so I know that a lot of TLHH members dislike the Hunter keyword, so do my friends and I. So here's what me and a few of my friends have done to change it. Instead of being strength +X we play if the character wins a skirmish you must place X wounds on your characters (we got the idea since three hunters is a wounding deck) I don't know if this is a good way of doing but it evens the game a lot more and opens up new deck types.

Too powerful. The ability was not designed to work this way, and it simply overlaps damage bonuses.

not quite, because you can spread the wounds out over your fellowship, (or minions)
i'm not sure its a good revision, but it is different.

well yeah that was the point cause like 3 people in our group play with hunters stuff so we tried to even it out and this has worked the best so far
-
I wish it was an unloaded key word like tracker or valient. The number at the end makes it difficult to explain, but I'd prefer unloaded. The damage adder is preferable to strength, but I probably agree with FM that its too powerful.
-
You didn't like it so you made it MORE powerful?
Eh...
-
hmm I could see where it would be too powerful but let me explain how it has worked for us, in our little group nobody plays swarm very much and almost everyone plays ninja gollum, corsairs or nazgul corruption and my little bro plays a sauron, the lord of the rings deck.
the point is the hunter keyword is less effective because you're facing enduring characters in our group most of the time (shelob, her ladyship, castimar, enquea, toto and sauron) so sometimes at least in our group it's better to not play with the hunter keyword cause it could give an advantage to the opponent
-
So you turned all companions into Dwarves with built-in More Yet to Come ?
Well, whatever, it's your local. I'd just be prepared to accept that if you play anywhere else, Hunter will retain its original game function.
Besides, if you know what you're doing, you can still clear the board of your opponent's enduring minions even WITH your group's new definition of Hunter - in fact, it should make it EASIER!!
-
well no it doesn't, the hunter keywords are just dumped on characters that benefit (ala her ladyship), as previously mentioned, it probably only works in our group but yeah... for some reason my group kinda evolved into a strength based meta not wounding based like most other ones i know, so the hunter makes a bigger difference as a strength bonus than as a wounding bonus
-
nothin wrong with an evolving meta, that's for sure. at least you have one - i don't think there's been a meta in my area for 4-5 years.
enjoy it, do what you can to bring new people into the game and keep it alive. :)

lol thanks for the encouragement
