Title: LOTR TCG Solo/Solitaire Game?
Post by: UofLHoops on January 08, 2010, 12:42:01 PM
Hey everyone...I'm brand new to the board but I have been a collector and sometimes player since the game was released in 2001. Since I have nobody to play with anymore and would like to continue to play at least to some extent, I am wondering.....

Has anyone ever come up with a workable solitaire variant that effectively simulates a real game?

This has probably come up at some point or another over time, but again I am very new here, and a quick search of the board shows no topics for this subject. If this has been covered at length in another thread, I apologize.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Once, I have tried a Five - player game. It was difficult to follow and keep all the turns in mind for the right order, maybe you start a two player game. It works like in chess, if you switch white/black each turn. The problem is, you know always the strategy of your opponent...

But a lot better: Try GCCG, it is a programm, which allows you to play free with players all over the world. It makes fun to meet people, and friends. You can train your language skills, exchange news, chat, oh - and play with any deck or format you wish!

Well, I guess a single deck could player the role of both the shadow and free peoples. The twilight generated by your freeps could be used by your shadow..that sort of stuff. :)

I play games against myself all the time. 2 decks, lay them out, put one hand face up on the ground and the other not.

For playtesting I just lay two decks out on the floor. One fellowship strung out to the left, the other to the right, and the adventure path above. Both hands open.

I've been working on solitaire rules today and figure the best way to do it use one deck and use your twilight to pay for your shadow cards in your hand, only use like 7 sites. Seems to work pretty good so far.

A Dwarf/Sauron discard deck ought to be fun.

Not interested in playing online card games, prefer to play live, even if solo sometimes.  I do the same thing with the Game of Thrones LCG except I pit two decks against each other when I am not playing with my friends, good way to test out decks. Looking forward to the Lord of the Rings LCG that is coming out as it has been designed for 1-2 players.
