I would like to find a more interesting theme than SMF's default. Here's one that I'm trying out.
Do you like it? If not, why? Colors? Layout? Don't like change in general?
If so, anything you would like to see improved? (For example, I think the unread posts indicator, pen and parchment, could be made a little clearer)
How about the little logo in the upper left corner? Took a bit of time, but I can change it.
Note that you can always change your theme preferences by going to:
Profile-->Look and Layout Preferences-->Current Theme.

I don't like the theme, but since I've changed my theme to the original theme, I don't care if its default. The LotR theme is better, IMO, if you could just tweak those annoying forum Icons it would be awesome.
-
Dunno... the gradients are way overdone. Very distracting, and I think the contrast between the text and background could also be better.
Bottom line: It's slick and in-your-face, but when it comes to forums I prefer readability first. ;)
-
Some of the gradients removed... is that better?
-
Could we maybe get it so there's more difference between forums with new posts and forums without? There doesn't seem to be much difference at the moment. Other than that, I like it so far.

Are you talking about the pen-and-parchment icons, or something else?
EDIT: I played with them a bit. Let me know if you think that's better.

Haha, not as crazy. I'd really like to use this, but it still strains my eyes a bit--maybe I'm just getting old. ;) For example maybe a slightly lighter background for the posts, darker text for the board descriptions, and white backgrounds for the text boxes in the new message form. Definitely would prefer to enter black on white instead of black on a darker blue-gray.
And if I can throw in one more suggestion before getting smitten, maybe a reddish tint instead of a darker gray to flag new posts. Right now they look very similar.
But nitpicky tweaks aside, I think the headers and new-post icons look awesome. Much more interesting than the default SMF theme.

My only "complaint", if you can even call it that, is with the Hobbit theme. The title and squiggly line and all have never lined up right at the top.
But that hasn't kept me from using it.

Thanks for the tips, ES! How does it look now?
The Hobbit theme could probably be fixed... it just doesn't seem to fit with TLHH in general. Shire vs. Elves...
-
True enough, but it's definately very LOTR-ish. :)

Can't argue there! :)

Aye, good point. Also, I can't distinguish between text and links, because of the colors used. That's a slight issue...

OK, should be a bit better now. Links are the default blue.
-
I must be missing something... my theme never changed.

Go to Profile-->Look and Layout Preferences-->Current Theme-->Change. Choose "forum or board default."

Odd...they still show up as black for me.
-
I'm already used to the old default. Plain hues of blue, basic layout. Nothing fancy. No matter what the forum changes to, I will stay with this and nothing else.
-
I think the theme is pretty decent...good work Kralik

Try refreshing the main board index.

I don't mind which you have as the board default, but I have to say that I still prefer the SMF theme.

The new default is ok, but I prefer the original. :D

Some like, some don't... any objections to leaving it as default since you can choose your own theme anyway? Thanks for the suggestions for improvements.
