Title: Dismay Our Enemies
Post by: Kralik on June 30, 2009, 08:52:18 PM
Dismay Our Enemies seems like it has potential, but the ordering is important: Does your opponent choose a minion to discard before or after the wounds are assigned to the minion who lost the skirmish?

The opponent chooses to discard a minion before wounds are placed. I am pretty sure that it is handled like that.

I'd say that since assigning wounds is a required action, that would happen before the optional action of playing Dismay Our Enemies.

Yep, ES is right. But the problem with Dismay Our Enemies is that the Shadow can prevent it, which is why it seems to me like a bad card.

Costs 0, so if you're not putting out much twilight after Shadow...

And then you play against [Raider] or [Men] and 4 cards in your deck become useless... Not sure about it, like I say. There may be a deck for it, perhaps Twins elvents with few companions.

Seems like there are already a lot ways to discard a minion during the regroup which seems like all its doing since the shadow gets to choose the minion so they will choose a minion that's already skirmished.

I think, it is a strong card. I really love it - and I use it 2-3 times in my FOTR Elven decks.

I'd say that since assigning wounds is a required action, that would happen before the optional action of playing Dismay Our Enemies.
Great! Then it is even better than I thought!

Yes, but if you kill the minion you has skirmished, the card discards a minion. Incredible! Has anyone any foils of this card left?

Probably best in FoTR block without particular Shadow cultures.

Fight and kill a weak minion, then force the Shadow player to discard a stronger minion. The discarding could happen before it skirmishes. Think perhaps of a Moria swarm with Balrog... kill the wimpy minions and then play Dismay Our Enemies after killing the last one to nix the Rog before it fights.

Post the deck when you make it.
