So, yeah. This is a elf dwarf discard deck. Not much strategy, other than go first most costs.
35 cards each side, 70 total
Sites (Not legal for most play, but my friends don't mind):
1: Plains of Rohan
2: Midgewater moors
3: Rivendell Valley
6: Lothlorien Woods
7: Silverlode banks
9: Emyn Muil
Other: Bridge of Khazad-Dum, Moria Stairway.
Companions:
Frodo, PBM
The One Ring, TRR
Legolas, SG
Rumil, BoH
Arwen, RM
Gimli, UG
Grimir, Dwarven Emissary
Orophin, Brother of Haldir
Thrarin, SoE
Naith Troop
Possessions:
Dwarven Axe x3
Conditions:
Dwarven Heart x2
The White Arrows of Lorien x3
Far-Seeing Eyes
Uncertain Future
Greatest Kingdom of My People
Events:
That's Two!
Ancient Enmity
Halls of My Home x2
Battle to the Last x2
Lend us Your Aid x2
Nobody Tosses a Dwarf x2
Forearmed x3
Cast it into the Fire! x3
What are We Waiting For?
So, Lend us Your Aid + Battle to the Last + Nobody Tosses a Dwarf, with Dwarven Heart to heal (and Grimir to discard the Dwarven Heart so it doesn't rack up the exertions, healing 3 wounds total) works well. Using Rumil's telepathy ability to look out for high twilight cards for Forearmed, along with making him an archer and able to use WAoL. It can also help with Naith Troop's game text. Uncertain Future is there if you need an elven/high twilight card at a critical point. Legolas can kill annoying minions when he has to, and Arwen can reconcile your hand as a substitute for UF. There's a good synergy in this deck, and the cards all work well together.
For the Shadow:
Minions:
Orc Warrior x4
Orc Slayer
Tower Lieutenant x3
Orc Ambusher x2
Orc Guard x3
Orc Inquisitor x4
The Balrog, Durin's Bane
Conditions:
You Bring Great Evil x2
Spies of Mordor x2
Events:
The Dark Lord Advances x4
Massing in the East x4
Hand of Sauron x4
Desperate Measures
No strategy with this. I would like to change that. Any advice?

Problems: I don't have 4 archers. I would sooner run 2 Far Seeing Eyes, despite not being able to play one. Why do you dislike ancient enmity?
Thanks for the advice on the bad side. It's too bad I don't have any of those cards, really :(
-
Oh, and why isn't it standard?
-
Thanks! I did not realize that TWAoL could stack effects. I'd rather sound stupid here than playing someone IRL, so I'll make sure I understand: 1 exertion on Legolas with 4 WAoL on him will discard 8 cards?
-
No, you just have TWAoL on multiple characters (limit one apiece) and exert x4, spread out.
Ancient Enmity isn't too bad if you know you will win skirmishes... I used to try it, but I realized it's typically safer to use the white arrows to discard the opponent's hand so that they have no pumps.
-
ket beat me to it. And this from someone who once said they couldn't see the point of TWAoL. ;)
-
But I only have... 2 archers. And maybe 1/2. Depends on whether or notOrophin is feeling up to it or not ](*,)
I think the second Far seeing Eyes (to ensure I get it earlier) is better.
And also, ancient enmity doesn't have any exertions involved. I may keep, I don't know. It's not like you can only play one skirmish event.
-
Oh yeah, this is the deck that can discard, like, 80-120 cards :) It's pretty awesome. It drops to like, 60, with Frodo, CH or Frodo, LM.
-
Or any minions in the shadow phase...
-
Yeah, I think my favourite game with this deck was the time I was at site 7, all exhausted companions, and realized I was gonna lose. Then I discarded the opponent's hand and deck in their Freep turn. I then took my double move unhasseled :)
-
Well, no cards I can think of that make the opponent discard cards from hand during Fellowship or Shadow phase, except the woefully terrible What Are We Waiting For?.
-wtk
Yes. Great card. I wanted to include that one esp.
-
Yeah, discard is so frustrating. I think it is also one of the most consistant strategies to win games with. You disrupt the opponents deck, thus making it unbalanced. It was great at start to play with, but when it is used against you, you run back to the good site :vader:

The problem with discard decks is that it sacrifices support cards at the expense of it's mill cards. So if you have Frodo, CH and so on, or Old Noakes, stuff like that, it falls apart.
