So let's have a help thread! The best way to learn how to use GCCG is have someone show you, but what if no one is online? Post your questions here and we (myself and other players) will do our best to help you out. :)
A couple notes to new users:
1) GCCG does not open straight to a card table. The black screen and the tables represent the lobby. To start playing a game (either with someone else or by yourself), you have to load a deck and sit at a table.
2) If you have decks with another program, they can be opened in GCCG. Most people find a supplemental deck-building program easier than GCCG's deck building. You can use Apprentice, SdA, Lackey, or (my favorite) Zorbec's.
As time goes on, I'll probably turn the top post of this thread into a tutorial/FAQ.
So fire away! ;D
-
Many thanks Kralik! I will state my comments soon.
-
so, I installed GCCG, set my username... and then? ...five tables, $$$, etc.
I just want to play a nice game with other nice guys... Do I have also to install some other files of gccg? I started "Lotr_fullscreen"; is that right?
Pleas help ???
-
You're fine as long as you ran "Install LotR.bat" and "Install LotR cards.bat" :)
Now the best thing to do is see if there are other people on besides yourself who could help a bit. Do you have decks from SdA you could use? If so, copy these into the GCCG\decks\lotr folder on your computer.
Edit: If there's a good time for you, PM me and I could probably be there. :)
-
Thanks to Kralik and Malachi... I guess now I got it!
so, I think I will be around there time by time... :)

another question...
How can I improve the resolution of gccg? I use full screen mode... but is there a chance to get a higher resolution? (1920 x 1200) ?
By the way, what is the most used online play program? where are the most players around?
-
what's up fellas?!
i can tell you what's up:
yesterday i played my very first GCCG game with my insane friend Olorin :P
it's absoluty wonderful although i'm a bloody noob until now. the only thing that is distracting is that you have to rely on your opponent 100%, because there are many ways for cheating and abusing the "freedom" of the game. example: i can take a any card in hand with The Prancing Pony, equal it's a ranger or not.
but ofcourse very well done. - if i have any questions, i'll post them here.

:suspect: Am I insane? I didn't know this... :ninja: but probably my decks are :hey:

The standard procedure when taking cards from your draw deck is to either set them on the table (simply click on them) or set them aside and reveal to your opponent BEFORE putting to hand. It's like in real life: you have to show it to them. If you have any questions on how to play certain cards, most of the logistics have already been figured out.

You can play at any resolution, but the table will always be the same size (relatively) so that all players see the same thing. If your resolution is higher, it just means the cards will be bigger. The default is 1024x768. I play on 840x600 since I have a small screen (Eee PC), so the cards I see are smaller. Do you want to know how to set the screen size?

Yes please :-)

Hello ;D
I can not download the gccg core file from here: http://gccg.sourceforge.net/modules/gccg-core-0.9.3.tgz
My computer says, the download can not be added. What shall I do?

any idea on how to improve the resolution?
Sorry, I kind of forgot about this one. :-S
It's a little tricky, but not too bad. From the GCCG faq (http://gccg.sourceforge.net/faq.php):
Edit the file LotR.bat with Notepad or a similar editor. On the last line, after %CLIENT% insert the following text (example):
--geometry 800x600
To get a 800x600 screen, for example. Substitute whatever numbers you want for 840 (width) and 600 (height). IMO it looks best at a ratio of 7 to 5, but you'll want to experiment perhaps to see what gives you the most proportional cards.

Could you possibly make gccg detect when people have an illegal number of sites in there deck?
I mean like if I was playing standard format and put four (0) costing sites in my deck, and do a legality check for standard, gccg thinks it is legal, when you can ofcourse only have three (0) costing sites in your adventure deck.
Every now and then there would be an occasional honest mistake made, fixing this might help stop the playing of 'illegal games'. ;D :cop:
-
Can we have another 2-player table (or maybe even two)? There are lots of new players around and sometimes all three 2-player tables can be reserved.
-

I may be able to look into this one.

Yes, we're getting busy! PM or email wlk. ;)
-
Okay, I asked wlk and he switched 4-player table back to the 2-player one. He said he can't add 6th table now, since the server spends too much resources running other gccg's.
-
other gccg's.
OTHER ccg's? Pfffft.
-
It's 16:15 New York time and GCCG hasn't been working for 2 hours...
It says 'Connection failed. Working offline.'
-
/me cues the ominous music.
Hmm... someone find wlk, stat!
-
now, where are the commands, are they just in the doc. file or are they actually on the program somewhere?
-
What commands are you looking for? Most everything can be done by right-clicking in the interface (right-click on table, right click in lobby area); there are also some keyboard shortcuts.
-
The keyboard shortcuts. I know the Ctrl + x(where x represents a number 1-7) for the different phases. (Fellowship, Shadows...)
-
The keyboard shortcuts. I know the Ctrl + x(where x represents a number 1-7) for the different phases. (Fellowship, Shadows...)
You'll see the keyboard shortcut in the right-click menus. For example, right-clicking on a character will show Wound (CTRL-A) and Heal (CTRL-D). Either use the menus or the shortcuts (which are handy). That covers most of them. There are some "undocumented" shortcuts such as middle-clicking on a card discards it.

Hey, c10ckw0rk! That is what mine says everytime I don't have this internet connector plugged in.
-
In the next update, check Last Throw... I have to add it manually after importing my SdA deck because it's not detecting it.
-
In the next update, check Last Throw... I have to add it manually after importing my SdA deck because it's not detecting it.
It's a bug in the SdA database. When I worked with it a while back there are many cards there that are misnumbered. In this case (just looked it up) it looks like it's labeled as 10c34 instead of 10C34 (the lower case 'c' is throwing things off).
EDIT: If you find and correct the 10c34 --> 10C34 in your SdA.xml file, then resave your deck, it should fix things.

What I want to know is, what is the "etiquette" involved... I just watched a game, and what I learned is that I'm an absolute larva when it comes to playing this game-not just the online stuff, the game itself. They had Galadriel and Faramir as the ring-bearers. I've never, ever had any other ring-bearer than Frodo. In fact, I've never gotten to a point in the game where Sam had to take the ring! And there were red markers on the dead pile - I've never done this! Is it to keep count of how many you have in your dead pile so you don't go above nine total fellowship? And they were playing so fast, like they actually KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING. I felt like such an amateur watching these guys play. With this in mind, I know that nobody (sane) would want to play a game with me. (sorry for putting you through that, Kralik) But watching them play was, like, the most exciting thing that's happened to me in the last month (stop snickering), and I want to go back... but, is it RUDE to watch other people play? I asked permission, of course, but people are nice and aren't going to say, "NO!! You can't watch us!!", even if that's what they are thinking. Is there some kind of etiquette listing posted somewhere? Are people insulted when someone they don't know sits at their table? Seems kind of rude... let me know, please! I want to learn!! (If that's possible, at my age)...
-
Goldberry,
I don't think anybody minds when people watch their games. thats part of the fun, it builds a gaming community. and there are plenty of people who will sit down and play with you even if you don't have a clue what you are doing. (and at least you have a desire to play, which is the most important) so don't be shy to watch the games that are being played, and play with people who will teach you whenever you can.
cheers!
-mm
-
Goldberry: People watch each others' games all of the time. I don't know anyone who objects to being watched, though I suppose if someone did they might tell you? Back when we were running a tournament there were some rules about spying on others deck, but those were clear-cut and it was a special situation. I wouldn't worry about it at all.
As far as etiquette goes, if you want to chat or kibitz with another watcher, you can do it by putting the mouse in the lower-right chat box so you don't disturb the game. Also, it's good to know that you can rearrange the cards on the table as you see fit, move them around to get a better look... and it doesn't affect the players' game! Only your screen.
As for learning the game, I'd suggest starting with FotR block and letting your opponent know that you are new(ish). Hang out with us on TLHH and work your way up the ranks, and soon you'll be a LotR junkie like the rest of us. :P
EDIT: Alternate Ringbearers were introduced in set nine, and the red tokens on each player's dead pile are called "threats" -- a concept that started in King Block (set seven).

Thanks!!

one question. how can I buy starters/boosters in the GCCG application? Can`t find that option :(

From the lobby: Right-click and Show/Hide Products.

Actually, I wasn't aware of that rule, I can make the changes.
Please can you point me on some official ruling about this ?
Also is it only for standard format or every format using the post-shadow sites ?
-
Found it in the Hunters starter:
You bring a set of nine sites in your adventure deck. Each
site must be different. Your adventure deck may include
no more than three sites that have the same given Shadow
number.
AFAIK this is the ruling for all post-Shadows sites.
-
Oh, the "same given shadow number", not only the 0 ones.
Ok, need to check this, thanks.

So I got Gccg working last night and played a few games and now I try going to it again and it says "Server Closed Connection, Abnormal Exit"... what does that mean!?

Are you trying on a different computer? Under a different Windows user?

It sets one automatically and it is saved (or should be saved) in the folder C:\.gccg. If this folder got deleted somehow, you lost your password information. Your best bet would be:
1) Delete C:\.gccg if it exists.
2) Run GCCG and select a different username.
Alternatively, you could PM wlk and see if he could do a password reset.

Hello there!
I heard that if we play a GCCG LOTRO: TCG game with only the cards that we have bought, and no proxies, we would get a random promotional card.
I won a game with my TTT Aragorn Starter. However, I didn't get the promo. Anyone could clarify this for me? Thanks! :D
Cheers,
Kenddrick
-
Did you buy the starter or just picked an imported deck... and did you check ALL promo pages?
-
Yes I bought the starter. And I've played a couple of games since then, so I should have had some promos thus I can't tell. But can someone check the logs to see if I received my Promo? :)
-
So far, you played with proxies.
Make sure you own the cards you use in your deck if you want to be rewarded by a free Promo.
-
Wlk,
How do I remove my Promo cards for sale? Right now, as a safe guard, I put a price of 10,000 on them.
Thanks,
Kenddrick
-
Add 1 "want", it will decrease the sell count.
-
Hi wlk! :)
I tried connecting when I was in school, and I got this
"Connecting to gccg.servebeer.com port 29120
Connection failed
Working offline"
I was wondering how I could connect via my school's network.
Cheers,
Kenddrick :D
-
I have no idea, ask your school network admins, they're the only one to blame here.
Likely you are not allowed to connect to that port/IP/service.
Aren't you supposed to attend a course rather than playing cards online ? ;)
-
Hehe. Wlk, how do we change the prices of cards we have for sale? Currently my cards are going for 10,000. I need to change that. :D
-
Just put the mouse over the card, type the new price, then press Enter.

I'm helping my friend get GCCG set up for his Mac running OS X, and he's trying to install all the libraries needed for GCCG, but one of them (sdl-net) isn't showing up in the Fink Commander GUI list. All the others were there, but not that one. Are we looking for the wrong thing, or has it been renamed, or do we need to do something else? Thanks in advance for any help, we're really looking forward to playing some LOTR online!
-
OK, we got the sdl-net thing figured out (we had to configure Fink to use the unstable branch, and then it showed the sdl-net library), but now we're having some trouble getting GCCG installed and launching the LOTR module.
We were able to get all the libraries set up, and get GCCG compiled and installed (the binary version). We then installed the lotr module with no error messages, but when we tried to launch the Lotr module using the ./Lotr command, we got an error message:
Nubility:~/gccg test$ ./Lotr
./Lotr: line 31: ./ccg_client: cannot execute binary file
Nubility:~/gccg test$
We tried re-installing GCCG, but got the same problem. We then tried using the alternative method to compile GCCG ("./gccg_package install client fonts source", then "make all"), and got error messages (I have the terminal script, but it's pretty long, so I'm not attaching it here -- I can provide it if necessary, though).
Any ideas on how we can get the program working? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

I got a new hard drive, but was stupid and forgot to copy my old gccg files over to the new one. Then the hard drive was wiped through a re-format. I'm assuming there isn't a way to log onto my old account, and I'll have to create a new one? Username was "fuzzle".
-
I assume so, unless you have set a password.

I have distract the GCCG-core-0.9.3.tgz file. What shall I do now? I can't find any application, and no one plays SDA. :'(

You extracted the file? Here's the general procedure:
Run:
1) Install LOTR.bat (DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP! Many do...)
2) Install LOTR Cards.bat
If you have SdA decks you want to use, copy them to decks\Lotr
Now run Lotr.bat and find someone to teach you the interface! :)

If they are smart, they probably block random ports other than HTTP, etc. Keeps everything more secure and helps stop torrents. Good for them! ;)

Did you ever manage to get this working? I know that GCCG has worked on Mac in the past... It would be great to get some binaries up somewhere to avoid all of the hassle. If only I had a Mac to look at (I used to have one)... perhaps you could PM me the errors.
There's always Lackey too if you want to play on a Mac. It's not as good as GCCG, and the LotR plugin is a bit dated, but it works...
-
Where do I get Lotr.bat from?
It should be in the same directory with Install LOTR, Install LOTR Cards, etc. The GCCG directory -- after you've extracted the file. But wait - you're running Windows, right? You probably downloaded the wrong file. It should end in ZIP. Go to the main site (http://gccg.sf.net) and click on WINDOWS in the left column. The filename should be gccg_install.zip. Or... here's a direct link (http://gccg.sourceforge.net/downloads/gccg_install.zip).

Aha! Well, let's see. Here are you install instructions (http://gccg.sourceforge.net/pages/linux.php).
You've got it trickier than the Windows users, but you should be able to work typing in those commands. Probably best to make the gccg directory on your desktop... are you familiar with running terminal commands?
-
I did as you said. But I have problems with running it with ./lotr

I did as you said. But I have problems with running it with ./lotr
Is it case-sensitive? Maybe ./Lotr? What error(s) are you getting?
Each game module has a startup script with the same name as the module, with capitalized first letter.

Thank you so far! :gp:  =D> Kralik, you are our brain!
if I type ./Lotr it says:

Do you have SDL installed?
Install SDL, SDL_image, SDL_net, SDL_ttf and SDL_mixer using your distribution's package manager (i.e. apt, yum, yast etc...)
Which Linux distribution are you using?

You have to download the pictures. It's a single file to run on Windows, not sure about Linux... wlk?
Elrohir, if you have access to Windows, you could run the script and then copy the card images over to Linux. Eh?
EDIT: See if this works:
./gccg_package install lotr-cards-*

-
IF you copy the .gccg directory that should work.
-
Clarification: C:\.gccg. ;)
Or if you want GCCG to be portable, put it on a flashdrive, and create a folder named "home" in the GCCG directory. Copy .gccg to home (so it's GCCG MAIN FOLDER\home\.gccg). Now you can play it anywhere! :)
-
Is there any way to export your GCCG card collection to be viewed in another program (maybe Excel)? I use an external deckbuilding program, and it's tough to keep track of what cards I have as I acquire more and more cards, so a way to view this outside of GCCG would be really helpful.
-
Well, first of all, in GCCG you can easily use proxies for cards you dont own yet, so you can play with all cards :)
-
Well, first of all, in GCCG you can easily use proxies for cards you dont own yet, so you can play with all cards :)
Yes, but I'm playing with a friend who's new to the game, so as a handicap we're only allowing me to use cards that I "own" in GCCG. That way, as he gets better at the game, my decks are also getting better as I acquire more cards.
-
GOod question... there was one but I cant remember.
-
I was just playing a game of gccg against Mager and was in a very stronge position to win, nearly 100% guaranteed.. When my draw deck vanishes..
Yes my draw deck disappeared mid-game??!!
Does anyone have an idea as to how this could have occured?
So I had to accept an undecided result when I was definately going to win. This is very annoying.
Olorin was watching he should be able to confirm the missing draw deck thing.
-
I had the same problem, when I played against Mager this friday.
My draw deck disappeared and he put many cards face down, I didn't know why.
I just stopped to play.
And I was going to win too :-S......
-
maybe this Mager pal just hidden your draw deck under some card or out of your window :D
-
Probably, it must have been out of window though, I looked everywhere in sight and under all cards.
Kralik: Please try and do something about this if possible. There really should be no need to ever touch an opponents draw deck / discard pile / dead pile.. Maybe gccg could be changed so that you can't ever touch an opponents decks..??
-
I have never heard of this happening, so it might be foul play. I'm not sure how you would hide the draw deck off the window... perhaps by grabbing the farthest corner and dragging it out of the screen by one pixel. Too bad you can't check in retrospect to see if you could still draw cards (by typing d1, d2, d3, etc.). I'd suggest talking to wlk if you suspect anything, and he's the one (if anyone) who could change the core behavior of the program. Remember, GCCG is used to play various games, so the sort of thing as limiting who moves what deck is probably defined in the base program, not the LotR module.
-
Well I ran into Mager again last night and he insists that he didn't hide it.. But he also cheated a win from me.
We reloaded our game to try and see if I could find my draw deck, I couldn't, he then declared loss and in the time it took me to click on accept result he changed his declaration to 'win' therefore tricking me.
So I will say to all who encounter Mager on gccg, be suspect of foul play.
-
Indeed, this is a plausible explanation.
I myself faced such similar cheating attempts, like exactly merging several minion cards in a desperate attempt to hide them.
I hate when we have to implement some anti-cheater features !
Then we'll face the "disconnect when losing" thing, etc...
I say if someone's suspected for cheating, just don't play him anymore, like you'd do in real life.
I don't say this specific case is deliberate cheating (I mean it might be a manipulation error not on purpose).
Anyway, I will think about this (enforcing moves inside the playmat, or at least logging something like "xxx moved yyy's draw deck out of the play area").
-
just for reference, i know that I'm on again off again a lot, It's because that i live in a third world country and the internet is terrible, i love playing lotr, even losing is fun most of the time, so yeah.

I'd echo legolas3333 with the connection issues. My internet can be flaky -- often it will drop and then come back instantly. I haven't had any problems resuming games, and my opponents have been gracious.
How about some sort of /slash command that restores your decks to their original positions?
-
There was a time when moving deck wasn't even allowed.
Might go back to the old days :)

yes, i see no incentive to move you decks at all

To check how many cards are in your opponent's draw deck when playing discard. ;)

Hmm you don't need to move the decks for that no ?
-
Hmm you don't need to move the decks for that no ?
Actually, you do. It would be a nice fix if you moved it over a little, as digit(s) of your opponent's deck size are often obscured. The larger the deck, the farther to the right the stack goes, and the farther off the screen.

So I installed GCCG on a separate computer with no problemo... Except 1; I set my username to be Calam (which is already my username on another computer). Now when I log in, it tells me I have the incorrect password. Unfortunately I do not know how to enter the correct password, nor do I properly remember what password I used to begin with.
Help?
-
Here's what you do:
On your second computer, erase the directory C:\.gccg (this keeps the GCCG settings, including your username and a randomly-generated password).
Copy C:\.gccg from your first computer to the second.
-
So I just copy the files over, not re-install them?
-
So I just copy the files over, not re-install them?
The files in C:\.gccg are the settings, not the program. Just copy from computer 1 to computer 2.
-
if i would like to crop the images so that the black boarders are removed, will the game still run fine? does the program detect the right dimensions of the images?
can i crop the images?
-
another question: why is it filenaming on some of the sets for GCCG are not different compated to the rest of the sets. Example for set "Fellowship", the jpg for "armor" is "92armor.jpg".
as compared to Lackey, I think all jpg files has a uniform naming convention.
-
I believe you could crop the images if you really wanted.
As for the filenames, things like 92armor.jpg were actually Decipher's standard for the early sets.
-
so, what format do most GCCG players usually use during casual and tournament gameplay? movie? standard? open? etc.?
-
Movie and Standard.

FotR and TTT block are common as well. Occasionally I see Expanded, not sure about open.

how can i change my avatar?

/set avatar "file name"
-wtk

/set avatar fish
Try that.
-wtk

thanks!
-
can i have my custom avatar? make a png file (32x32) then put it in the avatar dir, then use it using "/set avatar"?
-
Well, others wont see it then. IF you want a custom avatar, I think it should be included in a future update, and others will use it as well.

1- How will I know if my opponent's deck is made of cards that were bought or proxy cards only?
2- Once I have bought lots of cards, how do I use them to construct my decks?
3- Can I mix proxy and bought cards in a deck?
-
1. It states the number of proxy cards each deck uses when you start a game.
2. /newdeck TITLE where "TITLE" is the name of your deck. Then right click and view collection to build your deck.
3. Yes, you can mix. If you use all cards you "own," you are awarded a Promo after each game.
-wtk
-
i see! #3 is exciting..
so, do you guys hold a virtual tourney wherein only bought cards are allowed (no proxies)? is what is the price for a champion in certain tourney?
-
Hi...
i have installed gccg LoTR and it works...but when I lanch it, it ask me this:
"You are a windows user and I am unable to dermine your user name.
You must set your user name. Just type /newuser <your_name>"
I have try many many different names but it always says me:
"Invalid username. Must be 2...10 letters alphanumeric characters."
Please help me!!!
-
Don't type the < > when you type your username.
-wtk
-
I believe that the moving of draw decks has become an issue again...I personally believe that there should be no way to move the deck, but the deck itself should be a few clicks over. The reason for this is that you cannot see the number of cards in your opponent's deck near the beginning of the game.
I suggest these changes to be made soon, if not just banning Mager's IP.

I have a question - now that I have downloaded GCCG can i burn it to disk and give it to a mate to save him the time / bandwidth of downloading it? Will it work - and can he select a new username?
If we can do this - perhaps we could distribute the disk to new players. Only problem that may arise is if GCCG gets too popular and can't support the influx of players (which appears to be already happening). We need to get more people playing, not just online, but also using real cards.
-

Give him a disk with just the Wizard on it--i.e., the one that you have to open to install everything else. It won't save much on bandwidth, because the person will still have to download all of the image files.
Save files and passwords are kept in another file completely. I can show you some time (thanks Kralik for showing me) but if you wanted to delete a file, you would have to do it there. Don't see why you would want to!
-wtk
-
You can just burn the entire GCCG directory -- it is portable. As wtk said, username and password are stored in C:\.gccg. OR, little known, you can make GCCG completely portable by making a directory called home (GCCG\home) where settings will then be saved.
-
hello all.
just downloaded gccg. after putting in newuser (Trebor), and restarting gccg, i tried to enter again to find the message:
Connecting to gccg.servebeer.com port 29120
Server closed connection
ABNORMAL EXIT!
any clues on what i should do next ? there a way to change username (thinking this may be the problem b/c message was saying something to the effect of: username maybe already used) ?
thanks for any help.

everything working now. ;D

Is there a way to save imported decks? When I change decks and go back I have to remake all the changes I have made, such as SdA not having Shake off the Shadow properly as 8U13 (its 8 13).
-
I use Zorbec's Decklist Builder to make my decks and save them directly to GCCG>decks>LOTR. It seems to work fine and I cam import without any problem.
-
I realise that and I do the same, but I mean if I edit a deck in GCCG it doesnt save the changes if I change deck
-
Decks made in GCCG will autosave with their deck title. However, all imported decks default to the title "Imported Deck"; each time you import another deck it will overwrite the last one.

What file? You need to be more specific.
-
So... can we change that?
I just import all of my decks but make any changes in Zorbec's. As far as the SdA bug... you could manually edit SdA.xml to have the right number and that would fix it for you permanently. It shouldn't be too much of a hassle.
-
No same Computer same user, but I just tried it again and it Didnt recognize me and said I had wrong password? I dont remember setting one
I had this same problem, and I deleted the C:\.gccg file and I'm still having trouble. Advice?

Do that, and then you MUST use a different username. Try something you've never used before.

I cant get past the newuser<your_name>. Please help. I entered a name and hit enter but nothing happens... am I forgetting something?
-
don't add the <> part, just do /newuser youname

Thanks.

i Got a problem. I cant connect to the game. It say "acces denied". i tried to talk with and gm or adminitrator, but anybody respond me. Plz...i want to play. i see that any GM is interested to make the community grow. I Must leave this, if anybody can help me. Plze !
-
Are you trying on the same or a different computer than you were using before?
Did you perhaps reload your operating system?
-
From another PC, it works.....for example in my job. But in my....even i cant open the program, not offline....i tried one and oooone to reinstall it
but nothing happen T_T
-
im so sad, coz if i cant resolve this, i should leave this community and not play online T_T
-
You're giving up too quickly! This is a common error because GCCG stores your username with a password on the first PC. The reason it doesn't work on your other PC is that you do not have that info (after all, would you want someone else to impersonate you?)
Simply put:
1) From the PC that works, copy the folder C:\.gccg to a flash drive.
2) On the PC that doesn't work, first delete the folder C:\.gccg. Then copy the data over from the flash drive.
Also, note that the administrators and mods of TLHH did not program GCCG. So you needn't expect them to be able to "fix" the program for you... but of course, we will try to help.
-
The problem is that i got this "trouble" since....at bout 2 weeks...and any solution...i ve tried everything...i will try again thx
-
I tried, Even i cant update anything, i cant install any game....i dunno..
-
Perhaps since you do have it working at your work computer, you could copy your GCCG files from there?
-
Anyone know a deckbuilding utility I can use with a Mac?
-
please give me step by step instructions for importing decks from Z's deckbuilder to GCCG. I attempted to "save" the Z decks into the GCCG deck folder but when I am in the GCCG program they do not show as decks i can "import"
-
please give me step by step instructions for importing decks from Z's deckbuilder to GCCG. I attempted to "save" the Z decks into the GCCG deck folder but when I am in the GCCG program they do not show as decks i can "import"
Is it under GCCG\decks\LotR? Saving them as .dek (Z's normal format? Use "Save" not "Export")
-
Has anyone tried to import Forth the three hunters! from zorbeck's into a deck? It doesn't seem to work for me.
-
Has anyone tried to import Forth the three hunters! from zorbeck's into a deck? It doesn't seem to work for me.
I have never imported Forth the three hunters because I do not play Standard. However, I can confirm you that I also had trouble importing some cards (Last Throw) from SdA deckbuilder. I think it happens the SdA file differs from the GCCG file. Maybe the same things happen with Zorbec. I dunno.
-
The SdA cards that do not import are actually due to bugs in the SdA database (misnumbering, spaces in card info, etc).
For Forth the Three Hunters!, perhaps the importer is choking since there are three versions of that card and Zorbec's probably adds extra info besides the normal collector's info to distinguish between them. I haven't seen wlk around for a long while, but he would be the one to ask to fix it... :-k

Just wondering... Would it be possible to have some sort of 'lockout' added for league games on gccg to stop people from watching the games..? Hence stop people seeing opponents decks before having to play them..
I remember it happened in the fotr block league that people were constantly having to tell viewers to leave to avoid giving away secrets.
Not that it's a big deal, but if something like that were easy to add to the program it might be good..
-
I think we can deal with League issues separately, no need to change code, just engender some good fair play into the game.
-
no a question, but a remark :)
i have in my movie deck 4x Orc Pursuer (5C108) and 4x Orc Pursuer (7C303) and GCCG says that deck is illegal cuz i have 8x Orc Pursuer.
not a big deal, i just noticed that so il "report" it :)

Maybe you try to wirte the first one differently, like Orc Pursuer* OR Hobbit Sword****

Indeed, this is a pain because the dupe check is based on unique names. So far cards used to have unique names :/

On MetW this is handled by fair behavior.
When playing a tournament game, players use country flags (but you could signal it using any other way). While in game with flags, you are not allowed to lurk.
If someone does, he's reported and banned from the tournament.

Flags sound like the way to go then. Maybe something on the gccg lotr tcg main page could say something about this so that everyone knows, use it for promotion for the TTT league, the same way as: 'FOTR league now recruiting, see The last Homely House, Valinor for details' was used..?
WitchKingx5 and I had alot of viewers in our first league match..

What does "lurk" here mean:
1) that anyone who participates in the League is not allowed to watch the match
2) that anyone who particpates in the League is allowed to watch the match, but prohibited to saying anything about it
3) that no one is allowed to watch the match
4) that everyone is allowed to watch, but prohibited to say anything about it
5) none of the above, write your answer ____________________
;D  ;D
If someone does, he's reported and banned from the tournament.
This would mean that cases 1 and 2 are not the correct answers which leaves 3 and 4... and 5 of course
To me case 3 seems a bit too strict, so I would go for case 4) that everyone is allowed to watch, but prohibited to say anything about it. That's my final answer!
Did I win a million dollars?
-
not sure this anti scouting thing is necessary. i have been sitting in gccg loungue waiting for a game for about half an hour - and there are two games going on. for something to do it would be nice to spectate, but i don't want to upset anyone.
the leagues are just a bit of fun for me - if it gets too serious i think it takes away from it a bit ... just my take on it
-
Anyone who participates in the leagues should not be allowed to view the match, I am sure anyone in the league would happily leave the game if asked.
So the answer to hrcho's quiz would be number 1, only banning people if they refuse to leave a league game after being asked.
Using country flags for league games will stop any problems, people in the league will get used to switching avatars before every game (like hrcho and I did tonight) and also get used to not viewing games between two people using flags as avatars.
-

I agree with chompers completely. However, MuadDib and some other people obviously had some bad experience during FotR League so I'll respect their wishes.
Though, it is quite boring when everyone is playing league matches and you can't play at the moment or watch them play.
-
I personally don't think that there should be a no-watch rule in effect. During the FoTR League, I had something like six decks...if someone wanted to try and play a match-up and I suspected that, I would just switch decks.

Whenever I view my collection in GCCG, the site cards are always tilted. Here's what I mean
(https://lotrtcgwiki.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg23.imageshack.us%2Fimg23%2F4356%2Fomgteu.jpg&hash=ae53d45a96e248191bf8ba106675003506fb51ee)
How do I change this? (http://img23.imageshack.us/i/omgteu.jpg/)
-
i am not sure what you mean here ... all the cards have titles ... check Gandalf and Aragorn on the same page .. ?
oh der ... helps when i read what you have read :P
-
Tilted.
Thats because sites are played that way, although mine are laid out like the rest of the cards
-
How do I revert it back so that the site cards are standing straight again? It wasn't like this on my previous computer.

I seem to remember you being the person who frequently asked others to leave during our games.. Why did it matter then and not now?
As I have not been on GCCG since, well, probably February it does not matter. But I have never asked anyone to leave a game (with the exception of Kralik, where we would each ask each other to leave if we had something to test against each other).
You are likely thinking of Kralik though in the Lost to the Goblins sweepstakes or maybe in the...well...there was another one that maybe I'll break out again someday.
-wtk

No, it was you, numerous times. During League games with me. Asking others to leave. Just wondering why you changed your mind on the matter..

I suppose I cannot deny it because I didn't record the games. But the only person I remember having wait in the lobby was Kralik on a few occasions...like I said, because we used to test ridiculous (and, often on his part, devastating) stuff.

What is our purpose? Why are we here? Where is God? ;D
Our purpose is to kick #$&*@! in LOTR TCG. We are here because of LOTR TCG. God is... hey, where is God? Who took him? ;D ;D
This is not meant to be a philosophical question, I am just wondering where God has gone on GCCG. Last several times I logged on he/she wasn't there. ???
-
It must mean that GCCG cannot bear His approval anymore......

Hey, Is there a way to DL Gccg onto a windows 64 bit vista? It seems to die in setup... Everything seems to extract fine, but then when running the batch, is goes a few seconds and then stops what it is doing and closes. Any thoughts? Thanks
-
Hmmm... I wasn't aware of any 64-bit problems. wlk?
-
I guess maybe that's not the problem. My Windows 7 laptop is in the shop for a couple of weeks, and I was gonna get my fix on this one, but it's not working out... never make it to the point of being able to open the lotr.bat file, on account of it abandons operating in the setup process. Thanks for any ideas. I've tried deleting and retrying several times, to no avail.

Have you tried some other game like MECCG? Maybe the central server is having issues. As far as going back in time... IF it ever came to that, someone (me perhaps) could set up a new server for LotR. Problem would be losing collection information, so let's not go there. ;)
-
GUYS I AM STARVING TO PLAY! please help the poor fans and resurrect the server! ;( ;( ;(

MECCG gives the same message. I mailed wlk via tlhh, but no response from him yet. anybody knows what happened?

You could try to get a hold of the GCCG creator perhaps?

Some frivolous discussion has been removed. Search function is your friend.

Some legitimate discussion was removed as well.
Yes, I believe that would be my last post. I'll repeat it.
I found that GCCG finds Aragorn, Heir to the White City as legal in movie format and I believe it needs fixing. Especially since there are certain players that take advantage of that and use him in movie format with no regard to the rules whatsoever. I've seen Hobbit Farmer being used in combo with Sleeping Quarters and I've been told to #$&*@! off when I tried to turn their attention to the fact that Hobbit Farmer doesn't work with sites other than FotR.
Anyway... just Aragorn, Heir to the White City ;)

Nope, 3 Bulgarians who stand together (which is admirable) for a wrong cause (which is not) and go by the names: Bulgarin, Andros and Luchko.
-
God is gone. Again. Does anyone know why?
And Aragorn, Heir to the White City is still Movie legal. Already have some new people included him in their Movie decks, although they didn't know he isn't legal in movie, but GCCG recognized their decks as legal.
-
Yeh, there are so many players that never read any Rules etc. and are just playing what they like and how they like. (http://lotrtcgdb.com/forums/index.php/topic,5441.0.html)

God is gone. Again. Does anyone know why?
The Jews killed him.

HEY, i was just intalling GCCG cause i'm sick and got the itch for a game. but i tried to set my username as "macheteman" but i suppose it still remembers my old username, so it won't let me in, it keeps saying "maybe someone has already registered with that username"
well, how the heck do i get it running properly?
-
Are you running the game on Windows?
C: --> All Programs --> .gccg --> don't remember the next folder --> delete "user name" and "password"
That's going off memory. Haven't played since March or so.
-wtk

ok thanks
i actually deleted all the files and reintalled it but thanks, i'll try to remember the easy way next time...

I just installed gccg on my acer netbook. I am having problems.
1. Cant play in full screen.
2.Wont let me type anything. Not even a username! My keyboard works, but it doesnt work on gccg apparently.
Anyone having the same issues, or know how to fix them? Thanks
-
1. start the file :Install LotrFullscreen, or if you have already, there is also a file called LotrFullscreen.
2. can't help with that, maybe try to type something again and press "enter" then, but I can't really help you with that. Sorry.

There should be Lotr-fullscreen.bat file in you designated folder. If that doesn't work, I don't know what the problem is, but try reinstalling GCCG.
As for the text, are you sure you can't write anything? My friend just couldn't see his text bar and thought he couldn't write anything either. Maybe that's your problem too. If not, see the solution above. ;)

Does anyone know why there are only three 2p tables? There used to be five. I believe they disappeared around the same time as God. Did I mention that God is gone? ;)
-
I'd say swap the 4-player table for a 2-player one is server capacity is the issue.
-
I would agree. As great as the 4 player table is, I never see it in use. Am I wrong about this, or am I not online enough to see it used by other players? (note: sorry to those of you who worked so hard to get the 4p table active.)
-
I was among the loudest voices to get 4p table back, but I agree it would be better if it is turned into a 2p table. It is very hard to get people to play a 4p game and I myself must admit, the interface is not as good as I expected it to be.
-
is it possible to play this on lan?
-
Am I the only one having trouble logging onto GCCG today?
-
Still can't log into GCCG. Tried updating it, still can't log into the server. Anyone else having this problem?
-
nope, it works fine for me and many other people as I have seen while logged in. The problem must be at your end. Try updating everything. If that doesn't work, I suggest saving your account and reinstalling gccg.
-
Update everything failed me. Not sure what could have happened. Going to try reinstalling GCCG...
-
Reinstalling GCCG didn't help. I open the program, and it opens, but it doesn't even try to connect. Any suggestions anyone?
-
Try going into the C drive --> .gccg --> [I forgot the next folder] --> delete the history file.
That should work.

And if not, copy the username and password files somewhere safe, delete every other file, put the username and password files back then open GCCG. That will definitely work.

And if not, copy the username and password files somewhere safe, delete every other file, put the username and password files back then open GCCG. That will definitely work.

Can you explain what you mean? I deleted my entire folder, re-downloaded GCCG, installed it, and I still get the same result. Intro screen, no attempt at a server log on.
I have no idea what caused the problem, the program was running fine two days ago and I changed nothing...

Try going into the C drive --> .gccg --> [I forgot the next folder] --> delete the history file.
That should work.

I didn't see a history file. Could that be because I just dumped and reinstalled GCCG?
-
Go into the C Drive, not where you go to launch the program.
