Title: 3 Ways to beat Fiend
Post by: GarrisonofGondor on March 11, 2009, 10:05:33 AM
Yeah you read right, here are ways to beat the amazing deck called Fiend.

 Way 1: Infinite Erland

If you have it setup you make all minions strength 0.

What you need: Erland, Dale Counselor + Servant of the Secret Fire + A Light in His Mind + The Shire Countryside

 Way 2: 9 Rangers

Play Curse Them and then the fierce troll's can go on the prowlers. IB can discard som minions and Mablung, Soldier of Gondor + Ranger's Bow

 What you need:

Boromir, Bearer of Council w/ The One Ring, The Ring of Rings
 Faramir, Captain of Gondor
 Aragorn, Strider
 Madril, Defender of Osgiliath
 Mablung, Soldier of Gondor
 4x Gondorian Prowler

 Fellowship:
 2x Gondorian Blade
 4x Ithilien Blade
 Aragorn's Bow, Ranger's Longbow
 2x Rangers Bow
 4x Bow of Minas Tirith
 4x Ranger's Cloak
 4x What Are They
 4x War and Valor
 4x Curse Them
 2x Houses of Healing
 2x Invigorated

 Way 3: Traveled Leader

 Basically you survive untill regroup.

What you need: Gandalf + Traveled Leader + Caras Galadhon

I also have to others ways to beat it but GoG must have secrets :ninja:

yep....saved from the fire, it is not too difficult. Try 4 scouring of the shire, 4 shadowplay, 4 unheeded and 4 saved from the fire. You must hit something in the first hand, oh and since you need gandalf, you can add 4 travelled leader.
How many ways do you need to get around Mordor Fiend? haha

Me too, allthough it is fun to have an open deck lying around. Make sure it is deadly enough though. But than you have to wonder what you're going to do. Can you make a competitive open deck when you design your deck in a way just to beat a possible deck. Hmmm...

Curse Them doesn't work, can't cancel RB's skirmish.

And...this is why I now pack Great Peril of Fire in my Fiend decks.

For way 2, why don't you just have 8 in your Starting Fellowship and pull Aragorn, heir to Elendil with The Prancing Pony?

That's sad.  You think people would branch out and test new ideas... but I guess that is what the casual format is for

Everyone plays to win, I mean, even when it is not the top priority, no-one likes to loose constantly. So if you have a format where you can use everything, you use something that has proved to be nasty..Mordor Fiend has.

I guess that's why I lose so often
