Again, not too thrilled with site path selection, so any advice is appeciated. The freeps idea was to use a bunch of elf stuff with comps from a different culture. Well it became a pseudo unbound hobbit deck. The neat thing is, all shadow events, conditions, and possessions are cost +2. There is some initiative stuff, some healing stuff, some discard stuff, and of course, wingfoot. The freeps works okay, but I usually lose 1 comp before the game is over. This is unacceptable. Either my fellowship should be slaughtered, or no one should die.
The shadow is my first attempt to make a dunlending deck... ever. There are better cards to use with a possession dicard deck, like that lame club, but I don't own a copy of it. Anyway, let me know what you think.

First of all, Merry Friend to Sam is the Merry.
I'll look at the rest later.

i forgot about him.

Okay, I don't really think this deck qualifies as being named "elves!" In fact, I would call this deck a pretty regular Dauntless Hobbits deck.
As for the free peoples, I think that Legolas, Dauntless Hunter works pretty nicely in a direct-wounding deck. Shadowplay, Unheeded, Pippin, Wearer of Black and Silver and Merry, Friend to Sam can put some wounds on minions during the Shadow phase and then let Legolas, Dauntless Hunter, a few Gondor Bowmen, and Eowyn, Lady of Ithilien mop up.
Aragorn, Elessar Telcontar is great for Gondor Bowmen and Aragorn's Bow support (and access to Might of Numenor) and Gimli, Bearer of Grudges gives you shadow card-discarding with Blood Runs Chill and more wounding with cards like Quick As May Be.
As for your deck as it stands, why not Elrond, Herald to Gil-Galad for some regroup phase healing, Secret Sentinels or Company of Archers (instead of The Seen and the Unseen), Might of Numenor, and a little more focus all around.

Your fellowship also needs more corruption protection. You have a low-resistance RB with only 1 copy of A light in his mind, that is not enough. Add Sam, SoH or choose a higher resistance RB or add another copy of a light in his mind.
Your dunland deck needs more good rare cards, like 2 more Hides. As you said, War Club is pretty important. Site control Dunland are usually better than what you play but it requires more rare cards. You should add Ulaire Enquea, LoM x2.
-
@ ket, HA! sure the deck can be called "elves!" it was actually supposed to be called, "holiday in elf country" but I decided to change the name. I forgot about company of archers, it is much better than the seen and unseen. As far as elrond goes, I've never used the set 10 elrond so I thought it would be nice to try him out. I also have a natural aversion to allies. Don't know why, cause they're great, but I just don't use them very often.
@ c-work: You know, when I built this deck, I didn't even think about burdens. I don't know what was on my mind. The dunland are definatly lacking, as I mentioned, my D-man collection is incredibly sparse. As for ulaire enquea LoM, he is a great card, but I hate his guts (do nazgul have guts?). He is beyond broken. No offense to players who use him in all their decks, but as for me and my house, we don't use him... okay that's a lie, I just tried to stay with the dunland theme without splash minions.
-
Shotgun Enquea, broken? No way! He is NEEDED to stop everyone from constantly playing huge fellowships.
It was somewhat lost in later sets, but one of the whole points of the game (and the twilight system in general) when it started in FotR is that if/when you have larger numbers, you bring more danger to yourself because you are drawing more attention to the company. This sort of flavor is why they produced cards that are quite powerful (Ex: Savagery to Match Their Numbers) based on Fellowship size.
-
i don't think they lost the flavor, we (as gamers) just couldn't take what decipher was dishing out such as the ever so popular frenzy of arrows. Decipher made a lot of good "spot 6 companions to do X" cards, or "spot a plethora of freeps stuff to do something wicked." I just think shotgun enquea is really annoying. It's because of him i run might of numenor in most of my decks. Then again, if you follow the rule of 5 you never have to worry about people like enquea. I used to be a rule of 5 thumper until recently. I don't know what happened to me but all of my decks are now 7-9 walkers. Not that you're reading this to see my LOTRTCG life-story, but there it is in a nutshell.
-
i agree with Jdizzy, Frenzy of arrows was fine how it is, one of the cool things about LotR is that there is a counter to everything you do and frenzy was the perfect counter to followers, just like greed and Shotgun enquea made people hesitate before putting in that 6th companion, now everyone just plays followers at will knowing there's no downside to it.
-
What a surprise. I'm going to side with Kralik. Ulaire Enquea, Lieutenant of Morgul is a necessary evil within Movie Block.
I understand how, as time passed, decks of Elven Armies or Knights of Gondor, etc., would be built to "march" to the Black Gate, but in FoTR block, the idea was to creep relatively undetected to site nine.
Furthermore, you can't rip on Shotgun Enquea without saying anything about Sam, Eater of Burdens.

I managed to get about 10 copies of each, play them nearly every Movie/TS/FotR Block Deck.

More importantly to JD...
I think your Free Peoples side really works against itself in a lot of ways.
First of all, the biggest benefit of Dauntless Hobbits is that you choke well enough to make up for relatively weak companions. Let's face it, Merry, Pippin, and even Legolas aren't going to win that many skirmishes. So to stick a Ring-Bearer like Galadriel, Bearer of Wisdom in there is really just asking for trouble; especially when Frodo, Courteous Halfling, Gimli, Bearer of Grudges, or Isildur, Bearer of Heirlooms works so much better with your deck.
Your "choking" Free Peoples side is completely turned around by your expensive companions, possessions, and events. Glorfindel, Revealed in Wrath (P) is a cool card (I used to have three or four), but if he is not in your starting Fellowship, then what is the point of running him? I mean, Hosts of the Last Alliance, Aragorn, Wingfoot, Asfaloth, Taurnil, and Anduril, Flame of the West are all at least [2]. It is really hard to choke someone when you are playing a [4] companion here, a [3] artifact there, a [2] condition there. Plus, cards like Still Needed completely negate the benefit of running Dauntless Hobbits. The [2] you just added for the strength bonus can then be used for cards like Burn Every Village, Vengeance, Bred For Battle, and others.
I think cards like A Talent For Not Being Seen fit better into this deck than cards like That Is No Orc Horn. Pippin, Wearer of Black and Silver is probably a more helpful Pippin. Or, if your sitepath is important to you, bid one burden higher and start Pippin, Hobbit of Some Intelligence*.
Smeagol, Poor Creature would be a helpful companion for cycling. Plus, you could throw in a copy or two of Follow Smeagol to control the site path. That would be particularly helpful for you if you had the low-cost sites.

oh, don't worry about that. This deck was never meant to choke. I just thought it would be fun to play a deck that used comps from a different culture who all used elf possessions, with the exception of anduril. perhaps boosting events is pointless when still needed cancels the effect, but with the help of glimpse of fate, a lot of that can be avoided. However, with only one copy of the condition in the deck it is useless until I draw it. Anyway, I appreciate the advice.
PS, awesome idea about pippin hosi. I never thought about that.
@ lego
Yea! someone else understands my logic behind frenzy of arrows! If you don't want to deal with the card, don't run followers! It's the same with enquea, if you don't want to deal with him, then don't run 6 comps. I too love that every deck, at least that I have encountered, in LOTR has a counter deck to destroy it.
-
I agree with ket, the idea of a dauntless hunter deck is to play low cost cards, lots of hobbits (allies work with his text as well!) and make them pay way to much for their conditions-possessions. aragorn, wingfoot can be included if you plan on doubling every now and then, he takes out the remaining minions. if you really want to win skirmishes use gimli, lock-bearer, he fits in to the unbound hobbit idea.
-
L3333- I am afraid you are incorrect. Allies are neither unbound or Ring-Bound.
-wtk
seriously??? wow, that um kills one of my decks...
-
I was sad when I learned about that too. darn allies and their indecisiveness
-
Well, logically, the Ring-bound/unbound distinction was made to reflect the Breaking of the Fellowship. Allies neither went on with the Ring-bearer (Ring-bound) nor went off with the other companions (unbound); they just stayed home.
-
Sammy has a good point. As does Ket. i would be pretty... shall we say uncomportable with an unbound hobbit deck which had 8-9 unbound hobbit allies with dauntless hunter, lockbearer, and wingfoot in play.
