Title: The challenge met
Post by: jdizzy001 on November 08, 2009, 04:50:21 PM
Here it is, 3 sets of age's end and 55 bucks later, I have made a 3 hunters age's end deck.  It is fun.  It isn't super powerful and relies on shadow support, but I did it!

mere of dead faces
west gate of moria
caves of aglarond
expanding marshland
the prancing pony
doors of durin
the bridge of khazad-dum
dammed gate-stream
neekerbreekers' bog

30/30

The Great Ring
Frodo, Little master
Gimli, opinionated guide (start)
Legolas, skeptical guide (start)
Aragorn, wtg

mithril-coat (2R105)
sting, elven long knife
cast it into the fire x3
sword of the fallen
strength in my blood x4
that's two x4
gimli's battle axe, trusted weapon
salt from the shire x2
confronting the eye
the faithful stone x2
dwarven bracers
hand axe
aragorn's bow, ranger's longbow
rabbit stew
anduril, sword that was broken
prized lagan
still twitching (This card I think should be traded out with gimli's helm.)

shadow
watcher in the water many tentacled creature x4
dark places x4
strong tentacle x4
huge tentacle ( I know I need more, but I only own 1.)
reaching tentacle x4
The balrog, demon of might x3
whip of many thongs, weapon of flame and shadow x2 (once I get more huge tents. I'll swap these out.)
foul tentacles x4
foul things x3
evil-smelling fen

bid 0, you don't want to go first.  get them on your site path.  Play pony as your site 3 so you can pull gorn.  use the watcher to make sites marshes.  discard tentacles like mad and play them later with watcher's text.  The 2 times I used this deck in a game, I over whelmed the rb at about site 7.  As for fellowship, take it easy.  Use that's two to get rid of annoying cards and be annoying with cast it into the fire.  Add threats with lego or gorn.  Remove threats with long knife.  This deck is real fun.  Gimli is grima proof because of his text, and you can spread your strength in my blood across the fellowship.  If you know your opponent won't grima you, you can stack them on aragorn to make him str 14 and damage +5! You could also stack them on gimli for a str 15 dmg+2 dwarf.  as I said, this isn't the strongest fellowship in the world, but the star of the show is the watcher!

you really need better threat removal if the freeps is gonna work, i suggest hearts raised or an into the west/ still needed combo

hey, the into the west combo is clever, I never thought of that.  I could drop cast it into the fire and replace it with the still needed and into the west

The only part of his text I'm worried about is the fellowship keyword.  If things get tough I'll kill off lego and gimli then use his text.  By then I'd have his sword and a few str in my bloods attached to him.  The only reason I don't start wtg is because I don't want to fill up card slots with extra gimlis and legos, that is, unless there is a card that will pull those 2.  Do you know if there is one?
