On November 29th, we were 17 (including God) at the same time on GCCG... I think it's time to add more tables.
Right now, we have 4 playable tables + 1 solo table. That means we need 4 more tables, just in case all those 17 players wants to play. Keep in mind that the community is growing.
-
It would be good, every table was full today and there was about 6 players waiting around.
-
"Community is growing." There it is... Something great to ear! ^^
What would be really good, is a draft system to support a couple of players to draft some lotr :D Now THAT would be an amazing way to go! And it could lead to a very very very worthy league! ^^
-
GCCG does have a draft system, but I'm not sure exactly how it works.
Best PM or email wlk for the tables. Last I checked he said the server bandwidth was limited... but you have a compelling point. 17?! Wow!

Can someone please explain the solo table to me? Is it just intended to practice how your deck might work out. You don't actually have an opponent right?
I guess the answer is obvious - I just want someone to confirm it. :)
BTW - i finally got a chance to play another game and logged onto GCCG only to find noone there :'(

Where is the 4 player table?

1 player table serves that purpose indeed. To see how well your deck draws and such. You can practise, and see if your deck is any good. For example that the amount of twilight you throw out each turn, is worth the risk. For example, if you make pool but end up with 2 starter comps of 6 strength each, a single enquea or attea would cause some serious damage.
In that second case you were unlucky, lately there are a lot of people. Most European though I guess.
-
My favorite thing about the one player table is that I can spread out cards I am considering for decks and actually look at the proportions, rather than reading a sheet of paper.
-wtk
-
And it is a great way of explaining decks to others, for example inexperienced players.
-
The one player table does have it's uses, granted, but I'd much rather have another 2 player table as it is happening more and more that there are no free tables (which is great if you consider it) Also, the 4 player table is probably not used as often to warrant it's regular existence. Is there a problem with having at least 6 2player tables?

haha, it took me long to change my starting fellowship in the early days - Arwen, Elven Rider and Haldir :P

What is the maximum number of table we can have?
-
My guess is it is related to bandwidth and speed of server ?

I think they should put the 4-players table back... I played 2 games recently on it and everyone enjoyed it. The other day some people wanted to play a 4-players game but couldn't because the table disappeared.
If it's impossible to add new tables, I think they should swap the 1-player table for a 4-players table.
Honestly, I consider the 1-player table to be less useful than the 4-player one... Multiplayer games give a unique experience. The 1-player table is only there for practice purpose... Honestly, I've never used it... I don't want to practice, I just make a deck, play it vs someone then make some corrections. It's just a game so I don't mind being destroyed in the first game I try a new deck.
-
Yeah 4-player games are great
-
The 1-player table needs to stay: It is the perfect environment to test code changes. Also, it is helpful for new players to mess with the interface.
-
Emperor Kralik has Spoken...I really start to suspect something is being wrong here. Like the chancellor his words seems to be filled with wisdom, but what lies beneath? I keep a close eye on you, a very close one......

That sounds logical.

I haven't seen the 4-players table in a while. I'd like to see it again.

I also wanted to play gcc, but don't have the commandcodes and don't quite understand it. So if somebody please could help me through [-o<

I am not sure if you just need help to play, or to install. So. this is an email i just sent to a friend which might help . It has important info taken from all over the place might help get you or anyone else that is interested started:
Zorbecs is used to design your decks. Good resource as it has text for errata cards and also lets you know if your finished deck is legal for various formats based on the banned and restricted list. It is good for designing decks for use on GCCG. Link:
http://eric.minet.free.fr/dbdownl_en.htm
GCCG is used to play ccg online for free. you have to first install the software, then add the files for lotr, then register as a user. link:
http://gccg.sourceforge.net/
1/ Go to GCCG official site: http://gccg.sourceforge.net/
2/ Follow the instructions (download http://gccg.sourceforge.net/gccg_install.zip, extract)
3/ Run "Install LOTR.bat", to download and install the LOTR module.
4/ Wait for all required components to be installed
5/ Start the game with "Lotr.bat"
6/ If first time install and asked for, type /newuser myname and restart again.
7/ When successfully connected, quit and use "Install LOTR Cards.bat" to also download the card images.
And that should be all.
Now, on a regular basis, you might want to update the client.
Use "Update Everything.bat" (while client is not running) to check and install updated components.
Create account:
You must set your user name. Just type /newuser <your_name>"
Don't type the < > when you type your username.
Once installed and you have designed some decks - assuming you have not already - find someone online that will teach you how to play using the commands. There is normally someone available and willing. I am on from time to time and wouldn't mind helping anyone new out - i only have fotr block decks though.

I would also like to ask for the return of the multiplayer table. There are times when we have a good number of players online and it would be nice to play a 4 player game.
It also adds some nice variety. You can only build so many new decks to keep things fresh. Using those decks in a 4 player game would increase the replayability a lot.

I concur with the Neekerbreeker. I have yet to play a 4 player game. It would make for a load of different options.

Yes. The multiplayer table needs to return.

MD, Cwork, Ringbearer and I had epic games on there.

Nothing better than a site 4 multiplayer massacre.
-
I played a multiplayer game when FOTR originally launched where all 4 players had Moria Swarm for shadow. It was brutal.
-
Who is the person that we need to contact to have this 4-player table added?

wlk

I just PMed him. Get ready to play!

The funny thing in multiplayer games is that you start to add diplomacy and "when to kill" strategy to game and its reduce the probability that a freeps will walk freely just becaus his/her oponnent are having bad shadow draws...
Diplomacy? Thats right!
I play it once in a while with my firends and we spend some time convincing the other players to "keep this guy alive cause we need his shadow to stop the freeps of that other guy" or trying to convice other players to launch their evil combos on the one stronger freeps (well we usually don't do that when the best freep condition is ours).
It has some subtle changes in strategy also. I played a fellow game on gccg once and it was very funny! But i have to agree that 2 player games are more popular and need many tables...
