I think the developers have abandoned it, and you can't really do anything without the source code, which is unavailable. The set info is hard-programmed in as far as I know. One reason I still Lackey is that it is still in development, and a little more flexible since it's designed for multiple games.

Just an fyi.... I am still in contact with people that worked on the programming for sda.  I chat from time to time with the original programmer and the ones that took it over after that.   It might be feasible to get in contact with them, but I doubt they would see much point to reprogramming for the little use it gets now.  It's really just a minor issue anyway.

Oooh, please do! I doubt it would take much time at all to remove sets 20 and 21, or add a set 0 for promo cards. Also, have them add the ability to place tokens on possessions/artifacts. ;)

Exactly.
In addition, the Ages End cards appear under The Great Eye.
Likely not much work, and eliminates confusion.

I need to add I can only host using the himachi network program if my opponent doesn't have it too I can't host. I would advice all active SDA user to download it then we can all host using this program and no longer will to ppl behind a firewall or unaccessible network not be able to play.

My master's degree is FINALLY finished after two long years of sucking up lots of my time, so count me back in for SdAing, gentlemen (and ladies ;)). I'm not going to be available ALL the time, of course, and typically only in the evenings (EST) and sometimes weekends. I'm also not yet sure if I can host, as I haven't really tried since getting this new Vista-burdened lappy. But I SHOULD be able to go for it if someone ELSE can host.
Title: Re: SdA Users
Post by: AgentDrake on June 21, 2008, 08:26:12 PM
Well, I just got SdA on my laptop. I dunno if I can host or not, and I only have two crummy decks I just half-randomly threw together so far (I'm not even 100% sure they're standard-legal. I thionk they are, but I need to check someday.) Anyway, I'm now in the SdA pool as well.
Title: Re: SdA Users
Post by: NappyKorn on June 22, 2008, 05:42:42 AM
To Dain and AD: Get hamachi! Google it download it and we can play reguardless of hosting status. All we have to do is be signed into the the same virtual network and we can use the IP address provided by it to connect to each other on sda
Title: Re: SdA Users

Or would that just be pointless toil?

Hello gents and gentesses  ;)

Has anyone downloaded SdA recently? The links on theJord's and Kralik's posts here aren't working for me  :(

Is the programme free to run once downloaded? Or do you have to pay for cards? If it's free/inexpensive I'd love to have a few games with y'all if I manage to suss out my www woes...

Try this link, http://br.geocities.com/sdalord/, then just click the sda 3.1 link on the page. Yes it is free and the cards are included in the download, you will just need to find a way to get the card images if you want them. If you download it and wanrt a game I'm available quite often except on the nights I have to work .
Title: Re: SdA Users
Post by: AgentDrake on July 08, 2008, 03:43:18 PM
...You can get all the images by replacing the "SdA.xml" file in SdA with the one which Kralik created, linked tohere (http://lotrtcgdb.com/files/SdA.xml).

Welcome, BTW!

Thanks NK & AD!

Downloaded programme, looks fantastic, currently downloading images...

It's probably going to take a little while for me to figure out SdA, would anyone be up for a FOTR block tutorial game at some point? Or TTT/both if I make a deck (I have a FOTR deck right now and can easily make more) I never played with any later sets than those, apologies to all you Hunters/RoS fans :) I know the game rules fine (I think!) it's just the interface that's unfamiliar...

Thanks again

Joel

Hmmm. Just downloaded Kralik's xml file and popped it in where the other SdA.xml was previously, but the card images aren't being displayed, at least, sometimes it says "downloading", then after an eternity the image arrives, or else it doesn't bother :) The cards on the programme are still black with a "Get Image" label. I do have a good broadband connection, so I'm not sure what the problem is. I did make one deck before downloading the new xml, would it still be looking for the original file? slightly confused...

Any suggestions? Thanks

Joel

Post by: Kralik on July 09, 2008, 11:07:06 AM
Make sure you replaced the old SdA.xml.... Rather than using SdA to download images for you, I recommend using a download manager on this folder (http://lotrtcgdb.com/images) and putting the images in your SdA\images directory.

Post by: Cave Troll Counsellor on July 17, 2008, 12:17:49 PM
Thanks Kralik, got the images sorted eventually. Now I just need to figure out how to play with SdA. If anyone with reasonably high patience levels would like to show me the ropes, please feel free to wing me a PM if you see me online. If I can't play at the time we can def arrange a rendezvous...I have a couple of FOTR block decks and can make more from the 'movie' blocks (which should really be called the 'book' blocks!).

If you only knew the power of the dark side...

PM me or ask questions on the thread if you have any; also know that it's generally accepted that GCCG's deck editor isn't the easiest (many use SdA to build and GCCG to play). Decklist Builder is better than both. ;)

Also, I remember that you used to play SdA in public locations... know that you can run GCCG off of a flash drive (if you want images you'll need about 300MB space).

Download Windows Installer (http://gccg.sourceforge.net/downloads/gccg_install.zip)

Then run Install LOTR.bat

After that run Install LOTR cards.bat to get card images and run LOTR. bat to start actual client.
