Title: My prize support from my meagre collection.
Post by: Kenddrick on January 22, 2010, 09:46:27 AM
While you guys were discussing changing the LoTR: TCG game system, I decided I was never ever going to support that if that happens. So I spent my time thinking on various other things.

I have thought that when the PDF starter decks are done and ready for release, I would go around and demo the game. And soon after, I would hold a tournament for casual play (any decks allowed, just enjoy the flavor of LotR and card games).

And then I thought of prize support. After looking through my meagre collection, I have managed to dig out certain cards that I have thrown into the "prize support bin". Here are the cards I threw in. I might throw in more within the next few days.

Current prizes in prize support bin:
-6 common foils from Set 1 - 8
-Narya, Vilya and Nenya (non foil).
-The One Ring, The Binding Ring (foil)
-Complete Tengwar collection for ROTK Anthology Box.
-A whole bag full of booster packet wrappers!

So far I've got 5 prizes. Yes, I know the prizes are #$&*@!, but bear in mind my collection is meagre. :(

What do you guys think? Feel free to contribute and post!

People who have played the game before would probably just want to play. People who haven't played the game would probably think, "Oh, cool! A copy of Nenya!"

Throw out the bag full of wrappers. That's an insulting prize.

Erm, complete common sets of sets 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 15
Uncommon sets of some of them

Well I think it'll be a fine booby prize.

Erm, complete common sets of sets 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 15
Uncommon sets of some of them

Hmm I don't have most of those cards either. My collection is very sad. :(

If you had PayPal and would pay for shipping, I would post you a long-box of commons and uncommons and..."less desirable" rares.

But posting a box to Singapore? I'm not that kind.

Edit: If I got a bag full of wrappers, I would throw them out. If you dug them out of the garbage and I "won" them at the next tournament, I would quit playing forever.

well for prize support in my area...

25-30 1-10 foils...
like 20 reflections rares, elven rope strands of elven hair and stuff, i realize we know those are bad cards but hey they're shiny!
complete common sets of 2,5,6,10,11,12,13...
complete uncommon sets 2,5,6...
10-15 RF from 11-13...
along with any copies of Men Of Harad, The Weight of a Legacy and Verily I Come that i get in my hands before the tournaments start...

I plan to start off playing a sealed deck tournament using resources from sets 1-3. I will look at using starters and a box of FOTR probably. I might even consider a FOTR draft box. Prize support will come from leftovers from the boxes. I will bring up the idea of local use of printable proxies and also discuss local use of printable proxies for errata from sets 1-3. If agreed on, there will be the possibility of prize support in the form or proxies - but it will all depend on how the local group feels about it.

Kenddrick - ket has made a very generous offer to give you some of his extra cards, but he would ask that you pay for shipping to Singapore. He is not wiling to pay for shipping costs as well (and fair enough).

Oh ok. But Ket if you do drop by Singapore, let me know, so we can meet. In the meantime, you don't need to send the cards over. The amount the bank charges to wire money over to the USA is crazy.

I think the box of booster wrappers is probably a no. I like the idea, but I'm going to have to agree with ket on this one. Even unusual commons and uncommons are better.

Yeah, I haven't agreed with a lot of Ket's posts lately, but empty wrappers really are a not-so-great prize.

I can ship a priority mail international envelope to Singapore for $13.45 - I don't mind sending you some stuff, but I don't know what exactly I've got that's "giveaway" kind of stuff, you know?

You should sign up for PayPal.com - there's no fees for sending money using that, only for receiving money.

Agree with Hawkeye. Paypal is great for sending money, and fees aren't too bad compared to other money transfer systems.

I am pretty sure you need a credit card to have a Paypal account and this may be an issue for some.

A lot overall? Or the three or so on this board?

You don't need a credit card. Just a bank account.

MD is correct. Routing number and account number. Of course, it is much safer to attach a debit card (and even more safe to attach a credit card)...
