yo fellas! i'd like to talk with the football "nerds" of this forums about special football players.
talk about your opinion concerning the the world's best, most interesting and unique players
round 1: f. ribéry
let me give you a statement: i think that ribéry is one of the three best football players in the world. (together with messi + X)
what's your opinion?
thank's for your support,
K89
-
Hmmm i disagree sorry king.
1. Messi
2. Ronaldo
3. Kaka
Ronaldo would be a tie for first if he dived less and wasnt a prima donna.
Dont get me wrong Ribery is very good at what he does but he doesnt have the entire package. There are very few players left in the world that can take players on like messi and to a slightly lesser extent ronaldo/kaka. They drift past defenders like they dont exist. Then they also have a great package of skills, and can round it off with either a pin point pass/cross or a blinding goal. Also ronaldo can header like a beast and they all have blistering pace.
Ribery has some of these but not combined in the same way as those 3 geniuses.
Maybe he is in the top 10 but i feel even Gerrard is better. You wont find a better passer of the ball on the face of the earth (as much as it pains me to talk the #$&*@! scouser up!).
-
thanks for your statement lemonhead. any other suggestions? (sounds like if some one had opened his self in the sitting round of a psycho doctor :D)
what i like so much on ribery is his attitude towards football. t think it's because the accident he had when he was only 2 years old. he appreciates his live and enjoy's it!
his skills: he's fast as #$&*@!: even the defence of barca was to slow for him. almost 3 player attacked him. but what should he do if there was no one to pass?!
also he has fantastic dribbling skills: deadly combined with his speed.
and last but not least he gots a very good kicking technique.
the main proble i see is that bayern munic has too less good players to support ribery's skills, sadly...
-
I do not know what all like about Ribery. He plays OK, he is good, but he is not the Kaka-like one.
My three are:
1. Fernando Torres
2. Ronaldinho
3. Paul Scholes
yeah King, you seem to love the Klinsi fellas. it is just, they play too strict and with too less variants in defense. There is no passion, I think. I like the Hoffenheimer, they played soo great last month, although they have no stars an were on top all the time. That's what you miss in this team. real passion
-
2. Ronaldo
just hope you mean the slim one, eh? ;)
and besides, I think ribery is not the most ...hmm how can I say....let's say, he wouldn't get a model job, I think.....
-
Ronaldinho? C'mon...he has lost thouch with football a long time ago. It is difficult to state what a good player is. An outstanding player, I mean to call one the best, is a player who can make a difference singlehandedly. Christiano Ronaldo is great, without a doubt, but at the Portuguese squad he seems a little bit disabled. It just doesn't work.
Same with Ronaldinho. Back when he played at Barça he really started to light up when Edgar Davids was in his back. That way he was able to play freely, not concerned whether he had to defend.
Messi is briliant. His dribblingskills are unique. The ball seems to be attached to his foot. And the best thing is that he hardly looses speed. Unique player!
Gerrard is up in my book also. He reads the game like no-one, eventhough yesterday wasn't his finest moment. His passing is very, very good. He is a real architect.
Fabregas is also very good at that possition, especially when you take his age in consideration.
I myself enjoy the Dutch players. With Robben, Sneijder, Van der Vaart, Huntelaar, Van Persie we have so much creativity. They are all worldclass players, and I don't care to be called a patriot, cause I know I'm right ;D
-
I like Kaká better than Ronaldinho. Kaká is SMART, which is a HUGE upside to football players. He's also REALLY fast and focused, he does the best he can to get to the goal, instead of showing off. I mean, they showed some numbers, the man stays with the ball an average of LESS THAN 20 SECONDS whenever he gets passed to. And does that much damage, He's just brilliant.
-
football players? two words: Payton Manning.
*ducks cabbage*
-
I think we are talking about real football with tactics and other stuff
-
Ignore him! Ignore him...before we know it this beautiful thread becomes nothing more than a stupid debate about two different games.
I forgot to mention Kaka indeed. He is a very, very good player as well. But again, there are so many good players.
-

So Many creativity and still it's difficult to create Goalopportunities..... :( We even weren't able to win from Russia During the EC. By the way I can't believe my eyes that you mentioned the man of glass... he doesn't even walk normal??? And you forget to mention Bouhla, De Jong, Marcellis, van der Wiel and Kluivert (who is still the best center for the Dutch team). Besides that I don't understand Belgium. They have great players as well: Dembele, Martens, Vertonghen, Vermaelen... but somehow it doesn't work....
-
Seeing as we are basing this on nationality we have Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard, John Terry and Rio Ferdinand. I could just list the England team, but I think we have some great players IN England. Ryan Giggs, Frank Lampard, Michael Essien, Robin Van Persie, Emmanuel Eboue, Cristiano Ronaldo, Robinho (JUST KIDDING!)...
Simply put I think the Premier League is the best league in the world... thats fighting talk!
-
Kluivert...ah...sigh. And you call Robben the man of glass? It is such a shame Kluivert somehow never continued. Back in the days -2000- he was one of the best strikers in the world. He was/is so gifted! Incredible.
But Robben is potentially one of the best players around. He is, somewhat like Messi, able to annoy an entire defense. Very threatening. Others you mention, Bouhla -not the first choice at his team- not worldclass, De Jong, at his possition one of the better players I agree with you. Marcellis and Van der Wiel are still very young and have a lot to prove. Nonetheless they are promissing!
-
agreed on that. Premiere League is very strong. Budgets are higher than anywhere in the world. I think that Ajax for example with I guess a budget of 60-70 million euro's each season, would be only moderate in England

no offence to you, but that's not suprising for me at all, cause there are Man City and Chelsea...
ofcourse Liverpool, Arsenal and ManU have very great and unique players too, but it's easy to take "some" money and buy the best players in the world, how boring...
-
Come on, Rooney, Ferdinand, Giggs, Terry, Lampard, Gerrard are all homegrown, not expensive imports.
-
no but due to the possibility to pay them high wages, they are staying. I guess Terry makes almost 200.000 euro's each week....there are players in the Netherlands that make that kind of money in a year.

what you think where ribery and toni came from, eh?

But Robben comeon... He's no way near Messi.. he'sn't even near Sneijder, van Persie or vd Vaart. He's lacking something important: It's a teamsport. Even in Spain they know that;) Besides that: http://www.voetbalzone.nl/doc.asp?uid=76723
I think Babel is a better player then Robben.
And Bouhla not worldclass... well can remember him playing some worldclass players.. they had no chance.
Absolute top = Kaka, Messi, Ronaldo, v. Persie (please note that I'm an ajaxfan and he comes from the city of cockroaches), Chivu, Fabregas, Giggs and Torres
-
Gotta agree on Messi, he is the best in the world right now, form, the team around him, they look the best!
-
somewhat like Messi.......sure he is injured a lot, sure he is forgetting his teammates now and then, but other than that, he is ace. Babel is good, but not too good. Last week he was showing it. But than again, he is not a winger, he is, I think a striker.

No, he's no center. Babel needs space... and he's younger, smarter... But offtopic, Heye, did you read my pm?

another question: who is currently the best goal keeper in the world? and why? *
let's see what you guess!

Entirely honest? Julio César. Brought up by my beloved team, and the man is amazing, the saves he makes! There are a LOT of great goalkeepers nowadays, and Brazil has a fair amount of them (which is weird, it's always been a weakness of your squad), as does Spain, but no one is like Julio. The guy is a cat, 'nough said.
-
Van der Sar....haha. Well, maybe not the best, but certainly one of the best. Ok, in his age category (35+) he is most definately the best. Other than that he is in my top3
-
Is everybody ready for tonight's cl?
-
Petr Cech has to be the best keeper in the world, im sure of it. Dont rate buffon anymore.
Yeah im ready to see chelsea knock liverpool out!

haha, if we would have had a kind of "bet and win" i would have won, cause i know that you are a great fan of van der sar. :D
but you're right, that he's very very good at his age of... i guess ... 39, right?!
to my mind top 5.
-
To my mind top 1
-
he has got a lot of experience, but his reflexes aren't that perfect and fast anymore like those from e.g. giggi buffon. and this isn't subjectively anyway. ;)
-
He won Man U the Champions League last year with his reflexes....:)
-
GE, i didn't say that he is a slow old dog, rather that he defently isn't the number one in the world right now. ;)
take e.g. Oliver Kahn: in his last season 2007/2008 (in the german "Bundesliga) he only got 21 balls in his goal in 34 matches... at the age of 39 (--> edited).
do you know what i mean?
-
he won a lot of prizes.. didn't he?
But just wait for Kenneth Vermeer or Aria van der Bunt (oh no.. he's a formal waterpologoalie and was called best waterpologoalie of the world in the nineties :D )
Or you've to wait For Romero (Argentine) and Gomes From Brasil is also a nice keeper.
Who's Buffon?
-
...
Who's Buffon?
world's best on the goal line. but i reconized the fact that the dutches dislike buffon. :hey:
-
I absolutely don't dislike Buffon, I think he's great. Fact is though that he was chosen first keeper in Italy at the moment that vdSar was the keeper that had the least goals against. Well, anyway, I'm a great vdSar fan, that's for sure.....
-

Which Dutches or do you mean the Dutch
..Well just let me tell something.. You remember who won CL 1995. Who was in goal... Right E. van der Sar. 1993 uefacup idem. But comming back on cl1995.. AC MILAN was the top those days... You know what we sang back then? Milan, Milan, Who the F... is Milan?
So who´s Buffon?
-
Anyway.. didn´t we had 2 nice days of CL?
-
how often did v.d. sar get an award for "world's / europeans goal keeper of the year"? :P

Getting this title is more about politics... And he should have get it twice and will get it this year!
By the way.. I think he will win cl again!
