Title: Allies and Site Control
Post by: CCCORNIV on May 22, 2008, 05:37:36 AM
When the shadow player takes control of an allies' home site is that ally discarded or added to the dead pile?  I didn't think so, but I've come across a couple of people mentioning this in my recent web browsing. I looked in the rulebook, but I couldn't find anything in regards to this.  I may have just answered my own question, but any additional insight is appreciated.  Thanks ~ Chris.

This only occurs if the ally states in his/her game text that they are discarded if their home site is controlled. As a point, Hlafwine is the one I can think of the top of my head. Only in a Tower Block deck could he have his home site controlled, so its a pretty specific mechanic.

All of the villager allies from The Two Towers have the text "Discard _______ if an opponent controls his site." By name, these allies are Hlafwine, Guma, Leod, and Weland. They are all site 4TT, so while there was a chance they could be discarded in the Tower block, even then it was a little unlikely. Probably why Big D dropped the idea after that.

Thanks for the clarification.  My friend Borky and I play everyday on our lunch break and it seems like at times the more we play the more we confuse ourselves.  :)  We are still mainly on the Fellowship and Two Towers blocks, but I've been buying the ROTK and Shadows sets when I can find them at a reasonable price, except Siege Of Gondor boosters, geez!!!  I can't wait to play the King block, the threat system looks to be a killer!!! :hey:

Thanks again for the help. ~ Chris

Oh yeah threats were my favorite addition to game!  If you think finding Siege of Gondor boosters is bad... just stop at the Shadows block and don't even bother looking for Hunters block.    :'(

Yeah, I've seen the prices on those. Did Decipher just not print that many of these sets?

I have stopped at Shadows because I could easily find most booster and starter boxes between $8 - $30, most around the $8-$15 range.  I just can't see paying $150 for one booster box when I just paid about $130 for 3 starter boxes and 8 booster boxes for the Shadow block.

my neither...but I'm a collecter as well, so paying too much for cards is my burden.....

Well if you ever order a case of boosters from the Hunters block and need someone to split the cost with, let me know.  I'll probably go ahead and pick up a couple of the Siege of Gondor booster boxes in the next couple of weeks just so I'll have all the main sets up until The Hunters.  I'll try to bide my time playing the blocks I haven't even played yet (ROTK/Shadows), but at this point it's an addiction so I'm sure I can only resist for so long and my initial resistance was only a four or so.  :D

5-27-08 I just bought a Siege of Gondor booster box for $39.95, but they only had 1 in stock or I would have bought a couple.

I bought it from an E-bay store.  I e-mailed the guy and he said it was the only SoG booster box he had.  He did say he had 9 loose booster packs from SoG though, I'm trying to negotiate for those now.

• As it turned out the guy was able to find an additional 5 SoG booster packs in addition to the 9, but he only charged me $10 for the 14 booster packs.  I wound up getting a total of 50 boosters for $56 including shipping, not too shabby!!!  :D
