No, as you play your starting fellowship before your have Fellowship Actions. Same as Eowyn, Lady of the Mark.

True story.

Only way you can reduce the cost of stuff in your starting fellowship is with characters that say on them; while in your starting fellowship/each other companion in your starting fellowship.../while you can spot... etc..

Nothing that has a phase action. The game has not begun so there is no phase.

Yes!!! You can have a hobbit other than Frodo as your ring bearer, for example, Sam, Bearer of Great Need. Then you can have Frodo as one of the companions, because his twilight cost is zero! For example, reluctant adventurer, weary from the journey, Mr. Underhill, or son of Drogo... I don't know if that's a GOOD IDEA, but it answers your question!!!

But then again...All of the cost 0 Frodo's say "Ring-Bearer" so maybe this won't work...

And it doesn't work. Frodo with the ring-bearer gametext can only be used as a ring-bearer. The other Frodo, Frenzied Fighter, costs 2 and thus can not be used. The most common way is to start Merry, Pippin and Leader of Men, burn him with Saved from the Fire to get Sent Back, Powerful guide and another Gandalf card.

the other card should be radagast's herb bag

A much more peaceful way too get your Gandalf early is momentous gathering.

Your starting is Merry, itboh, Quickbeam, hoae (and, if no Hobbit ringbearer), Pippin, wobas.
Take any Ring-bearer you need for your special purpose for your deck (Gimli, Galadriel, Boromir, Faramir, Isildur, Sam, Bilbo or any Frodo). I suggest Gimli.

Play 4 Momentous gathering, Radagast the brown, Treebeared and Ents. If you use Gimli, add Dwarven Embassy!

I agree on the momentous gathering! Awesome card.

But I am unsure if you can start pippin, wobas with merry, itboh and quickbeam hoae ..?
The only thing I am unsure of is: Can Quickbeam's text be used to spot himself?

If it can than it's fine to start pippin, wobas but if it can't then you would have to start pippin, itboh if you wanted both hobbits to start. (or just use a frodo as your RB instead of using a pippin).

Based on the fact that if you want to start Durin in a dwarf deck you need a gimli RB + a second dwarf (usually Dain Ironfoot) then I would say that you can't use Quickbeam's text to spot himself.

#-o Muadib, actually you can not start with my suggested starting fellow... you are that right. So, either Pippin, itboh or Frodo Ringbearer.

The Idea behind wobas was to get rid of him.

Thank your for your Attention,
Elrohir

well...

my suggestion:

get an errata for Fredegar Bolger, Fatty: twilight cost 0 instead of 1 - and you could get Gandy PG in your starting fellowship... becuase that Hobbit does not deserve a twilight cost of [1] .

there is nothing more annoying than playing a deck with Gandalf cards - and I think you all know that no other culture got that much spotting requirements than the [Gandalf] culture; so what I mean is: if you play Gandalf not in a starting fellowship... your hand clogs really bad which will lead to a full loss! (you cannot play any Gandy possessions, hardly any condition or any event without Gandalf; compared to other cultures it would be enough to just spot a [Gondor] or [Elven] companion... but it is not enough to spot a [Gandalf] companion - it mostly has to be Gandalf itself.

And in Standard game (the world already tells us: this format should be standard) it is really hard to get Gandy out: there is no wizard is never late... boucing hobbits don't support momentous gathering... the saved from the Fire idea gives just to much pool and is bad for the rule of 9 because then you already have a dead gandy in discard pile: 3 for sftf, 4 for gandy pg, 2 for sent back, etc. plus site, plus comps = it's at least 15 pool or far more...

I really don't like this IMPOSSIBLE TO START Gandalf...  :'( - though he is the maybe best Gandalf of all sets.
