I'm in Kentucky. As a region, we had a very active player base throughout most eras of the game. Pretty sure a lot of them would be interested in starting with Fellowship block and re-progressing.
Also, I'd love to re-visit some cards in F-Block for possible restriction. Namely these:
Relics of Moria
Saruman, Keeper of Isengard
Flaming Brand
A Ranger's Versatility (restriction opposed to erratum)
No Stranger to the Shadows
Frying Pan
I don't know what to do with these cards. Very tempted to ban them.
Aragorn, Heir to the White City
The Palantir of Orthanc
I hate, HATE errata. It makes it very hard on new players. I'd much rather just tell people that they can't use The Mirror of Galadriel instead of asking them to learn an entirely new gametext for it.
Are there any discussions to revising the restricted/banned lists for Fellowship Block, or will I just have to take this upon myself for my own local play group?

Keep it to your own play area. Sure, those cards can be annoying but no reason to ban or restrict them.

Agreed with Ket. I would ban none of these cards, and agreed with the whole Mirror debate. I commonly explain it as: don't play it; it is useless. Trust me as you once did ;)
-
My other thought would be to ignore errata and restriction completely and let the players play with the cards as printed for a set amount of time, say two to three months, in order to get a feel for the competitive environment.
Yes, KoI is a beast to face, but having ARV (the original) at your disposal can serve as an effective counter-measure.
Maybe an idea like this is a bit too extreme, but I really want players to be able to play with as many of their cards as possible while avoiding errata at all costs.
-
Uruk-Hai cannot survive archery decks without Keeper of Isengard. Perhaps you can use Spies of Saruman (I use both), but it is easily defeated with the likes of Secret Sentinels.
-
Oh yeah. Forgot about that. Can't keep track of all that old meta in my head. I also just now remembered that Thror's Map is pretty overpowered pre-errata as well.
Guess Ill just be banning some cards.
-
No, not ban! You want the best decks around the get the best out of players. BoI is a very easy way to come around KoI :uh-huh:. BoI doesn't autolink, but stands for Betrayel of Isengard.
-
While you're at it, you should ban every card in Realms of the Elf Lords (except Friends of Old), Sleep Caradhras, Aragorn, Ranger of the North, Legolas, Greenleaf, Goblin Armory, Goblin Swarms, Savagery To Match Their Numbers, Troop of Uruk-Hai, Hate, Orc Bowmen, Ulaire Enquea, Lieutenant of Morgul, Frodo, Old Bilbo's Heir, Frodo, Son of Drogo, and definitely Frodo, Reluctant Adventurer.
Oh, and definitely Lightfootedness.

Better thought: Just ban the Archery phase altogether.

Oh, and maybe promote choke decks, by adding to each site:
At the end of the shadow phase, if there are less than 10 minions, there is no skirmishphase until the end of the turn
-
I have the Alpha version of the Mirror of Galadriel which has the corrected text. It does make things easier, but I personally hate bannings more than errata (but thats just me). A virtual slip for the errata would be great at some point.

So you all think that Fellowship block is fine the way it is then?

I think that is the consensus. I mean, it has been around long enough that anything that was a problem (The Mirror of Galadriel, A Ranger's Versatility, etc.) have been dealt with.
If you don't like some of the cards, play Towers Standard or Movie where there is an X-List.

I really think fotr is good as it is....

I know of Movie Block, but I'm not familiar with the Towers Standard format. Can you point me to a resource where I can learn more about it?

You are welcome!

Until there's an install solution for Mac that I can actually implement easily, GCC isn't an option. :(
-
I got everything installed correctly, but when I run the game it tells me:
Connecting to gccg.servebeer.com port 29120
21:33 Incorrect Password
21:33 Maybe someone has already registered player named Joe
Server closed connection.
ABNORMAL EXIT!
It never even gives me the chance to put in a username or password. :(
-
I don't want to sign in as Joe. That's what I'm saying. I never picked a username or a password.

Follow my directions and delete the files I suggested. If they are not there, contact wlk on this site and he can walk you through.
I'm sure your problem is much simpler than you've suggested; however, I am not a computer wizard and am yet unfamiliar with Apple computers.

Yeah. Those files don't exist in my directory, which leads me to believe it's another problem. I'll try to contact wlk I guess, but he hasn't been active on the forum since January according to his profile.
Thanks.

He tends to only respond to personal messages or if there is a major update on GCCG.

I figured it out. Got it running. Downloading the card images now and then I should be set.
-
Running on a Mac? You should fill us in. :)
-
The client is running. Unfortunately I can't find a deck building solution for the Mac. Still trying to figure out how to build my own decks.
Other than that though, I can log in, watch games, and play with the pre-constructed decks.
