Does Stern words let you return it to hand after you reconcile or before?
eg. Nazgul rings let you return bearer to hand after you reconcile, so you can have 9+ cards for your next turn..
Is stern words the same or do you return it to hand before reconciling?
-
You would take it into hand after reconciling
-
That is awesome then!
So every turn you could play 4x stern words and not get choked from them at all.
End your turn with 12 cards for the next shadow phase... This sounds pretty good to me.
I always thought that there would have to be a negative effect for this card.. Maybe not.
-
Well, let's say you play 4 cards in your next Shadow phase, and have 8 cards in hand. You could still choke...
-
As Kralik says, 4 cards after you Shadow reconcile will be Stern Words
-
Oh yeah I see.
Thanks guys.
Maybe I'll re-think putting 4x copies in.. 1 or 2 could be nice though.
-
wait, I thought you couldn't have more than 8 cards in your hand at one time
-
Not true, as that would make cards like Ithil Stone and Bent on Discovery pointless. When you reconcile, you always end up with 8 cards in hand
-
2 stern words is the max for me... same principle as G for Grand
-
Not to forget Isildur, Heir of Elendil for the mythical 9th card! 8-)
-
Heir of Elendil is a seriously underused cycling gem
-

I'm all about the G for Grand! x4 all the way
-
Combine Isildur, Heir of Elendil, Stern Words, Ithil Stone, AND Bent on Discovery and start keeping a hand of 12+ cards.... ;)
-
Then I play Man of Bree
-
Then I play Man of Bree
Aiiieeeeee!
Well, but assume all Stern Words are replayed and some other Freeps cards to boot.
-
imagine this... 4x g for grand, 4x stern words, and 4x mountain homestead XD +20 str too all your dwarves if there are no burdens
-
and i say... Tempest of War + Our Foes Are Weak!
-
That's the nature of the game. No matter what you do, with a few exceptions, there is always a way around it.
