Title: Sudden Fury (12U132) Token Stacking?
Post by: MuadDib85 on March 11, 2009, 04:26:31 AM
Sudden Fury 12U132

Token Stacking??

Let's say I have 4 sudden fury's in play (are they stacked on top of each other? or next to placed each other?), Frodo, Sam and Pippen each loose a skirmish in a single skirmish phase, is that a total of twelve tokens added?
If it is 12 tokens, in the following fierce round of the same turn, what is the value of each token as a strength pump? One strength or (for having four copies out) Four strength?
Any help would be appreciated.

First you dont stack cards of similar name you just play them somewhere in your support area.

The main answer is best described by saying look at each card seperately. If a hobbit loses a skirmish look at Sudden Fury 1. It says place a token here. So you do. Then you look at the Sudden Fury 2. It says place a token here so you do. Repeat 4 times.

So yes 3 hobbits lose and you get 12 tokens.

When you remove a token you get 1 strength from each token. This is because you cannot combine actions that start a bolded phase word like Skirmish: or Response:. Using a line of text like this is unique to that one action. You remove 1 token from Sudden Fury 3 and thats just relevant to the gametext of that sudden fury. You have not removed a token using the gametext of Sudden Fury 1 so it does not count.

So those 12 tokens are wroth 12 strength in summary :D

Cheers

Thanks Lem0nhead,
I thought maybe because they were all "the same card" you could get 4 strength out of 1 token, oh well won't bother making that deck anymore :)
That would have been nice support for a fighting Sam GEW

Its still a very nice card for a hobbit deck and worth playing.

yeah, if you try a sudden fury/shadowplay/unheeded and maybe drop in a gandalf or aragorn splash, you could have a sturdy deck right there

Ok, I know I'm coming off a little *hole-ish here and for what I said in the Holiday Gandalf thread, but seriously? You won't play a card because it's not utterly broken?

Sudden Fury is one of the cornerstones of the fighting hobbit deck. Not the No Visitors deck, the one where the hobbits actually fight their own skirmishes to the bitter end - and quite often win at that.

I think it's time to bring back an old Bib standby - all cards do what they say.

My hobbit fighting deck doesn't have this card and it does alright.
I am sure that if used properly it is a great card, I probably shouldn't have said that I 'won't bother with it'.
I just wasn't sure how it worked, that's all.
In regards to "won't play a card because it's not utterly broken", you're right that does sound a little *hole-ish.

I like Hobbit Stealth more than No Visitors

but hobbit stealth is:
only available on FotR block sites
only till site 5 able to cancel

No Visitors is available every site due to the event grabbing follower. So No Visitors is way, way better, trust me.

OK....I don't have much play experience with the Hunters Block, I do have SDA though if anyone ever wants a game...

I have used Pippin ITBOH and Merry ITBOH with all their nifty pieweed.: 'let's cancel all the skirmishes and start with 6 companions' deck, that is fun too. :)

Fun is in the eye of the beholder...hahaha, there are people, believe it or not, that really hate a pipeweed deck....to play against. I made a deck, somewhere here in the forums, with the Pippin from Age's End. I had ent draught, everyone knows, little golden flower, for a 22-24 strength Pippin....mhuhahaha. How much fun is that!

Try Bilbo, BotB with Consorting with Wizards and 4x Sudden fury. :)

That looks good, Consorting With Wizards is one of my favourite cards. :)

..uhm, not totally true Gil! You might not be able to cancel the skirmish, but the hobbit stealth from:
fotr: still give you a +2 or +3 bonus
TT: Not overwhelmed unless trippled or not more then 1 wound
