Title: Ranger Tactics
Post by: Gate Troll on February 18, 2009, 09:17:50 AM
I was fooling around... and came up with this:

[2] Ranger Tactics [Gondor]
Event • Fellowship/Maneuver/Skirmish
To play, spot a ranger.
If you play this event in the Fellowship phase, remove [5].
If you played this event in the Manuever phase, reinforce a token.
If you played this event in the Skirmish phase, make a companion strength +2.

Too good? Not good enough? What do you think?  ;D

I like the idea and the flexibility.  The two things that i see when i look at this card are: first it seems a little on the powerful side and then second is just a taste thing but i might change it to Ranger Tactics since it is an action rather than a character.

Make it (0) as why would I play a card in FP phase to remove [4] that adds [1]

I wanted it to add [3]. So I made it cost [1] to balance it out and made the
first ability add [4] to keep it what I wanted 4 - 1 = 3. Its simple, really.

It is very good (all the abilities are exceptional value for 1 card) and I can see an interesting cycle come out of this idea. In fact, I'd like to see it! :hey:

Should probably exert the ranger, since the flexibility of this card is very impressive.

How about this?  : ;D

[1] Elven Versatility [Elven]
Event • Fellowship/Archery/Skirmish
To play, exert an elf.
If you played this event in the fellowship phase, heal a companion.
If you played this event in the archery phase, wound a minion.
If you played this event in the skirmish phase, make a minion strength -3.

Please add "To play, spot an Elf"

On a reviewing side, I dont know if I'm feeling the healing for an exertion... makes a good splash but I dont tend to splash Elves... maybe remove a threat?

About elven versality

Try something like this:
 [3] Elven Versality  [Elven]
Event • Fellowship or Maneuver or Skirmish
To play, exert an elf.
If you played this event in the fellowship phase, remove a threat.
If you played this event in the maneuver phase, exert a minion.
If you played this event in the skirmish phase, make a minion skirmishing an elf strength -2.

Maybe you should make the rangers Tactics twilight cost [3] too (unity). I am looking forward to seeing further cards...

Keep in mind, that these cards contain three abilities! Each abilitiy is stronger than those of a whole card!
eg: Our time, Nocked, Kindreds estranged, The flame of Anor are much weaker!
I like them really  :uh-huh:,
Just be aware of the power of your cards!
