Different.

Just noticed how much you paid for your NOLINKRoD foil, Fingolfinfinwe. I think that was a good deal! Wonder if this NOLINKRoD foil would go anywhere close to NOLINKAtAR.

EDIT - Holy smokes, that NOLINKAtAR ended at $125.34! (http://cgi.ebay.com/Lotr-Lord-of-the-Rings-tcg-One-Ring-NOLINKATAR-foil-rare-4R1_W0QQitemZ160253526999QQihZ006QQcategoryZ33052QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

Well, I paid $15 for my Ring of Doom Foil, but that's a good price it seems. Maybe $25?

The Atar I THOUGHT was worth about 60, but we just saw one go for over $125.  :o

Nah, anything to do with card prices/worth and trade lists / notices to sell / auction finds seems to fit right in with the Esgaroth Marketplace.

Anyway, there's another RoD foil selling! Wow, all these high-value cards are suddenly coming out of the woodwork.
Title: Re: Ring of Doom foil on eBay

Actually, I believe Maketplace is for conducting transactions, with other threads simply discussing values belong elsewhere.

I sure do feel the fool... I should have sold my AtAR foil instead of trading it off.
Title: Re: Ring of Doom foil on eBay
Post by: FingolfinFinwe on July 07, 2008, 10:00:16 AM
Well, the last one that went was only $39, so its hit or miss.

Actually, I believe Maketplace is for conducting transactions, with other threads simply discussing values belong elsewhere.
So basically: if I'm selling a card on eBay, it belongs in the Marketplace; but if I see someone else selling a card on eBay, it belongs in NOLINKBag End? You'd also have to bounce over "What's my card worth?" questions since some aren't transaction offers.

Makes more sense to me that if someone wants to buy a card or wants to know what it's worth, he'll head over to the forum where people are trading and selling.

I see your point, but I think that discussions like this very rarely go anywhere productive in gauging prices and usually end up turning into "look at that idiot selling stuff like that for that much" or "look at that idiot shelling out a fortune for nothing." Which belongs in Open LotR.

I've noticed that some people on E-bay will sometimes put an uncommon or common card up for sale, then advertise it as "rare."  I think that they believe that these cards are really hard to get a hold of *giggle*, and therefore, are rare finds.  *snicker*  Either that, or they're just trying to con money out of people, but they usually aren't successful in this.

I'm keeping a list of prices that cards are going for on E-bay, just for future reference.

Sry for the double post here, but does anyone know if there's anything on Ebay to stop a seller from using another account to jack up the prices of his/her auctions?

I'm not saying it definitely happened to me, but there was a card I bid up on and lost, only to get a "second chance offer" on it.  I had already paid the combined shipping for other of his auctions, so I declined.  One week later the seller reposted the card, and the exact same thing happened. I bid up and lost (exact amount actually), and then they offered the second chance again.  :suspect: This is on a good and rare card as well, so its not like alot of people wouldn't be willing to buy it.

Again, I'm not actually accusing the seller or anything (I accepted the second offer this time), I just was wondering if there's anything preventing sellers from doing this.   :-?
Title: Re: eBay finds
Post by: Shieldmaiden on August 31, 2008, 03:22:23 AM
There's nothing to stop them from shilling.  In fact, shill bidders help E-bay.  The higher the item goes for, the more fees E-bay gets to collect.  They have recently made it easier for shillers by hiding bidders' identities.  E-bay claims that this is to protect bidders, but I can't see what bidders are being protected from.  I, and many others on the E-bay forums, believe that E-bay is giving some protection to the shillers this way, naughty naughty.   [-X

The following is suspect behaviour:  Another bidder with a low feedback score starts bidding after you, and they have only bid on the seller's items in the past.  If the shill account wins the auction, you receive a second chance offer (as you have).

Your situation does sound rather suspicious.  Have you checked to see if the other bidder has bid on only this seller's auctions?

You can report shill bidders, with varying effect (to E-bay's credit, they do act on the more prevalent shillers):

Click 'report this listing' at the bottom of the listing page.
Chose fraudulent listings then shill bidding.
Add a note to say which bidder you think is a shill bidder.

I'm not saying that the guy you're buying from is definitely a shiller (I haven't even seen the auction you're on about), only saying that it sounds suspicious.  Good luck!

Oh, and stop driving up the auction prices!  I should be the only one bidding on LotR (just kidding of course)!   :P

Title: Re: eBay finds
Post by: swarmingUwithGoblins on September 01, 2008, 09:28:32 AM
Ive also seen this a few times as i sell a lot and buy a lot on ebay. I always get the second chance offer also but I never take it as usually the card is listed again right after the first one ends. I offer some people 2nd offers just because i have so many extras of some cards.
Also about the zero or low feedback buyers. I always email them stating that they should have a confirmed paypal address. If i ever smell anything funny i put them on a block list and cancel there bids. I dont think any of the lotr sellers that sell a lot have shill bidders. I know a few of them of a lot of emails and just chatting and im sure most wouldnt do anything like that to jack up prices.

Also fing would you mine telling me who the seller was of the cards you were buying from? I only know of a few that really sell a lot of lotr like sandtrooper, gandalfs cart,  and card_monk.
Title: Re: eBay finds
Post by: FingolfinFinwe on September 01, 2008, 06:06:07 PM
Yeah it was Sandtrooper.  That's why I said a couple times that I wasn't really accusing him/her, because I've bought from him/her a few times before and its been all good.  I think that it was just a coincidental situation.  But it got me thinking about shill bidders.

At the powerseller discussions they were telling me i should get my own domain and everything. So i already got one up and hopefully i will have a few thousand different cards. I might sell commons and uncommons in playsets if there is interest.
Man the only thing i wished was if lotr was still being made. Crossing my fingers that lotr comes back strong with the new hobbit movies in a few years.

So you are the one behind the repack auctions, and the big empty box.
There were subtle hints that I should have picked up on by now, I guess I haven't been paying attention.

Oversized multi-colored fonts.
Item descriptions that become increasingly more difficult to read as you scroll.
Implied excitement about every product.

Now it all makes sense

just some unc/c and a few rares. i listed the box of 1000 cards at the start when the bid was at 1$
The more money the more im adding. I have foil rings, DGMA foil promos, rares from everyset. I might even send 10 booster boxes or more. It all depends on the bidding.

They should at least refund your fees if they pull your auction.

I'm not suggesting this as a regular thing, but you could try a new thread in Esgaroth Marketplace using your Big Empty Box concept.

The idea would be the same: starting bid $1 and add items as the bids increase.
Disclose the end time/date for the bidding process, and then see what happens.
The only difference is that both you and the final bidder have the option to either agree upon the final result or walk away from it altogether, as opposed to being bound to the sale by ebay system.

In addition, you wouldn't have to use a Giant multicolored sales pitch or so many words.

Just a thought.  :-k
(and no I'm not encouraging him)
Title: Re: eBay finds
Post by: swarmingUwithGoblins on September 30, 2008, 12:23:57 PM
yeah that would be cool but i dont think the moderators of this site would allow such a thing. If they come in this thread and say its allowed then i will give it a shot. But the thing is everyone on this site thinks everything is so cheap. I would make probably 10x as much on ebay.

Like lets say i were to run this and start it at 1$ at 30$ some people on this site would expect to see 3 hunter booster boxes. Just not worth the stress.

I did list a sealed siege of gondor box for sell on ebay. I have a few more left that i will be listing.

Also I listed two 1000 count boxes of lotr foils, rares, unc, c and about 200+ cards are from sets the hunters and treachery and decit. Also rare cards too. And Foil promos and other stuff. So you can check that out if you want :)

It would be cool if we could have an auction forum or something on this site so we could all just buy from each other and bid from each other and avoid fees and such.

Not a bad idea, at least to provide the option.
Provisions maybe necessary to prevent an adverse impact on traders...maybe not.

I don't think there's been any scuttle about selling/auctioning in the general trading community.
As long as it doesn't involve soliciting or cascade into a monopoly effect...

Using the forum marketplace to buy and then resell is probably not a great idea, that's what ebay is for.
However if you have a surplus it would be a good place to post your goods.

Tue Jun 17, 2008 10:03 am
Well, I don't want to go into the story here, but unfortunately I have to part with my dear Aragorn 0P127 :'(

Due to circumstance, I cannot accept offers under $2000.

Yes, you read that right. After all, it IS the only one of its kind, right?

Well, make an offer if you're interested, pass on the news of this truly one-of-a-kind offering if you're not. As I said, I will consider offers starting at $2000, but I know that collectors in Europe will have an easier time paying more since the dollar is so weak right now.

Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to really, truly complete your LotR Promo Collection, as it is almost certainly never to be found again!

email me at XXXXXXXXXXX or PM me if you're interested, or just spread the word about this opportunity if you're not - thanks! "

I might have offered 1k for it but that would have been tops. I just started buying and getting back into lotr right at the same time this sold for 500$

It will probably never be back up for sale ever again since it was a one of a king :(

Also why was this card a one of a kind? was this guy an employee for deciper or something?

i got a list from him in a private message and there was nothing of any value in there. only a few rares. It wasnt worth 40$ or even 20$

Thats pretty bad. Not to mention he has (or had, if some sucker bought it) an Isildur's Bane selling for that price. Pricing competitively is one thing, ripping someone off completely is another. Heck, I got an Isildur's Bane for 25 cents
at a store in Annapolis once.

HHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLL LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLDDDDDDDDDDDDD DDDDDDD ON

EVERYONE!

I only did that to promote my store for the holiday season which is why i put all the high prices because people like to look from highest first. its only to promote my store and everything has best offers. i dont expect to sell a single card at those prices.

and i would like to pointout since opening up my store ive bought about 4k worth of cards  and have sold a little over 3k worth of cards back in the past 3 months. so with ebay fees im stuck in the hole 800$

But thats  fine. in my about me page u can see im doing this as a hobby. ive opened up hundreds of boxes and spent time making complete sets to have some only sell for 4$!

so dont ever accuse me of ripping someone off because if i sold all of those cards for 4200$ that would only pay for 2 nights out on the town here in vegas with my friends.  i dont need money and all this ebay work takes time from my real job. i do this for fun. i just want to keep lotr alive and i even offered free boxes if i get out to the live tournaments. I would never rip off somone. but at the same time im not goign to sell my 100k cards to anyone for 1$ either. I like running the store.

i will say again it was just advertising.

Ok, it was just kinda confusing.

On a related note, are you going to get more Hunters rares put up on your store and give them their own "category"?
Title: Re: eBay finds
Post by: swarmingUwithGoblins on November 02, 2008, 11:20:11 PM
right now i only have about ten. but in about a week im buying 10 starter boxes from my distributor so that will be 360 rares that i will be listing in their own category. i just bought and opened 50 booster boxes of different sets so i need a little break. from opening up things.
also if you purchase from me and i know your on this site i always give a discount.

Hey all, glad to see this messageboard here as I thought LOTR TCG all but dead!

I've sold a bunch of LOTR promos over the past year on eBay. Here's some of the prices I got for stuff for reference -- dunno if they would still be selling for that amount or not.

Watcher at Sarn Ford 0P129 $36 May 26, $78 Feb 17
Primitive Brand 0P128 $30 May 26, $78 Feb 17
Lurtz, Now Perfected 0P126 $30 May 26, $90 Feb 17
Aragorn, Swift Hunter 0P122 $30 May 26, $78 Feb 17
Legolas, Fleet-footed Hunter 0P124 $14 May 25, $17 May 21, $17 Feb 15
Keening Wail 0P96 $3 May 24, $2 May 22
Gimli, Eager Hunter 0P123 $13 Feb 15

Also, I remember during Gen Con 2005, picking up a Faramir, Prince of Ithilien 0P117 from Bojo at Decipher's booth (the last year they had one; it was tiny) and selling it on eBay that day for $70.  :o Paid for my registration...

I'm looking for 0P20 and he has it posted for $20... thats like 20 times its value

Woohoo. Just won 3x Goblin Armory, 2x BRC, and NPNS on ebay . Gave .99 for the NPNS, 3.25 for the 2x BRC, and 5.50 for 3x Goblin Armory. I hope I'm not excited for nothing and over paid for these card but all are great to have and I think I got a really good price for the cards .

I might be willing to trade some of these if it mean I can get some of my wants if anyone is interested in them when they arrive  :). If not I will gladly rebuild my Moria Swarm (with a few trades) and start on my Gimli RB with IB rangers deck .

How much are you paying for a Ros Booster/starter?

OK, I did my homework:
In my local store there's no Ros Boosters (sorry Fatty_Lumpkin).
However there are left:
* 10 Hunters unopened boosters for 12,000 each (which is about 5 dollars each).

Also (but I think those can be found easily elsewhere...):
* Lots of other boosters (but less than a box) of Bloodlines, Shadows and Black Rider.
All the pre-shadows expansions except Siege of Gondor.
* Starters of all pre-shadow expansions (except Siege of Gondor off course), and Bloodlines, Shadows, Hunters and Black Rider again.

PM if someone wants to buy any of those, although I'm not sure about shipping fees.

especially "powerful" cards like pull of the ring! lol...
the price of a 18O card always depends on which card we are talking about: a Beorning Axe (O) will go for much more then a Denethor's Sword (O).

Self promotion-->  I have listed several auctions that are ending soon.  A complete (nonfoil) Bloodlines set ends in 1 day and is at $20 right now.  Several promos and ROS Rares (and foils) end in 2 days and many do not yet have bids.  Some of the top rares listed include: Madril Masterwoks, Gorbag foil (hunters), Treebeard, Isildur (T&D), Theoden foil (T&D), Cermonial armor, almost complete D promo set, Gwaihir, Shadowfax, Faramir's Bow, Narsil, Grishnakh, Orkish Rider, Aragorn DoR, You do not Know Fear, 3 RoS Nazgul, Orkish Invader foil, and others.   Almost all of these cards are currently under $5.  Here is a link to one of the auctions: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=200355669552.

imo someone would have heard of these promos before now for them to be real.

Seller only has 1 feedback rating... although alot of nice cards are listed for auction, if anyone fom here wins any of these cards I would be very interested to know if they actually arrive.. especially the two 0D promos in question.

No. Very suspicious, no one heared of these two cards... May be they are as nearly rare as Aragorn, DoR 0P127. Does anyone else know anything about these cards?

Could not we ask Decipher for a complete promo list? If they appear on it, it would be fine  :uh-huh:

I asked the seller  a question about the 0D13 & 0D14 foil promos and he told me he got them directly from Decipher and assure me they're real.

Also, it must be hard to make some fake foil card... what do you think?

My opinion - this guy used to work for Decipher.  I know other games (Fullmetal Alchemist and 24 come to mind) have had unreleased cards leak out through former employees.  Hmmm, do we know anyone from Pittsburgh who used to work for Decipher...

Let's say I had 10 unopened packs of the Hunters. Realistically, how much could I expect to fetch for them on eBay (as a lot or apiece)?

I would prefer to trade them for the foils I need, but alas, no one really has them on the trading market.
-wtk
You would probably get quite a bit.. maybe something like $100USD+ for the lot or around $10USD per pack..But people could pay alot more than that!

Start your auctions cheap and I'll place a few bids. ;)

Beats me.. That is ridiculous though!

CCG obsession has him at about $33, which is also overpriced imo.
Maybe 0P15 was underprinted or something?

It is a terrible picture of Legolas aswell.

I believe the $120 0P15 is listed in the ebay store: Gandalf's Cart.  This store highly over prices almost all promos.  The only other seller I know that is as overpriced as Gandalf's Cart is geekgee (who is flooding ebay with auctions starting at $15+ for promos and bloodline cards and $25+ for nonfoil hunters block).

What's the going rate on sealed products?  I might be able to luck into some boxes of Mines of Moria, Ents of Fangorn, and possibly Bloodlines from a local guy who doesn't know what they're worth.  Would it be worth it for me to try and flip these or would it be better to just buy them cheap and have some fun opening them myself?
Title: Re: eBay finds
Post by: legolas3333 on November 16, 2009, 10:35:56 AM
hmm probably open the ents of fangorn and mines of moria but sell the bloodlines since they're worth more.

Post by: Bilbo the Hutt on November 16, 2009, 09:15:42 PM
I figured Mines and Ents would be fairly cheap, is there any interest at all for these?  I searched ebay and nobody's selling any sealed boxes from those sets, but that could just be that it's not worth the listing fees.

God sometimes I wish I lived in US. You guys there have all the stuff... cheap like the wind.

True story. This is a fact. I play magic nowadays but I buy all my cards from the states. Booster boxes are like $90 when theyre £90 here at least. And singles are 1/4 of the price. Either that or english companies start making some decent games instead of the states having the monopoly! But thats unlikely so i just have to make sure that airmail to England is still cheap enough to make it worth it (which it usually is) and bingo ive saved a fortune. Unless UK customs charges me vat like they did on my last 3 boxes of magic. #$&*@! my government. Bastards. £40 because I decided to not buy their rip off products.
Title: Re: eBay finds
Post by: Sete on November 18, 2009, 10:16:30 AM
Happened to me in my last 2 US orders... I payed like 90€ and the #$&*@! custom services applied a tax of 35€  :-k Wtf...

I'm still waiting for their reply about receiving a free gift from a friend in US... I mean, I'd like to know if they're gonna apply a vat tax at the gift or not -.-

lol Free global market is a bulls&#%... US will always have the best collectible and playable stuff... And we will have to keep paying this European abnormal taxes..

Actually I've found an awesome company based in Canada that sells PS3 games and Blue Ray movies among other stuff and they are quite tricky. Just to start, instead of paying 70€ for a new Ps3 game I pay 40€ and receive it 15 days before it even comes out in Portugal... They send all the orders to German/France/Belgium and from there they come to me... which makes my order tax free... Wish I could find a place like that selling cards XD ahahah

You guys are talking like the box is worth that! We all know its not. Even if it were the last sealed box, which it isn't, it wouldn't be worth $1000. This guy is merely hoping to fool someone and cash in. Not unlike people who post a rare foil and ask $200 for it. It usually won't sale, this won't either. This is just the only box on ebay at the moment. Patience.

They don't have anything for sale in their shop at the moment - that may not be a good sign. And a month is too long to wait - most international delivers i recieve to Australia take at most 2 weeks - and we are isolated from the rest of the world.

My advice would be to send them an email asking when it was sent, and if you hear nothing file a dispute with Ebay. If you paid with Paypal, you have hopefully paid enough to be covered by Paypal protection.

Do you have any of the foils I am looking for? That is the Question That Needs Answering.

(Not that I'd have anything you were interested in...)
-wtk

Once I could sell my foils for a -at that given time experienced by me- reasonable price. That was before I noticed there was a community that was willing to trade greatly for foils and such...I had like 100 foils orso, sold them in a bulk for 100 usd. Could have done better I guess

Both ATAR and SaWtC are foil very beautiful......

Having had all the foil rings at 1 point, Isildurs Bane and the common towers rings are by far and away the nicest looking. All the fire, and the text on the ring (on IB), foiled looks much better than just the ring on sawtc and the bubbles on atar.

"Free shipping", uh? Yeah, when you spent over 500$ for 11 cards that weight about 20 gramms, the shipping makes a really big difference, doesn't it? ;)
Title: Re: eBay finds
Post by: ununtrium on March 11, 2010, 12:20:46 PM
I would go for the 4C2 ruling ring. It is just covered in foiled flames that it almost hurts the eye to look at it. The other foil rings are not so impressive on their own, but as part of a foil set they somehow radiate coolness. It is hard to put your finger on it, but there are LOTS of foils that look much more impressive than the rings.

[examples to follow]
Title: Re: eBay finds
Post by: legolas3333 on March 11, 2010, 01:48:34 PM
the only foil ring i ever owned was 1C2, not a great foil.
Title: Re: eBay finds
Post by: putridbreath on March 15, 2010, 09:21:11 PM
Why are foil rings priced so high? Is it because they are a novelty item that people tend to hold onto/want more or is it because they are printed less?

that is what i don't get either: in the case of sealed product you basically paid 3-4 times the actual SINGLES price just to be the one who rips open the booster. Does not really make sense to me.

On the other hand, if you want to get your hands on a sealed booster for your collection, then that MIGHT command a premium for you. For example, I am very happy to have a sealed booster for each hunters block set and I will not open them ever. A sealed booster is as collectible as a normal card because of its wrapper design.

I coudln't do that, I'd always think: "Maybe there's a Gats in it!" or something like that. I can't actually keep Boosters closed for a long time. ;)

Personally, I'd check out buying up four of the Siege of Gondor foil sets on eBay for $45 each and see about the Mount Doom foil sets that are $40. Nothing is cooler/more broken than an all-foiled Corsair deck.

I agree, there are some sets (2,8,10,12) that are just so cheap, there's no reason (unless you just need a few cards) to go about collecting it, rather than buying it.

Craziness... to me.

Seriously.
I mean, you could buy a whole box of Treachery & Deceit for that.... =)

NO RARES? even with the Rares, I wouldn't pay more than, say, 20 US$ for each Starter (and I would buy only the Uruk one anyway), considering that you can't pull any foils from starters, but this is just stupidness over and over.

Perhaps his strategy is more psychological. Constant high prices could lead people to believe that they are worth more that they actually are.

Kinda noticed that the listings for cards has started to drop or something. The main listing place on e-bay LOTR Trading Card Games (http://toys.shop.ebay.com/Lord-of-the-Rings-/33052/i.html?_catref=1) had been carrying around 12 thousand to over 13 thousand listings forever. Now it has been hovering around 7 thousand for around a month. Must mean they are starting to get thin.... I would think anyway.
Title: Re: eBay finds
Post by: ununtrium on August 26, 2010, 07:15:13 AM
Could be. Wildthingsgames lists a lot less often and a lot less sets now than they did 1 year ago. It really seems like the warehouses are getting empty for good...

To support your observation, when I got into the game I checked German ebay extensively. I stopped doing that, though. There is hardly anything worthwhile anymore and there is always the same junk.

I hope I can fill my collection needs before ebay and the trade forums dry up completely. At least this site is going strong :up :

I hope to get mine too but it is going to take some time. I think the American economy has a little to do with it too, everyone or a lot are not spending like they use to. The masterworks and foils for the Hunters on up are very expensive lol. I can tell this might actually take a year or three. I hope to see this site stay strong and expand it would be helpful for everyone.

geekgee certainly has some interesting business models for sure.

A year or two ago I lucked into 3 sealed boxes of T&D and he bought them from me for like $1200+.
I think he's been trying to unload those packs (and maybe more that he bought elsewhere) through his "+Booster" auctions.

I don't know what kind of overhead he's dealing with, but I know that I would have trouble justifying all the money he is paying in listing fees for Unsold items.

That was confirmed the other week. AMFSOOK has one, and the last one to sell from weshipfreely was the second copy sold, as far as I know.

Edit: You'd think for that price a bubble envelope wouldn't be too much to ask.. XD

Edit2: Which of course makes this the 3rd copy of 0P127 out there, and I expect weshipfeely to pull a couple more out when they get low on funds..

I?m not sure about that. Maybe there are 100, like 0D13 or 0D14, but still, the fact that a foiled Defender of Rohan is worth like 45 - 50 US$ makes the card wotrh pretty much, even though there could be like 100 of those, I don't think it's price will go under 150 bucks. I just say 0P65.

From the seller of the current 0P127:

"Where it was bought is immaterial.

I know of 4 worldwide: one in my collection. One was sold on eBay for 500.00, first one I ever knew about, about two years ago. The third one just sold on eBay for 632.00 two-three months ago, or even less? The fourth one is this. of course, there maybe more, but not many more, I am convinced."

Still, I find it suspcious that he refuses to tell where he got it... and that he personally has two copies.

(besides price, of course) I suppose there are foils and/ or Masterworks included in the first set.

The fine print of the first set says it is missing seven cards but doesn't mention which ones.

I would say that suffocass is not including promos.  He as listed many overpriced auctions in the past including a lot of rares (all sets) and some ROS commons (only about 40 cards total) for $300.  This lot was listed many times.

The seller of the 0P127, is Radu Pitis of Canada.  I doubt it is a fake.  I have had many trades with him in the past though mahasamatman trade site.  I have also purchased from him off eBay.  As far as where he got it and how many he has, I have no clue.

Title: Re: eBay finds
Post by: ununtrium on September 02, 2010, 08:44:34 AM
I can also vouch for Radu as an ebay seller and mahasamatman member. Anyway, I think that there are several 0P127s out there, given out to dAgents and such. WTG may have hundreds stacked away, but many could also have been thrown away, like the oversized Decaren convention promo for STCCG 1E. There will be more 0P127s on ebay, but it will probably be a long time until you can get one for a somewhat reasonable price...
Title: Re: eBay finds

I too have done many transactions with Radu and highly recommend him.  I have traded with him multiple times, I have sold him stuff both on and off eBay, and I have bought stuff from him off of eBay.  In all situations he was a fantastic trader - always honest, good communication, and everything came as he described.

geekgee's list prices are quite high, I agree. However, off ebay she is very reasonable to deal with. I bought several RoS foils and other cards for not-so-crazy prices from her. I guess it all depends on whether you want to buy the flashy hunters block cards (DoR, Grishnakh, SoS, Gil-Galad etc.) or those rares you definitely need, if you play Hunters-only (land has changed, ceremonial armor, in the wild man' wake, spied from afar, gruesome meal etc).

BTW, there is a steady influx of listings from Poland which are quite good. Half of my collection stems from such auctions (... and I am only three MWs away from a complete Hunters block, including promos...).

Has anyone ever dealt with ebay member lp9364? Don't.  ](*,)

I am having real problems trying to explain to this idiot who won my foil ring lot, that there is no such card as 11R1 foil.

So just some advice to anyone who wants smooth transactions, do not deal with this person..

Fair enough, I left off the 'F' in my listing. An honest mistake, but not one worth this amount of headache. Please be aware to avoid dealing with this mong, just cancel any bids and block before your listings end.

Flood.

This new guy came with a lot of starters boosters, etc.

Maybe this will be of some interest to someone:

http://cgi.ebay.com/LOTR-TCG-Mines-Moria-Starter-Decks-Hunters-Booster-/390282397559?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5adea4c777

I, for my part, wouldn't buy this, as I don't care about foils or MW, and most of TH rares (except The One Ring) wouldn't cost me $25 (shipping to Chile is $10 for that thing).

Cheers guys!

Yesterday I stumbled across those auctions for some RoS & T&D booster displays still at a reasonable price on ebay...

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270689467925

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270689468072

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270689468765

Then took a closer look and... oh yeah right. What a bargain. Just empty boxes for over 80$ already and more than 24h to go  ](*,)

This selling strategy still seems to work out. There are always people not reading the auction text carefully before bidding...

That's totally ridiculous  #-o

At first I just thought it was bad english. But now I think you may be right. Looks like it's just empty boxes.

Here we go again!

well, I think the seller is banking on a desperate collector addled enough to spend that much cash on the 17O6. It IS the most-sought-after MW from RoS for some reason (people are willing to spend more than $250 for it on ebay...), but it is most likely a hype.

I tried to get this card lots of times, bidding most insanely, but this is opportunism at its coldest and worst.

The Eomer MW from Hunters was very sought-after for a time, but it has come down to an average Hunters MW price level since then...

$99 is expensive, but not out of the ordinary for Ebay postings of RoS/T&D masterworks.

I'm not sure what Geekgee is thinking... he posted that Theoden, Northman MW for $500 originally, then dropped it to $450, now it's reposted at a price of $799!  What the heck!?

It is extreme opportunism and an attempt to prey on people trying to complete their collections. I tried to win auctions for the 17O6, bidding insane amounts. geekgee simply goes by the completed listings results and at least doubles his price. Since the last couple of auctions for the 17O6 went close to or even past the $200 mark, that's the reason for these buy-it-now prices.

BTW, 17O6 is, as far as I know, just as often printed as any other RoS MW, so there is no reason to pay more for it than for a 17O1, 17O4, or 17O8.

Crazy times...

It is just that, over time, you lose all grasp of any REAL price levels. The more valuable cards, i.e. certain promos, hunters block cards etc, are not that often up for auction for $1, but people come across the inflated buy-it-now's, when they look for these cards all the time, and they start to get used to seeing these prices. That way, a 0P127 will sell for $400 in seconds! ... Think about it!!!! $400 for a non-MTG card!!! Only because a few people are stupid and gullable enough to pay that much for a couple of these cards!!!! It is not reasonable!!!

If you see something often enough, you start to believe that that #$&*@! is real! That is the problem!

Actually, I was able to get very decent deals from geekgee when the seller started out. I would win 1-2 cards and negotiate for more off-ebay and get good prices for the lot.

Sorry, folks! Rant over!

So they have collectors value but nothing else.  The card itself is mediocre to the last degree.  The only difference between that Gimli is that he has an extra strength and no game text.

Just bagged a set of the Hunters foils on ebay for $150 (best offer).

That makes it over $1,100 for the masterworks cards and a handful big hitting cards from the main set.

Hunters block cards are still overpriced on ebay as evidenced by those that are sold via auction commanding sell prices quite a bit less than the BIN sellers.

Most people seem happy to pay $35-$50 for an ROS or a T&D MW with a couple going for a bit more. Until sellers get that level of realism about their product then they will be holding their cards for a very long time.

I will admit that is why I waited until after the auction closed before I posted it here.  I wouldn't want someone stealing my precious.

That being said, there was another one that didn't get any bids.  I bet the seller would be open to an offer.

This is a full presentation set that was given to employees at Decipher, that is included in the binder. The binder was not for sale to the general public.

Definitely awesome - like a lot of people, I enjoy items that aren't available to the general public. I wouldn't pay $200 plus shipping from the UK to have it, especially since I'm selling all my LotR anyway, but I could see somebody else doing it, and maybe I would have if I hadn't decided to sell.

tl;dr: It's cool, I'd buy it if I weren't selling out.

Warning, eBay horror story coming up:

A couple days ago I started watching a lot of promos, 0P56-0P60. So yesterday morning it was still extremely low, but for some reason I didn't bid on it, I don't know why... Anyways, last night I played soccer for a couple hours and when I got home, I went on the computer for a bit before taking a shower. By the time I got out of the shower, the auction had ended and some lucky dude ended up with all 5 promos for $1.76... I'm going to be kicking myself over that for a while...
