wow. am i seriously the only one here who gives 2 craps about this band? seriously, i would think people would be somewhat drawn by the amount of passion and emotion Aaron Weiss sings with. it is absolutely stunning.
if you have never listened to them... LISTEN TO IT!!!
-
I wasn't too impressed when I listened to them.

yay. at least there is someone... i can't wait to listen to The King Beetle of Coconut Hill. and i'm not even joking about the title. they have some of the weirdest titles.

OK. i finally listened to the album. and it is WAY different than the rest of their music. it is significantly more singing. less yelling. bullet to binary part two was the biggest disappointment, because they did some funky things with the music and singing, but most of it exceeded my expectations. a few of the best were:
Every Thought a Thought of You
The Angel of Death came to Davids room
King Beetle of Coconut Estate
Allah! Allah! Allah!

Messes of Men is poetic genius. Limewire's not connecting for some reason, so I have yet to listen to the new album....
:gp: for pointing them out.

Messes of men was freakin' AMAZING!
"You caught me making eyes, with the other boatsmen's wives/
And heard me laughing louder at the jokes told by their daughters/
I'll set my course for land, but as you well uderstand/
It takes a steady hand to navigate adulterous waters!!!
yes, poetic genius.

hey,
the guy at my youth group yesterday is friends with that band...he read us the lyrics from the king beetle song. Though apparently its all hush hush, as we shouldn't know ;)
-
the beetle song is amazing. freakin' amazing.
"why not be utterly changed into fire?"
but, the lyrics were out from concerts and stuff. the actual cd recordings weren't sposed to be released till the 19th of may. but it leaked on the 15 of april.

Well. I found out that they were on Tooth and Nail, which justified me taking another look since Tooth and Nail is my favorite record label (hey, they got...Anberlin, Blindside, Classic Crime, Norma Jean, Falling Up, ABR, Demon Hunter, FF5, FM Static, TFK, Project 86, OC Supertones, P.O.D., Showbread, Kutless, Jeremy Camp, Manafest, Jaymes Reunion, Seventh Day Slumber). So I checked more into it and this band sounds really emo, really softcore and really...bad. Sorry. It reminds me of the late great band Falling Up's trip into the psychedelic and hallucinogenic with the album Fangs! Experimental rock needs to strike a balance between experimental and rock, Falling Up did that well with Dawn Escapes and Captiva (Lights of Reedsport, Hotel Aquarium and Good Morning Planetarium, anyone?) and I've never seen any other band come close.

which album were you listening to? they definitely aren't emo. but you probably got that from the way his voice sounds. it takes some getting used to.
their new album is more folk in nature than anything.
