I was trying to think up a new Shadow side on SdA one day and a thought hit me: why not build a deck made entirely out of splash minions? This is what I came up with, and so far I think it only has 2 losses (mm beat it that I know of for sure; I think the second time was either Dáin or Kralik). The strategy is very simple: beat the living crap out of their Freeps. Howdah is the only non-minion card, but provides a few extra arrows in a pinch. Nelya lets you get your own sites in the mix, and once you start getting into region 3 Sauron can be quite cheap; I've played him for [8] or so on numerous occasions.

The Freeps side is also pretty simple: shoot 'em up, use Lothlorien Guides and Seclusion to wipe out conditions (which incidentally is another bonus feature of StBOoYV: Namarie is virtually useless). Foe-hammer and Salt of the Shire make corruption a difficult feat to accomplish, and with all of the comps it's hard to swarm (beatdown is the biggest problem).

So here it is... I'm sure the Freeps side could be touched up quite a bit, but the Shadow side is almost perfect IMO. Any thoughts?

All I'd recommend would be a few copies of Orkish Lackey. Definitely a must-have for this kind of deck. You might want to drop some non-essentials such as TotNR or Southron Murderer. Looks like a nice deck, might play against some time, who knows.  ;)

Orkish Lackey doesn't work. There are no [Orc] conditions. It is in no way a must-have. And Southron Murderer is very essential: the purpose of the deck is to wound, and he's an archer. And Nelya is great. He's fierce and lets you switch the sites around, which I said in the original post.

And it's better than nice. It's awesome. Ask anybody who's played it.

I always though the morgul creeper/ambusher/lurker strategy was underused.  especially with there came a cry.
use the one condition to get intiative and your set ;)
but anyway on your deck,  seems like ferny is rather unnecessary, surely there would be something better to add? IDK.    maybe with all your [men] archers some elavated fire?

what deck did i beat you with? was it morcs? or was it besiegers? or was it something else? i love playing my besiegers against you, it might have been that.

anyways, i've played against this deck a bunch, and its strength lies in that there are NO events, NO possessions, No artifacts, and barely any conditions. it derives its power from the fact that virtually the only things hitting the table are big nasty minions. or small nasty minions. either way, its gets ugly Quick.

ferny is killer with alternate ring-bearers. get that bloke through unwounded and you usually have yourself either a couple threats, a couple wounds on the ring-bearer, or a couple burdens. not to mention it helps work the twilight pool.

(mm beat it that I know of for sure; I think the second time was either Dáin or Kralik).

I pretty sure I remember playing this deck with my OP wargs deck. Direct wounding!

Have you read Lurtz? Strength +3 for each exhausted comp and an archer!?

I think the deck is just massive, you can't expect to draw your important cards. I think in most decks you want 32/32 maximum and to do so I reckon you could lose some copies of unique guys, like you don't need 2 Thorongil when you've got Prancing Pony.

ordinarily i would agree with you thran. the smaller, the better. but with this deck, aside from the fact that it has been proven to work, on the fellowship side, practically ALL your freeps cards will hit the table every fellowship phase. combine that with most of your shadow hand being played in the shadow phase. you just have to be a little careful, and make sure you discard when you can in the regroup phase.

that said, i would probably drop one copy of nelya, and maybe a seclusion or pallando to drop  the whole deck down by 2 cards. that would give you 35/35

on the other hand, you could drop the whole entire gandalf package (gandalf, citadel to gate, pallando, foe hammer) that gets rid of 4 cards right there, and you can probably do just fine without it. and on the shadow side, maybe drop 1x nelya 1x ferny, 1x mauhur 1x archer of harad.

that brings you down to 32/32. right where you said it should be. problem is, its hard to slim down the shadow side at all. you really need all those archer of harad, and that extra mauhur comes in handy. not to mention, by cutting the gandalf package, you lose your wound sponge, healer, and touch of burden and condition removal.

all those ideas are possibilities, but if i was going to build this deck the only thing i would probably do is cut a nelya and pallando.

IDK, size is so subjective, once i was urnning a hobbit enduring nazzie corruption deck that was not cycling, I cut 4 cards and have scarce lost a game with it since.

some decks if they are under 76-80 will deck out before 9, others at 68 will clog.
it just depends.  I figure I don't want my decks any bigger than 70 if I can help out.
and of course if your are playing 3 player...

Both sides of the deck need a lot of work, basically agree with what others have said.  I wouldn't use more than 1 of each unique minion except maybe 2 mumak commander.  Morgul Creeper is useless, will never get to spot 3 burdens.  Rapid reload is vital for when they flood the twilight pool. You need Mumak Rider to ditch possessions to help you win more skirmishes.  Need a Lemenya for threats, and I'd recommend enquea and buckland homestead for cond removal, nertea to assign, probably saruman, isengard ruined, and whispers in the dark if you get a better ratio of evil men.

Does anyone actually still play SDA??  I got soooo many decks but noone to play vs.

I would disagree on cutting all the uniques. Gothmog is awesome. I typically pack 2 or 3 in any of my archery decks. 3 free arrows for 6 twilight, and then a 15 beater to boot. If you want.

Can you explain the origin of the name of your deck? Who coined Stomp the Blood Out of Your Veins?

i think AP did. but i'm not sure. i really think that his deck is more of a wound deck. not so much beatdown. but, whatever...

/me shudders

I have certainly never beaten this deck. It has several times made me curl up into the fetal position and weep.
