Alright so it's been a while since I played LOTR and while I remember having fun with it, I never got very much into it. (as always I seem to be in a wasteland for local players). I've been devoting some time to SWCCG and then I thought, "Maybe I should go back and look at LOTR."
So here I am. I need some general ideas for decks that promote ease of learning. I'll be building two seperate decks (and logically they could be the same, but they don't have to be), with the sole purpose of learning to play as well as teach some local friends about it.
I'm sure this game isn't terribly hard, but I haven't taken the time to learn every card (like I did for SWCCG).
Help me out if you can!
Thanks.

Well, I recommend Movie Block (sets 1-10). If you pick up a pair of RotK starter decks, that would be a great start.
Easy decks that aren't rare intensive are Ents, [Isengard] Orcs...

ents are the ultimate beginner's deck, the only rares that could be needed are Huron and Ent Draught, you could go with the unbound hobbit variety ents for movie block, it can be modified so it's rare-free
[Gandalf] Ents
32 Cards
Frodo, Hope Of Free Peoples
The One Ring, Any version
Merry, Rohirrim Squire (Starting)
Pippin, Sworn To Service (Starting)
Quickbeam, Bregalad (Starting)
Ent Avenger x4
Host Of Fangorn x2
Bounder x3
Hobbit Sword x2
Boomed And Trumpeted x4
Roused x4
Long Slow Wrath x4
Ent Moot x4
Brooding On Tomorrow x2
Working from memory, so there could be better cards, but I'm pretty sure they're all Common/Uncommon. It introduces the basics in the game, Events, conditions, possessions, threats, initiative, condition discard, allies... on that same note you could do it for [Isengard] orcs or a rare-free moria swarm,
[Isengard] Orc Wounding
34 cards
Isengard Retainer x4
Isengard Plodder x4
Isengard Tinker x4
Isengard Artisan x4
Isengard Servant x4
Isengard Retainer x4
Isengard Worker x4
The Trees Are Strong x2
Gnawing, Biting, Hacking, Burning x4
this is an ok deck i guess, you get regroup actions and minions stacked on conditions, but my favorite shadow for beginners has been a rare free moria swarm
[Moria] Swarm
40 Cards
Goblin Runner x4
Goblin Sneak x4
Goblin Backstabber x4
Goblin Scrabbler x4
Goblin Wallcrawler x4
Goblin Warrior x4
Moria Scavengers x4
Goblin Scimitar x4
Host Of Thousands x4
They Are Coming x4
Basic moria swarm, you have the card drawing engine, the minion from discard pile engine and the twilight engine.

Thanks for the comments!
BTW, does anyone have the old PDFs that Decipher put out just before the game came out? I think they were made for people to try out the game. I think I printed them off a long time ago, but now I can't seem to find the old documents.
Just wondering if anyone has them to aid in teaching :)
