Title: Entire Fellowship
Post by: punkboy1985 on May 17, 2009, 01:08:35 AM

Hi all!

This is my first post...WOW! ;D

I would like to build a deck with all the 9 members of the fellowship...may not be a good idea but I would evenly try!
For the evil part of the deck I would have thought the orcs of Moria 'cause I have The Balrog the durin's bane, and the Cave Troll of Moria scourge of the black pit...

So...I'll wait for your suggestions

Many thanks....

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Well, decide which of the available 9 companions you want to use

I recommend

Frodo, Reluctant Adventurer
Pippin, Hobbit of Some Intelligence (a speed bump and free burden to bid)
Merry, From O'er the Brandywine
Sam, Son of Hamfast
Gandalf, The Grey Pilgrim (some may disagree with me)
Gimli, Son of Gloin (nothing better)
Legolas, Greenleaf
Aragorn, Heir to the White City (not sure about this one)
Boromir, Lord of Gondor (for the Rog)

Many thanks TheJord
I looked at the cards that you have suggested me...and they seems to be good, but I will put Aragorn, King in Exile in my deck. :P
So...now I have the complete fellowship, what's next? (possession, event, condition etc..)

Greetings from Italy to all!!!!

Well lets see, I am thinking a pipeweed build with a Balrog Boromir, so Armor, swords and some Flaming Brands. Pipeweed can heal and remove twilight, Greenleaf and Aragorn's Bow for directed wounding.

It depends on which cards you have acces.

I play my 9 companion deck with the following companions:

Frodo, Resolute Hobbit
Sam, Great Elf Warrior
Merry, Loyal Companion
Pippin, Brave Decoy
Gandalf, Leader of the Company
Legolas, Sceptical Guide
Gimli, Lively Combatant
Boromir, Bearer of Council
Aragorn, Elessar Telcontar

Goldberry and Tom Bombadil are very important too (Pippin replaces companions in skirmish, Tom Bombadil cancels!)! It is up to you, how you want to start. I suggest either Gandalf, or all Hobbits...
Add some Sworn Companion and cards you like to have (eg: Farewell to Lorien, Traveled Leader, Starglass, Elendils Army etc..)

or you can play the "fellowship" companions from "Ages End"

As Shadow, I love to play:
2x Sauron
2x Balrog, demon of might
2x Shelob, her ladyship
2x Gollum, Skulker
3x Led Astray
3x Captured by the ring
2x Gothmog, morgul Leader
2x The Mouth of Sauron
2x Cunningly Hidden
etc...

King in Exile might be nice with all the aragorn signets. Trust me as you once did is another way to go with a big fellowship deck, but I really like Gandalf, the Grey pilgrim.

A Ranger's Versatility for sure and rivers/forests for your sitepath. You need it, for Enquea LoM will destroy you.....Remember though that it has had a errata! Exert a ranger to exhaust. And maybe some move limit + cards like Gift of Boats, Durin's Secret, and some early sites....This way you give your opponent some headache, because he has to choose wether to keep certain cards, or to get rid of them. I never thought this tactic would work, but it does. Knowledge is everything though, so Glamdring wouldn't hurt!

A few things, you have some things that aren't very useful cause you have them only once. Gandalf you must have, and thus add him 4 times. Nine Walkers is useless, you'll be spending a lot of twilight no matter what. Armor is the way to go. A promise just once is useless. Even when you get it early game, 1 extra strength is not that much. And you are likely to use Gandalf so Glamdring is great as is more copies of Servant of the secret fire.

Agreed , Dagger strike and Servant of the Secret fire are the way to go as you need skirmish events that work in lots of skirmishes , hobbit stealth is always helpful for the balrog too.
Goblin Armory is also very nice if you have them.

try adding events and conditions that effect multiple minions at once, like a blended race, golden light on the land, blood of numenor, and not feared in sunlight.  These will protect all your companions.  Oh, Legolas Prince of Mirkwood is really good once you can put his knives on him.  His text combined with his knives gives him an extra strength bonus against Nazgul, Orcs, and Uruk-hai.  :hey:

You'll need to use a different ring.  SaWtC is not fellowship block.

and Such a Weight to Carry isn't from Fellowship block

Also, note that The One Ring (7R2) is NOT from Fellowship block. I'd suggest picking another. ;)

Flashing steel isn't FOTR block. I would use Boromir, Son of Denethor instead because you have 4 hobbits. Also, what is your starting?
