Where is the elven Aragorn? (makes more sense than Rohan)
The title should be,
Aragorn, Estel (or was it Estil, I don't recall)
I was thinking it should work well with Arwen, She-elf.
Maybe something like this:
cost 4, strength 8, vitality 4, res. 8
(maybe, to play spot an Elf?)
When you play Aragorn, you may reinforce an elven token for each of the following you can spot, Elrond, Arwen, Glorfindel.
Skirmish: Remove an elven token and reveal your hand, for each elven card revealed, place a random card from hand on top of your draw deck.
-
Skirmish action is too powerful.

Your right. I'll try something completely different. The problem with this idea is that Gandalf, Manager of Wizards is far better.
-
Maybe it could actually be
For each elven card revealed, discard a card at random from hand. You may place that card on top of or beneath your draw deck.
But this might be too powerful too.

I think an [Elven] Aragorn is a great idea, but I would have really hoped for a better ability. If I were going to make an [Elven] Aragorn, it would look something like this:
[4] •Aragorn, Estel [Elven]
Companion • Man
Strength 8
Vitality 4
Signet: Frodo
To play, spot an Elf.
At the start of the maneuver phase, you may reveal the top card of your draw deck. If it is an [Elven] card, you may wound a minion.
At the start of the assignment phase, if you can spot more minions than companions, you may make Aragorn defender +1 until the start of the regroup phase.
Something like that. It encompasses both his [Elven] and [Gondor] sides pretty well. He's quite powerful, but by making his maneuver action "at the start," there is far less ability to use cards like Nenya, Ring of Adamant to rearrange.
Of course, I think Gift of Foresight is a really neat card.

The She-Elf tie-in is a good idea. Why don't you make it more explicit? A first line like "While you can spot Arwen, Aragorn..." then a second line that reinforces [Elven] tokens so that Arwen can remove them?

i think decipher should have made a cross culture companion for each of the 9 walkers. Say, a Shire Boromir, a dwarf-legolas, an elf-gimli, a rohan-merry, a gondor-pippin, elf-gorn, gondor-gandy, pick something for the other 2. they wouldn't have cross-cultred very well, but the other 7 would have crossed easily.
-
Frodo could easily be Elven, or possibly even Smeagol.
-
I don't think that making a companion of another culture just for the sake of doing it is a very good idea.
Personally, I like that you have to spot extra cultures, even if the cards do fit in well. No one is going to say that Merry, Swordthain or Merry, Rohirrim Squire fit better into [Shire] decks than [Rohan] decks.
In fact, I think Aragorn, Defender of Rohan is one of the lamest cards Decipher produced.
A few cross cultures that would make sense to me:
Aragorn [Elven]
Eowyn [Gondor] (for instance, Lady of Ithilien as a subtitle would have worked nicely)
Bilbo [Elven] or [Dwarven]
Outside of that, I think that it is a forced subject and I like multiple cultures interacting because that is an additional struggle that the Free People's player has to overcome.

That is a good Idea. It would need to something which helps defence like a vitality or resistance boost, or maybe a limit on the number of wounds he could take during each skirmish.
BTW, how does one make the Dot symbol (for example)

testing...
Alt-7 =

Hmm...
That didn't work
-
It's never worked for me either.
-
k, maybe it's a software thing.

Or just do what I do - copy-paste an existing dot. ;)

Same with me.

On macs it's alt + 8. In case that helps. But when I used a PC, I used to do the same as you Sam and Lurtzy!
