Like always, just played another great game with Manuel and, like always, i lost!

But i'm happy that i didnt made any big mistake (at least that i noticed) i just was a bit unlucky on draws (not that i can blame only that for my lose) and played against nothing less than the Middle Earth TCG World Champ 2009!!!

Anyway it was nice to back to LoTR tcg! hope to play more nice games in this tourney!

Welcome back, TheJord: If you want to participate in YOUR Tourney, you would face Ringbearer in Movie, and you would get a FREE in Standard. Just let me know to update the lists.

We have missed you! I hope, things are fine,

Please finish undecided games by end of this weekend! Players loose interest if this is that exerting. This first round is now open for nearly 2 weeks more than decided.

If there is still a open game at Monday morning - participants will get 0 points! In case, opponent does not answer - he gets 0 points too.

I am sorry for these harsh words - but this way, we can not continue.

I am happy, that Pepin is willingly to support me from now on.

So, have a nice weekend - and we will see us in round 2 at the start of next week.

best wishes,
Elrohir

By the way - I have lost track  >:( I am not sure how to handle all these frees and canceld games.  :'(

I agree with Elrohir. If we don't keep things moving, the tournament is going to stall. I suggest one week per round.

Ive come to the conclusion that its hard for me to plan a game with someone outside my timezone. I havent seen bombardil online the times i was, which were many as you know. So the chance of playing whenever I find time is also not an option. That makes me not the best Tourney player. Therefore I am willing to forfeit the game and give my win to Bobmardil....
I am looking forward to dropping in to tourney games as a ref or spectator....

I deeply apologise for the inconvenience.

Greeting Mc Tono

Title: Re: TLHH Grand Summer Tournament results
Post by: Pepin The Breve on September 26, 2009, 04:46:14 AM

I agree with Elrohir, one match per week and if one of the sites don't reply it is an auto-lose.

So, for movie block, we have:

  First Round:
- Pepin X Manuel = Manuel won (will not happen next time  :D)
- Gil- Estel X Alkarin = Gil-Estel won
- Malachi X Sweet = Malachi won
- King X MuabDib = Waiting for result...
- Ringearer = Free (if Mc tono go out the tourney i guess we can put Bombadil or Enola, the one left gets the won by bye - if McTono stays we can set up RB X Enola and Bomba X McTono)
- Kralik X Legolas = Kralik won

We need to know who wants to get on the tourney! Even that we have busy times (i was away from gccg for a couple of mounths) we should have time to play one match or two in a week.
Title: Re: TLHH Grand Summer Tournament results
Post by: Kralik on September 26, 2009, 08:28:10 AM
Hmmm... has anyone seen Bombadil on recently? I've seen McTono - I think that given a week's time span, two players should be able to find some time that works for both of their timezones.

What about RB vs McT?

Mctono, if you can PM with the hours you have free, we can try to meet. Anyway, ill try loging in gccg some times and look for you!
Hope we can play, And sorry for the mess everyone.. Our PMs werent clear I think...

Ok, i just sorted out round 2 and heres what i got.

- Kralik X King (the double K battle)
- Malachi X Legolas
- Alkarin X Muabdibb
- Pepin X Gil-Estel
- Manuel X Ringbearer (that is an ancient GCCG battle...)
- Sweet - Bye

i didnt made any special pairing, jut throw dices until found matches. If someone doesn't like (the way pairing was made not the opponent sorted  :D) it let me know and we can arrange another pairing.

Lets start as soon as possible!

Pairings are done having players with similar Tournament Points play together, not just randomly. This is done for a number of reasons. After the 1st round, Tournament Points are left like:

Gil-Estel 3 TP
Manuel 3 TP
Malachi 3 TP
Ringbearer 3 TP
MuadDib 3 TP
Kralik 3 TP
Pepin 1 TP
Alkarin 1 TP
King 1 TP
Sweet 1 TP
Legolas 1 TP

Ok, There has to be, for example, some randomness in selecting which player with 3 TPs plays which other player with 3 TPs, but that's all.

Seems to me like these new pairings for Round 2 are done wrong, since there are several players with different TP total playing each other. If you need help to do this, just ask, but please don't just do things wrong and go ahead... :/

Title: Re: TLHH Grand Summer Tournament results
Post by: legolas3333 on October 12, 2009, 01:20:22 AM
I say we just do this round with Pepin's pairings and then next round do it by Tournament points since there is an odd number of both players with 3 points and players with 1
Title: Re: TLHH Grand Summer Tournament results
Post by: Ringbearer on October 12, 2009, 02:39:34 AM
DOesnt work like that, a new pairing is easily made. Almost all 3TP plays a 1 tp. Thats not correct.

It does not matter anyway that much - as there are 7 rounds. So each player has to face nearly all participants - or we enhance amount of rounds.

Hope, I did not miss anything  :-k.

so, things stay as they are, I would say.

I have very few time left nowadays. I try to do pairings for standard today. Please, pm if anything in organisation is wrong (again).

As I see things by now, Pepin has done all well.
Kind regards and see you  ;D,

Elrohir

Unless all participants are guaranteed to play each other over the course of the tourney (increase the ammount of rounds) then Manuel/Ringbearers way would be better.

I am happy either way though.. More interested in seeing the standard format round 2 match-ups. :)

If you plan to have everyone playing each other, then it would be 10 rounds... I didn't know we were doing a tournament like this. In fact, I thought we were using the swiss system, which was used in every LOTR tournament back in the day. In the swiss system, a tournament with 11 players requires 4 round. However, I might have missed something, of course!

Anyway, unless every player is facing each other (1o rounds) then pairing matters. Honestly, I just don't get why are we doing it all wrong when it's all so easy doing things right. Then again, I offer myself to do the pairings.

Cheers,

Manuel

Hm, Swiss sytem is what I thought before. And, btw, I did not have seen that we have already 11 players - I have missed that.

Well, I have caused a mess. I will open new proclamationcorner for lists and results, and another one for palyer adding their results and discussion.

Again, sorry

Hi folks, in fact i usually do the swiss pairing and i usually ask someone to help me pairing to get a better sort of the matches. I tried to enter two or three times in gccg and no one were there to help me out, so like the tourney was going very slow i feared that player would lose interest and it goes down so i just made simple pairing cause that is what i could quickly made alone.

I just tried to help since i entre the last time in the tourney and i i'm not aware of all the rules. What can be made is: cancel the KK matchup result and if they ever cross again in the tourney Kingy will be automaticaly considered the winner.

I will search here to see if i can find the tourney rules somewhere. I usually register decks that i want to do some testing in tourney, cause that usually means i will play at least one game per week against the best decks around, but i'm most playing like 1 game in 2 or 3 weeks so next time i will think about test them in gccg and incribe already tested ones in the tourney  ;)

I know that is not always easy to set a game between different times zones, but i guess its also not that hard. i don't find Kralik at GCCG very often but he arranged his tourney game with King very fast.

Anyway i apologize again (specially to King and Kralik) for my rush. We wait for Manuel's pairing and then we can proceed to next round as soon as possible.

  Cheers.

Hi, I beg you all pardon - and thanks to Pepin! I started a new topic to look for pairings and results / list. Please keep discussion going on here! Otherwise, the "pairing Topic" get hard to follow quickly.

About tournament:
A loss is considered to be 0 points, FREE to be 2 points, and win to be 3 points. Shall I change to 1/3/3 ?
Title: Re: TLHH Grand Summer Tournament results
Post by: Manuel on October 12, 2009, 06:23:25 AM
Decipher rules stated that a win was worth 3 TP, a loss 1 TP, and you would get 2 TPs for a timed win. Byes (FREE, or whatever you call it) is worth 3 TPs too.

Actually, it was more coincidence. Logged in, saw King, asked if he wanted to play right away. :P

But has a decision been reached by (insert official tourney directory here) on whether to create new pairings or not? I see the topic by Elrohir retains the 3 vs. 1 pairing issue.

Ironic, because King remarked when we started the game that I must have lost the first round to be paired with him. :P

Well, first match of Movie Block 2nd round: Pepin X Sweet

Result: Pepin won (after get badly beaten by sweet shadow  ;))

One issue: i acidentally deleted the deck registered for the tourney (i modified it and forgot to not delete the older version cause of the tournament). I have one very similar and i made "backwards" modifications to make it equal that it was before. I'm willing to concead my eventual victories since i know this go against the rules, i would like to play it just for fun anyway (and to see what more i can improve).

In my opinion, the LotR tourneys should be run with NO MORE than one week per round. Otherwise it just fizzles out. If you can't play at least one game a week, maybe the tourney's not for you...?

It seems like this has averaged 3+ (maybe more, just estimating). Slow slow going... :(

It means you have a WEEK to arrange something that works for both of you... via PM's, Instant Messaging, whatever. If you are always on and Manuel isn't, then you should get the bye. Or... if your opponent isn't responding to your requests.

/me does a quick check.

Manuel hasn't been on GCCG since October 13th. I'd call that inactivity for sure (2 weeks+).

The fact that I havent logged into GCCG doesnt mean I havent tried to play this game. In fact I messaged my opponent right when it was announced that we had to play, trying to arrange a given time, but in the end it was more like "see if we can find each other in MSN", which hasnt happened due to timezones (and yes, I have logged in there several times...) and because I rarely have time to sit in front of the PC and see whats going on. Usually I prefer to arrange a given time and make my best to be there, but this time we opted for the msn option, and that was a very bad mistake by me.

I agree that every round should have a deadline. If players havent reported their result by then, one of them should forfeit, or just call it a draw. I will try to play these games ASAP, but then again I strongly recommend announcing a deadline, even if it's more than one week, but it's something.

I apologize for the delay in my games, will try to do my best to stay online.

Will the pairings of round 3 change now due to different points? or have they been done randomly anyway?

Kralik won. :)

Go on!  :book:

It was a dark and stormy night... Gil-Estel huddled in a corner with his computer furiously trying to outwit his opponent, all to no avail. He reached for a handkerchief and wiped the sweat off of his brow. And then suddenly...!

It was nothing like that.

It was a grey day in the middle of November. Did some improvement on my house, went out to get a haircut. All was well. All of a sudden, some foreigner called Kralik, challenged me for a game of LotR. The gentleman I am took up the glove thrown at me and prepared for a proper game of lotr.
Well since we are talking about tournament material, I won't get into details, but it was hidious. If there are Rules of Engagement, this Kralik dude has no knowledge of them....

Haha..no sorry. He won, fair and square.

BTW I did won my game vs Elrohir, the lamest game in Lotr history I guess....
