Title: Morgul RB Wounding - Shadow only so far
Post by: YellowFuzzle on July 02, 2009, 01:49:50 PM
Hello all,

I'm working on expanding my meager deck collection for Gccg (aka - I'm working on new and exciting ways to lose  ;) ). While looking around for deck ideas, I found the King block deck posted by Legolas3333 here: http://lotrtcgdb.com/forums/index.php?topic=2055.0 (http://lotrtcgdb.com/forums/index.php?topic=2055.0). I modified it for use in Movie. To sum up the deck quickly, the goal is the exert/exhaust the Ringbearer then kill him off with Gollum DaD, the Witch-King, Lord of the Nazgul, or Ulaire Enquea, Ringwraith in Twilight. Here's what I have so far:

Minions:
2x Gorbag, Covetous Captain
2x Morgul Brawler
4x Morgul Destroyer
3x Morgul Ambusher
3x Morgul Hound
2x Morgul Whelp
3x Ulaire Nelya, Ringwraith in Twilight
3x The Witch-King, Lord of the Nazgul
2x Ulaire Enquea, Ringwraith in Twilight
3x Gollum, Dark as Darkness

Events
2x So Polite
3x Captured by the Ring

Conditions:
3x Stronghold of Minas Morgul

Possessions:
2x Fell Beast

My questions are:

1. Is there an obvious card that I am missing? I was thinking about Resistance Becomes Unbearable, but I feel like I already have Nazgul wounding power.
2. What would you cut from this deck to get it more towards 30 cards?
3. Any ideas for a freeps side to go with this? I was thinking Knights might be a good match.

Thanks for the help.

I think that your deck isn't focused enough on wounding the RB. I think you should remove Gorbag and the Orcs that aren't wounding. Add 4x Morgul Brute. You may need at least another Enquea.

Remove 2 Gollum to add 1 Captured by the ring and something else. I think you should play 4 WK and 4 Fell Beast but that's my personal opinion.

You may also want to add Grima, Wormtongue just in case you play against a loaded Durin who is stronger than your Witch-King.

How about:

- 16x orcs
- 2x Gollum
+ 4x Morgul Brute
+ 2x Fell Beast
+ 2x WitchKing
+ 1x Captured By the Ring
+ 2x Enquea
+ 3x It Wants to Be Found (To get some burdens to help Brute and Enquea)

What about Not Easily Destroyed?

i'd say if you are focusing on a wounding the ring-bearer strategy, at some point your opponent will put on the one ring to save their ring-bearer from all the wounds. punnishing them with a few wraith world and opening up a way for enquea, LoM to wreak some havok may be the way to go.

Get rid of the destroyers and ambushers to add
-4 Morgul Destroyer
-3 Morgul Ambusher
-2 So Polite
+1 The Witch-King, Lord of the Nazgul
+2 Ulaire Enquea, Ringwraith in Twilight
+1 Gollum, Dark as Darkness
+4 Morgul Brute
+1 Captured By The Ring

And if you have room sweeter meats, since if the ring-bearer is exhausted gollum will be a huge target

Thanks for the help. I changed about half the cards in it already... :)

I'm running a setup like what cl0ckw0rk and Legolas suggested, with a few Wraith Worlds as machetman said. Ithink now I've just got to play it a few times and see how it runs.

I made a Knights-based freeps side that might or might not work with it, using Isildur RB,
Alcarin, and Ingold as starters, and GoG, Aragorn CoG and Turgon as other comps. It is possession and fortification heavy, and the idea is to be strong enough to take most minions on, and to use Fourth Level + Gorn's Bow, or Gondor Bow or Men of Numenor to eliminate some of the bigger threats. There is a little healing in the deck as well. I'm not sure how well it'll work in Movie, but I'll give it a shot.

Thanks for the help...
