Advance Captain looked weird in the movie, but it is a solid enough picture on the card.
Was Cleaved in the movie? I can see his arm in front of his stomach. Elves don't have paunches!
Why Strength In My Blood? Does the foil make it look wierd? Or because he's kissing a dead guy? Because it is two guys kissing? I mean, you could make all sorts of swanky jazz, 8+ candles, red silk sheets jokes, but what it really comes down to is a damned useful card.

but only if you're playing age's end, which is another reason why I think wtg 's text should not be conditional

SIMB could be used in many decks! I think that Aragorn is fine the way he is, otherwise he would cost [6] for what you are getting.

no way, compare him to thorongil. str 10, ranger, and the ability to exert minions during the maneuver phase. if wtg text was always active, he would be just as good as thorongil. that is what bothers me the most. They made thorongil first and then wtg. frankly, that is a step backward if you ask me.

Thorongil is conditionally a strength 10. Well-Traveled Guide is conditionally an archer, defender +1, etc.
Is Thorongil better? Probably, but everything in Hunters was ridiculously better than everything else.
Think about going from Aragorn, Ranger of the North to Aragorn, Wingfoot. Or Legolas, Greenleaf to Legolas, Fearless Marksman. FM has his purposes. So does WTG.
Take Sam, Son of Hamfast against almost any other Sam (except BoGN and GEw)...Companions aren't always supposed to be better than their previous version just because they are new.

perhaps but i still think wtg's text should always be active. largely because he was the last aragorn decipher made. he should have gone out with a much bigger bang

"It is the last one so it should be the best..."
In all respect, that is the worst logic I have ever heard. Aragorn +Armor +Aragorn's Bow is [6]. That's not including the defender +1 which would be consistant with his gametext.
I guess I am just miffed that you are saying that "because it is the last Aragorn, we should create an over-powered Aragorn that everyone will use that is more powerful than an already over-powered Aragorn that everyone currently uses." If you didn't take Aragorn, Thorongil into consideration, which Aragorn is the best? There really isn't one you can pick because they are all nice in certain cases. But if you throw Thorongil in the mix, well, he's closest-to-unanimous as the best 'Gorn. So if you wanted to create a new Aragorn just to be better than Thorongil because it is the last one...well, I don't think that is very fair at all. Want him to be strength 8? Play hunter minions.
On the subject of Pippin, I would say that every Pippin looks comical. I think that is basically the character. I think that Merry, Noble Warrior looks funnier because he is making a face.
