Okay, so the point of this thread is to kind of get an idea of everyone's musical tastes. And instead of the typical boring "I like this and this and this," we're going to make it into a game. (Okay, so I stole the game from another forum, big deal).
But the point is this. I'll post a song, with a link to where you can listen to that song, and then the next person listens to that song and rates it on a scale of 1 to 10.
For example...
The Chicken Dance- Unknown (http://www.imeem.com/people/V8SRbG/music/ttlkuc4k/dance_party_favorites_the_chicken_dance/)
Uh...10/10.
We Will Rock You- Queen (http://www.imeem.com/people/Bvo8FW/music/y4aKwsAz/queen_we_will_rock_you_queen_we_will_rock_you/)
Something like that.
Please do not rate the song unless you've listened to it.
So, I'll start it off.
Red- Breathe Into Me (http://www.imeem.com/aldoran/music/hriHw8V6/red_breathe_into_me/)
(Big symphonic rock fan).
-
never heard of it
pirates who don't do anything, relient K
-
Smooth Criminal - wacko jacko
-
Race for The Prize - The Flaming Lips
-
Whoa. Wait. Let's start over.
I post a link. You LISTEN to the song, and then you RATE the song. Only then may you post a new song...WITH A LINK.
Red- Breathe Into Me (http://www.imeem.com/aldoran/music/hriHw8V6/red_breathe_into_me/)
Got it? Ready...set...GO!

Red- Breathe Into Me (http://www.imeem.com/aldoran/music/hriHw8V6/red_breathe_into_me/)
Got it? Ready...set...GO!
7/10 music was good, singer was not.
-
And....another song?
We'll figure this out, I'm sure of it!
-
How about Breaking Benjamin- Blow me away ;D (http://www.imeem.com/tunkson/music/vr-880xk/breaking_benjamin_blow_me_away/)
-
8/10. Woulda been better without the screaming part. Cool stuff. I usually don't like Breaking Benjamin, they can be kinda depressing, but this song wasn't that bad.
Rawkfist- Thousand Foot Krutch (http://www.imeem.com/basketballworld/music/I2dt8yGr/thousand_foot_krutch_rawkfist/)
-
6/10 Not Bad, I could listen to it but I wouldn't buy the cd.
KoRn - Kiss (http://www.imeem.com/andy777/music/2Wy4O97z/korn_korn_kiss/)
-
Ugh. Korn trying to sound emo, seemingly, and coming off sounding like a group of panzies. Not my cup of tea. 5/10.
Epiphany, by Bad Religion. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=up6HLfj8l8k)
-
6/10 Not Bad, but I haven't been into most mainstream rock since 2000. ;)
This may be wierd for you guys, but oh well. 8-)
Starsign by Apoptygma Berzerk. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8tF-rZkkmY)
-
Not bad I give it a 7/10.
Chevelle - The Red (http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQuLMRP5qwU")
-
Eh...I have to give it a mediocre 5/10. Nothing real special about it, IMO.
P.O.D. - Youth of the Nation (http://www.imeem.com/casey7172/music/zfPoPzss/pod_youth_of_the_nation/)
-
Hmmm... I've heard it before but the lyrics are more meaningful than I had known. I'd say 7/10 -- would be higher if the "we are we are" part was not as long/repetitive. But that's just me. ;)
And now for something completely different...
Yes - Leave It (http://www.imeem.com/reisende/music/XJwWEQfK/yes_leave_it/)
-
:o And this guy is running the forums? 3/10
Hurry quick! Give him a good dose of this!
P.O.D. Set It Off (http://www.imeem.com/soto39/music/f2tRNRxr/pod_set_it_off/)
-
Terrible, 4/10
This one (http://www.imeem.com/solostar05/music/70AX4ExN/barney_barney_theme_song/)
-
:o And this guy is running the forums? 3/10
If you don't like Yes then you're no... errr... umm... *sulks away*
(Two P.O.D. songs in a row? I'll leave it to someone else)
-
@ Lurtzy-
-50/1 THAT was terrible (SPOILER: Barney Theme Song...).
I will now repost my song to get a decent review.
P.O.D.- Set It Off (http://www.imeem.com/soto39/music/f2tRNRxr/pod_set_it_off/)
-
Dude, you have no clue what you're talking about. That song is awesome.
I know, it's hard to understand that not everybody likes your music.

Exactly! Wait...
-
P.O.D.- Set It Off (http://www.imeem.com/soto39/music/f2tRNRxr/pod_set_it_off/)
OK, I gave in and listened. 6/10.
Tom Lehrer - Poisoning Pigeons in the Park (http://www.imeem.com/raynamaiti/music/GxOrRFwB/tom_lehrer_tom_lehrer_poisoning_pigeons_in_the_park/). Classic.
-
You owe me a new keyboard, Kralik. 8/10.
"Still Alive" - Portal (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/132029.html)
-
Note to self: Never click on another link by Kralik.
Um...same with ES. J/K that one actually wasn't THAT bad, 5/10.
You guys need to learn how to headbang.
Frontline- Pillar (http://www.imeem.com/odin607/music/KJmu_ZpI/pillar_frontline/)
-
Did I kill the thread by posting the most awesome song of all time? :P
-
9/10 I actually liked it.
Something different for you guys. :hey: (http://www.imeem.com/people/ax89DXd/video/jdu4ygy1/ost_music_video/)
-
!WTH?
Um...typical mediocre 5/10.
Do you just roam around looking for stuff that is atypical or completely whacked?
Anyways...
Jars of Clay- Faith Like a Child (http://www.imeem.com/lalakisaduyan/music/dNwtbYy9/jars_of_clay_faith_like_a_child/)
-
7/10
No, I'm picking different songs so we can have at least some variety.
clicky (http://www.imeem.com/groups/s6u_RE7d/music/oHy5iRGQ/jazz_for_a_tropical_vacation_2_cds_batuque/)
-
Like the Barney theme song?
Audio doesn't work here, so I can't click...
-
Jazz isn't generally my style, but it sounds good as far as it goes. 8/10.
This song gives me shivers when played well. (http://www.imeem.com/people/GYtKs2r/music/k9ZNAvKs/sergei_rachmaninoff_prelude_in_csharp_minor/) Even if you're not generally into the style, make sure you at least listen past 1:40 (though aren't the rules that you listen to the whole? :))
-
Outstanding! Really 10/10 Rachmaninoff was one of the best. The Rach concerto #3 is still considered one of the hardest piano pieces to play. You almost need 6 fingers.
Lets see who has the patience to listen to one of my fave's... over 9:00 ;D
Tool - Laturalus (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTvwcLylZzs)
If you're really interested you should search for: "laturalus, fibonacci." To see how they worked that mathmatical sequence into parts of the song.
-
Pretty nice. I definitely have patience for long songs. And it had some cool guitar in there. 8/10 (This almost tempts me to link 2112...now that's a long song)
Let's try this one...(it has a PG cuss word in the very beginning, as a heads-up)
Delirium Trigger--Coheed and Cambria (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S18nnIw_h-8)
-
Long songs? It's not long unless it's over 15 minutes... and I have at least a dozen favorites among those. I'll have to look up that song, CG... Rush, no?
Not to hijack the thread too much, but has anyone ever heard of Alice's Restaurant?
-
Yep, Rush. A full 20 minutes and 37 seconds. Anyhow...back on track...Delirium Trigger. ;)
-
no link?
-
For Delirium Trigger? It's my post above.
-
Surprised they don't list Nirvana as an influence...sounds a lot like Nirvana to me...
Eh. Not a big fan of the vocalist, but the music is decent.
6/10.
Alternative is better done completely crazy. Like, COMPLETELY crazy. Here.
Switchfoot- Oh! Gravity! (http://www.imeem.com/people/WDUVh_3/music/xkaYV6cB/oh_gravity_oh_gravity_switchfoot/)
(MVid) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xf1OSxWGZI0)
There. You wanted weird, Lurtzy.
-
Two in one!
2112 was a very interesting experience, CG. I think I'd have to listen to it again and read the lyrics to fully appreciate it. I may have to check out Rush in general.
Oh! Gravity by Switchfoot -- maybe 7ish out of 10. Even if it's "COMPLETELY crazy," it seems like most recent Switchfoot stuff sounds the same. Didn't get to see the MVid 'cause YouTube is blocked at work.
I just have to post this one to see if anyone has the patience:
Alice's Restaurant (http://www.imeem.com/runikus/music/5OV7aEka/arlo_guthrie_alices_restaurant/) by Arlo Guthrie (Lyrics) (http://www.arlo.net/resources/lyrics/alices.shtml)
My first introduction to this song was during my senior trip in high school. One of the chaperons did the whole thing from memory -- pretty amazing! (Warning: contains a word that rhymes with 'maggot', not offensive in context IMO)
-
(On Coheed...a lot of people mention that about Claudio. It's an acquired taste, I think. They're not really Alternative, either. It's a blend of progressive and true emo, with awesome guitar. I wouldn't term "Oh!Gravity." to be "completely crazy", either. Although it is a good song)
Haha...I'm listening to Alice's Restaurant, and yeah...I'm definitely enjoying it. Reminds me of "Albuquerque" by Wierd Al. I'll give it 9/10. ;D That's an awesomely impressive story, btw.
NB's video reminded me of one of the most unique videos around, and the song is good too...
Awakening--Switchfoot (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHTU2i8RhH8)
-
ARGH! Video is horrible! Cardboard cutouts? Geez! I'll watch it anyways, cuz I haven't seen it for a while, but yeah...
Love the song, though. 10/10
Let's shake it up some...
John Reuben- Nuisance (http://www.imeem.com/pillowz/music/ofrKAKqd/john_reuben_nuisance/)
-
Ah, Nuisance. I remember that one. Short, fun, not bad. 8/10
Here's, hahaha...a rather unique version of a popular power metal song...if you know the original, you'll probably really enjoy this...
Nintendo version of "Through the Fire and Flames" (as made famous by Dragonforce...) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcrqBkRfjVU)
-
7/10, it was kinda boring.
A song I despise. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7g6LenMQ5E)
