Title: Music Genre: Rapcore
Post by: SomeRandomDude on June 02, 2008, 07:43:28 PM
Okay...so I've started listening to some rapcore music, and I absolutely love it...as a musical genre...lyrics of the artists I've been listening to (Linkin Park's album Meteora) aren't too great.

BTW, Rapcore is a Rap/Rock mix, and is closely related to !nu-metal, only with more emphasis on rapping and less emphasis on the bass. !Nu-metal is way to boring, rapcore is way better. You can listen to an example: Hit the Floor- Linkin Park (http://www.imeem.com/fobodysnault/music/6UsjTlpS/linkin_park_hit_the_floor/)

So, the questions I have are...

1). Who likes this genre?

2). Anyone know any Christian artists in this genre? (a lot of awesome genres, prog rock, prog metal, etc doin't get touched by CCM. :( )

w00t just found Pillar, Project 86 and some other stuff.

Working on a playlist here, any individual song ideas would be great.

Linkin Park rule. Seen em live and they were in my top rankings of performances. Meteora and Hybrid Thoery are phenomenal albums.

POD is also in this genre. They do not make christian music, at least not being their main concern, but they are christians..

Yeah, Linkin Park is good, I listened to their Meteora album, but their lyrics are way too depressing for me.

P.O.D. isn't actually rapcore, they're nu-metal, which is like rapcore only less emphasis on rapping and WAY more bass than is normal. But I like them.

Linkin Park are one of my favourite bands ever ever ever ever. I saw them live in London in January at it was totally amazing. I love how they went in a new direction with Minutes to Midnight. Don't get me wrong I love the old sound on Hybrid Theory and meteora but they had stayed the same over both those albums and needed to change a bit to stay fresh.

Saw the "minutes" tour in manchester, was amazing. Youre right it was very refreshing to see a diversity in M2m but like you said also the other albums are simply stunning.

Every single time I try to go to a concert, something happens that makes me unable to go. I missed Skillet, I missed Disciple, I missed Superchic[k]...(BTW, those are the big bands in CCM). Especially since Skillet has pyrotechnics!

Anyways, back on subject, did you know that Minutes to Midnight is a reference to the Doomsday Clock? ;) I'm not a big fan of their latest album, I prefer their older stuff. Or would prefer it if they just weren't so depressing. Their best lyrics are from Session, and that's saying something.

You know, I've been through Rapcore, but I think my tastes have moved on. More to the modern music genre. U2, acoustic stuff...

Not explicitly a fan of rapcore...
Numetal for sure, industrial metal, etc.

I digg Project 86

Check out Hurt or Five Finger Death Punch

Wes Borland has a new band - Black Light Burns

I'm an aspiring vocalist too...
