that too. Really hope this works  :hey:

if you can go ahead, than you could play isengard storm maybe a shadow phase early? if you double to 5, stop him on 4, go to 6, than play an isengard minion on 5, play wizard storm on your pathfound six, than you just need the dunlanders.
