Title: Dead Marshes
Post by: legolas3333 on February 15, 2010, 04:29:03 AM
can I play a second copy of Dead Marshes using it's ability or not?

I personally think not, but if I can, that opens some intriguing possibilities

I would suggest you cannot because of the wording of the game text. Had it been this I would have said yes:

Maneuver: Discard this condition to play up to 2 [Sauron] conditions from your discard pile.

Because discarding the condition is the last action, I would believe that you cannot due to rules regarding uniqueness.

Yeah that's what I thought too.

There goes my idea to discard all free peoples conditions with great peril of fire

Oh! Very nice thought though! And it is a very good thing Dead Marshes is worded as it is, then!

Even other than that, if it was worded differently, it would be an instant "play all of your Sauron conditions from discard"... which would be very bad.

Think of the possibilities with Orc Warrior! ;D

How would you heal Orc Warrior during the maneuver phase?

It's not so much the healing, but the free discards (i.e. no real condition cost). Use a 0-Twilight condition like Flames Within.

So your point is that even if you can't make an infinite loop, having Orc Warrior exert twice to discard the top 4 cards of the FP player's draw deck is already overpowered, correct?

Although personally, I think the bigger problem is that it gives you immunity to condition removal (not to mention the cycling benefits of being able to discard every [sauron] condition you draw, and then pull it back in the maneuver phase).

I do not mean to speak for Kralik, but Orc Warrior is one of his favorite cards (he seems to have many).

I suppose his implication was the ability to discard as many conditions as necessary and bring them back presuming multiple copies of Orc Warrior on the board.
